I love the jump between “I hate it” next clip “ oh yeah the coin love it”
They recorded a time machine podcast they didn’t release until a 100 episodes or so after
seeing gus now, as opposed to earlier podcasts; really makes me appreciate how trunk club has upped his style game
Are you sponsored by them
Finbar Murphy lmaooo Gus do be pullin off fits tho
I FORGOT ABOUT TRUNK CLUB what happened to them
I wanted to get that
Man, I remember listening to the Coin saga week by week as the podcast came out. Any old timers remember when the podcast VOD on TH-cam was delayed by a week?
Those were the days!!
I like how this became obsolete before it even released.
All this technology, but they still don't have a device that flips a coin three times and tells you the likelihood of getting three heads.
I just finished watching the video someone made about that argument. This comment is quality! lol

Is everyone here on the same fucking video chain
million dollars but the only way to use the money is with the coin credit card
Zak Mangold gus would use the million to Sue them
@@scottking8189 stonks
uncle jeffree's left testie hahahahahaha
Zak Mangold it feels more like “it was over a year ago and I’ve moved on”
No. Fuck no.
I got whiplash from how drastically they flipped their opinions of the coin in this vid
no its all bad, the bit where it seems like they are really complimentary of the coin was a joke podcast they did where they recorded it wayy earlier as if they hadn't so they were trying to predict the future basically
The craziest thing about this compilation is how much better dressed everyone got in such a short space of time
Murg I get the joke, but is it actually considered "better"?
Clothing trends change. There’s no such thing as “better dressed over time”, just dressed differently
Dixen Prime blah, yes there is.
Dixen Prime and it’s almost like when they started dressing differently their style was considered better 🤔
@@PaulMab9 Style is 100% subjective. If someone rocked up wearing the latest fashion from the 1700s they'd probably look like a dolt.
The podcast @ 10:13 is one they recorded and didn’t realese for a year. They purposely talked about stuff, like the coin, knowing that it was gonna be heard a full year later.
Oh that makes sense I forgot they did that
You should update this. Coin didn't just "fail". They were bought out by Fitbit and Fitbit cancelled the card immediately and did nothing with the brand. Seems like one brand buying another to stump competition.
It really felt like a “oh shit this might pop off! Let’s buy it!” Oh no it’s bad, okay well cancelled and refund money who cares.
It's because NFC chips started being put in phones, meaning you didn't need the card separate from your phone
It's amazing gavin forgetting the exact questions he already asked
5:01 You can see how well they know each other sometimes
It's amazing how many novel ideas and inventions of convenience art blown out of the water by "What if your thing, but on your phone?"
You know what I learned from all this. It wasn't a crowd funding.
You know what i learned from all this? COIN ISNT EVEN A FUCKING COIN. ITS A DAMN SHITTY CARD
Yeah it was a scam
Preordering is a form of crowdfunding.
Came here from the podcast. Forgot how much I loved the Gusstache!
Burnie's whole argument is basically I can't be upset because I'm rich and bought it months ago lol
Yeah that's the side of him I really don't like. Rich people who flaunt wealth and take money for granted are so annoying.
@@CAPDude44 then your stupid an just jealous simple because he earned it he wasnt just rich in a day
@@fable3rules12 no but ok
@@CAPDude44 then why you being a dick
I Am Armando your young bro, your opinion and voice doesn’t matter
The best part is that sometimes coin ads would play on their videos
6:02 Gusbot broke for second.
thought my pc crashed
HAHAHAHAHAH
I rewatch this compilation every few years
Thanks
I love how Gus keeps going back and forward about how he feels about the coin.
I think the videos are a bit out of order cause one of them was purposely delayed or something. also there is the first coin and then the 2nd coin
I think the episode where they say they love the coin, where Burnie says it's his old wallet so doesn't have it on him, was the episode they filmed like 2 years before it was actually released for some reason. I think it was a landmark episode they recorded years before release for a joke but can't super remember so they're talked about the coin before they even have it 😂
@@porkchops1701 yeah, something like that
I’m loving these videos of following the timeline of a topic. Well done.
This sounds like a device someone could use to copy strangers credit cards for fraudulent purposes quickly and with a 60% chance of success.
I think we are all forgetting the important thing here. How long will construction and the airport be going on?
