I captured this girl singing "She Moved Through the Fair" at a pub north of Dublin. Ruth Cahill is her name .www.ruthcahills... In the meantime ENJOY. The comments during the song say it all.
I think I've searched everywhere and cannot find any further info on this girl but with a voice like that, I can't believe she's not singing somewhere. Beautiful!
Agreed Michelle, of all the different singers I heard singing this, very few sing all four verses, and also dont sing the correct lyrics in the last verse - my "dead" love came in!
I listen to stuff from Hendrix,SRV,The Stones,Led Zeppelin,BB King, and such;but when I heard this it stopped me cold in my tracks. Absolutely beautiful.
To Ruth Melody, Just wamted to ask if you have a tape or CD of your songs? Do you have any other songs on TH-cam? You have a lovely singing voice, have you been singing awhile? Who are some of your musical influences?
Beautiful! Here's an additional verse, as per M. Barry's old version: The people were saying no two ever were wed but one had a sorrow that never was said I watched as she passed with her goods and her gear and that was the last time that I saw my dear db
The lovliest rendition I have ever heard of this. A sweet pure and powerful voice.
WOW !! Now if I was a bird, 14 stone lighter 30 years younger and Irish, I would want to sing and look just like you Ruth. Fantastic.
What an atmospheric clip. Her voice is her blessing.
That little bit of perfection in a soiled world ............. beautiful
She sings like an angel and she's very beautiful too.
If you can sing a song like this one without any background music support.....one can really sing...! Beautiful!
So haunting, so beautiful. Thank you
Saw this on youtube and liked it so much that we had this song at our own wedding. Awesome.
I think I've searched everywhere and cannot find any further info on this girl but with a voice like that, I can't believe she's not singing somewhere.

To Ruth Melody,
Just wamted to ask if you have a tape or CD of your songs? Do you have any other songs on TH-cam? You have a lovely singing voice, have you been singing awhile?
Who are some of your musical influences?
@loudanmolliefinn Johnny Fox's is in the Carlow mountains... south of Dublin...
Beautiful!
Here's an additional verse, as per M. Barry's old version:
The people were saying
no two ever were wed
but one had a sorrow
that never was said
I watched as she passed
with her goods and her gear
and that was the last time
that I saw my dear
db
I love the way she silenced the pub in a couple of seconds.. you could hear a pin drop.. beautiful version of a beautiful song

Great performance- looked for the "Ruth Melody Simply Me" CD but can't find anywhere. Does anybody (maybe Ruth!) know where I can find it ?

Hello - can't find the CD anywhere - is it available on the web / direct?
Thanks
Does anyone know how to get the hairs down on the back of my arms?
oh yeah ....wow here too :-)
BoreioSelas, thanks for the update, I updated the video with Ruths name,
This girls got american idol written all over her. Voice...looks....she is great.
Very nice Keep going ;-)
I agree...except for the lyrics. Would like to hear a traditional version by her!
A truly amazingly beautiful voice. I too think the emotion is missing ... but the situation/audience might be the problem there.
Was it Johnny Fox's pub?
Love the way the crowd noise dwindles to nothing until the only sound is the voice of the singer.
😍
holy shit
2.07 "I wanna copy of THAT" Arrrp and i'd buy her a drink should she come my way.
"I want a copy of that"
I love love this girl's voice, but the words are wrong.... she's missed the crucial verse with the fact that the lover's dead...
wow
'I WANNA COPY O' THAT!'
omg
