Charlie never ceases to amaze me, how the hell can he play bass and melody at the same time??? I know pianista do that but it’s different on guitar. On piano left hand is bass and right is melody. On guitar the left hand has to fret both bass and melody and the right hand has to pick bass and melody both. AMAZING!!!
He was playing with melodic and rhythmic independence prowess for decades. Was on the bill with Charlie Hunter Trio at Bimbo’s 365 back in 1994 and was told during that show that he had been playing for only six years…Six YEARS?!? His playing ability was just as incredible then. He’s a one of a kind. Scary good.
i finally found the song after 8 months of search, its on the garage a trois album emphasizer which charlie hunter is a part of. The song name is GAT swamba.
Yea,pretty freakin good...Love it when that connection happens with jamming. Its rare in my experiences to have that connection, like only family usually has.
Lordy! Only thing missing is D’Angelo in his black tank top on his Fender Rhodes. This was brilliant. I only learned who Charlie Hunter was today even though I been hearing him for 20+ years.
I don't understand why it sounds so excellent, in not only their play but also their sound acoustics, even though it's played in a brick-walled chamber!
I like it when the audience joins in clapping out the beat, but I don't think if I had been there that I could have joined in without being out of step and wrecking the flow of it all. Wow!
yeah but guitarist don't.. and for a good reason: u need 2 fucking brains to achieve this kind of improvisational independence and freedom while having a steady groove, he is using his both hands sure, but the notes come from just the fretboard hand.. it would be like comping and improvising with EACH hand... (would be a interesting experiment for a pianist to do..)
Not like this they don't. It's the same concept, but physical execution is harder. And the techniques he uses are esoteric, it's possible he is the only one that possesses them. absolutely inimitable player
I love Charlie's playing. I thing it's a good thing that he dropped that "organ" sound, not that I didn't like it but he is not the type of musician to stay in one mode for ever. Good on you Charlie. Monster drumming, monster music. Joey Scarfone

It blew my mind the first time i heard him

Oh man that drummer is SO SICK! Has that unstoppable tempo like Bonham. Makes it look so easy.

This song is an Astor Piazzolla song called "Libertango". GAT swamba is a different song.

@@gabrielmorton7030 it has the same melody
Thank you so much!!
Yes it has a similar melody to Libertango but is in fact GAT swamba. Different root movement distinguishes the two.
Absolutely gorgeous, two masters of feel. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to wipe the tears of joy from my eyes.
We humans are monsters in many ways, but music redeems us.

That was so amazing to watch, it was scary. Thank you Mr Hunter and Mr Clapp. Wow!

i can't believe this .... so amazing !
Two minds thinking and acting as one. That is Jammin' . How blessed were those folks to be with them in those moments?
You mean three brains. Charlie surely must have two that work independently.
@@warrenwickremesooriya9167 I was going to say something of the sort. Hunter is both the guitar and bass player.
Three minds!
Just two masters having fun
Charlies the man! Nice drumming too..Enjoyed this❤️😍🥇
Great! I feel lucky for I have arrived here. Thanks to songs from the analog playground. Cheers
Myself and a buddy were at the show. Incredible. Also got to talk to Charlie for a while.

Damn! Thats so great.
Goodness gracious! that groove change from 0:45 onwards is so tasty...

i love to hear a minor chord and then keep the root but playing a diminished...wow...it's that libertango-feel...!! yeah charlie!

Fuck, drummer is so on point
It kind of felt like Charlie was waiting for the drummer to settle into a groove the whole time.
oh wow. wow.
Great!!!!!
I'm confused.......60 years of listening to Rock and being a drummer.........I'm converting!
Everyone appreciates jazz in the end.
my fucking mind.. charlie hunter how the fuck... i swear 2 brains?
Piano players do it all the time

Joey Scarfone
Wow.
yusss!!
🤯🤯🤯
Seriously, what song is this? I've watched it 12 times in a row now. I have to know
On Astor Piazzolla. "Libertango"
starting like Bernie's tune
this is really similar to Ibrahim Electric's "Endangered Beat"
Ooooof
guys whats the song name i forget !! arggghh
*****
what album does he do it on man?
i have them all almost
Piazzolla.
I really hope the use of 7-string guitars becomes more popular for applications outside of metal "music".
Wtf
Two people trying to out clever each other........just because you can, doesn't mean you should!
why not?
lol..you are clueless
And a third one in the comments missing out on good music
I think he's minus a couple of clues. @@bassbird
The drums are filling to much and to loud.
Would sound so much better with a proper bassist. And I’m not a bass player guys.