Dont worry it will be done next year.
Rinse and repeat every year.
I hear at the Austin Airport its endless, no matter where you go
Have you seen the construction at Jamaica Airport though?
I just saw that video the other day.
They talked about this video on the podcast!
Technology crowdfunding almost never works, ive backed a few dozen creative products like books or board games and they've all been great or somewhat good. But most of the hardware ideas people have aren't possible in the way that they imagine, software is kinda 50/50 a lot of the time it turns out meh. There have been a couple of gold stars in there though. But ive never seen a hardware kickstarter go well
Before Apple Pay I thought this was fucking crazy. Now I realize how fucking stupid this was lol
going back and watching all the old but gold eps
I just realized this was literally just Google/Apple/Samsung pay
I love how much their opinion has changed

In some ways this thing was ahead of the curve just done in a bad way. Apple/Google Pay basically perfected it
But if you flip a coin three times...
Sir Prize Jeremy still won’t care.
Lol the time capsule episode really stands out when you don’t put it in context 😂
The coin, aka, apple wallet but with swipe, a feature no one uses anymore
Gus who likes math should've kept track of every time he swipped it and gave us an average on the original one
I like to imagine Gus and Burnie are just quickly changing clothes while the camera is cut away
That was a real emotional rollercoaster! Thanks for the video.
The end of this video made me think my phone broke
I fucking have this thing.
And I fucking hate it.
Worthless
7 years later and it’s such a shit idea
I`m paranoid with this stuff, I already always have two cards just in case. I`d never use just this Coin, no matter how well it worked
I'd back you up on that. Makes sense to me.
To help more with your paranoia, magnetic strip cards are actually being phased out because of how easily credit card information can be stolen from them
I like cash
I dont trust credit cards period, I use Cash.
@@williamblazkowicz5587 Well we all know who to mug.
Very fun to see! i wish you could have burned the podcast dates in there! or the date of the year too!
+Brendan O'Gibney I added the podcast number and the year/month via annotations
This is why I don't pay for crowdfunding. The exception being that the company has full, 100% transparency in what they do and how they do it.
Only every pay for a product that exists
But it wasn't crowdfunded ;^)
@@hipster_tacos yes it was
I remember this kick-started I wish it was a way to see every time they talk about it in the past
20,000 people watched this and only 6 have subscribed. You sir. Do not have my subscription but thanks for the video.
You should do a compilation of every time burnie talked about the vessel cup thing he bought for gavin that hasnt come out yet
A product like this needs to work 100% of the time or it offers no benefit over other cards
People talked about this as though it was a crazy idea that would never happen, but now Apple pay has come and proved how good of an idea this really was.
Moral of the story: Gus needs to stop doing things that Burnie does
Yet now you can do all of this on your phone alone.
So they made a wallet you have to charge.
This is literally like an early version of apple/google pay 💀😭
god damn i miss burnie 🥺
That's all well and good
But if you flip it three times...
Lol I remember pre-ordering the coin for my dad’s birthday one year. Honestly it was nice to have Burnie and Gus to suffer a long wth through this whole fiasco 😂
Remember when they just posted video podcasts and you didn't have to pay money to watch them?
I remember when they posted video podcasts.
Listening to podcast 350 is hilarious since they hate the coin but talk about loving it 😂
Sometimes you see something way ahead of its time. Coin card was like 20 years too late
Wish I can grow a mustache within 2 minutes
I like the Fleshlight bottle opener.
At the time I can see why this was an enticing idea for a product
I use curve card, which is basically this but ut doesnt have bluetooth or a dumb screen. I just use the app to switch what card i want the curve card to be. Very handy.
I am in Europe though so maybe it doesnt work in america
It's irritating that Burnie has only three options in his head. People will have Coin, apple wallet, or Google pay.
And the majority option of bring a normal person and using a wallet with all your cards.
the majority now is just bringing your phone dude, everything is contactless now 🙃
@@jintie depends what country. Some places have adopted tech much faster than others. China for example. Other East Asian countries. But the US? We are pretty slow at changing (stubborn) and cash and physical credit cards are still majority. In fact some places tried to go cashless and government stepped in and blocked it. Now this was before world pandemic so that might influence how US state and city governments feel about creating a cashless society. And even then that still leaves cards vs phone.
Personally I've never used my phone to pay for anything. I venmo people or use PayPal. Buy stuff on my phone but never got a digital wallet
So don't act like everything is contactless lol
@@bluescluessuperagentevery country I’ve been to now is contactless
Pretty amazing how this is just standard on phones these days
good times man
It'd be awesome if you put the date of each podcast you use in the corner of the video
so instead of stealing your phone and 5 cards I only need your phone and 1 card? sounds like a win for pickpockets
I got a Curve card a bit ago which reminded me of this 😂
I love my curve card, at least it doesnt have the gimmick of a screen
Absolutely crowdfunded. When a large crowd of people give you money and you do not have the product, and you have to wait to start production on that product until you have enough money because you do not already have a business that cannot produce without said money, it is crowd funded.
the different tiers from Kickstarter specifically are not what define crowdfunded guys
So if you flip the coin three times..
Ken R what are the odds that it doesn’t work three times in a row
Jeremy still won’t care.
Maybe it's made to not work sometimes and work sometimes. If it works its heads if it fails its tails. They made an actual coin out of technology.
This feels like such outdated technology 😆
8:20 barbara suddenly ages slightly
Crowd-funding for Coin: $$$$
Crowd-funding for Rooster Teeth: *torches and pitchforks*
It would be even funnier if it was shipped by the USPS and was delivered to the wrong location
Burnie: It's not crowdfunding. A crowd funded the project but it's not crowdfunding.
Coin Announces Official Shutdown of All Product Services Coming February 28
Wednesday February 1, 2017
Hahah this was awesome! I want them to give us another update 😂
6:00
Gus.exe stopped working
Now there's Curve
You have to swipe cards in USA ? Do they not have chip and pin ?
Chip has been slowly rolled out for the past several years, probably like 3-5 years. I wish the person that put these clips together also had labeled the different podcasts.
Probably didn’t work because of manufacturing issues and security issues with card companies.
Am I the only person shocked by how bad this is when Curve (in the UK) works perfectly.
It connects to your Bluetooth. So if someone were to hack into your Bluetooth connection, they would be able to get into the Coin and take all of your cards on there, drain you dry and drink your milkshake with a straw that reaches across the room.
Tony Mueller Thats not how it works lol.
Tony Mueller what? They would drink my milkshake?!? Fuck that, im not buying a coin
Lmao yep, these guys definitely designed, created, and programmed a chip meant to store very valuable data, and then instead of encrypting the data, they just left it and hoped no one would guess that it has bluetooth.
Everything is encrypted, banks don't just store your information in plain text in a word document. Anyone reading the stream of data would just see gibberish unless the entire business was insecure and they found the decrypt key
Why is gus my spirit animal
Don't get them started on vessel
the thing with this was, why do americans still swipe in the first place lol
Apparently there wasnt much of a reason until recently to switch. But I honestly think it's just a money thing and stores were being cheap.
This screwed me back when I went to the UK. My bank hadn't switched to cards with chips yet and there's was practically nowhere in London that accepted swipe cards 😩
Gus’ laugh broke the audio
That Guy Gus’ *
Product placement moment
Any updates to Gus and the whole coin thing?
Does coins still exist the link for me does not work
Its dead
Why is Bernie not talking?
Omg they could just buy a Galaxy s7/s8 that transmits a magnetic strip to the terminal with MST
theres coin 2.0?
Wait so in one clip he has the card but the other clip hes roasting it. Im so confused
Holy shit, they just really wanted Apple Pay
I don't get the point of this.
You can pay with your phone and have different bankacounts on your phone.
And peaple always have there phone on them anyway, so why would i carry around another thing I could loose.
The coin kickstarter was in 2013, back then it wasn't common to pay with your phone, sth that changed dramatically when Apple Pay was introduced a year later and with Android Pay in 2015. The "coin" service shut down in 2017.
This video is also over 4 years old, not sure if you noticed ;)
Suffice to say you've been schooled by the other comment. Maybe we have too many phones and not enough deduction in society lol
@@bluescluessuperagent Wow u so smaht. Yes, less phone, more deduction... gooood point.
Damn I forgot about Brunette Barbara
Maybe cause it's magnetic and it's getting demagnetized with your phone
curve card in the uk baby
Good God, the editing in this video is SO hard to follow.
