Nii, what a powerful history lesson. I wished my ancestors could have returned back to Africa, during the period of American slavery. The Afro Brazilians who returned to Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, were a strong and resilient people. I pray that Ghana will not allow its seaport redevelopment at Jamestown to harm the people who depend on fishing to support themselves.

Thank you Nii for showing us more of our history, The project is good but the government took a cheap contract. they should have preserved those things because they are what made us who we are the history is covered once again. I was On a journey to learn more about our Hebrew ancensters, and I discovered a lot in the Western. Our language was purely Hebrew and after centuries of colonization by Dutch, German, Portuguese, and then English, We lost our identity, and our Hebrew practises have been infected with all kinds of practices. Our names were changed. eg Ben-yamen, to Benjamine. No J in the Hebrew alphabet so we never had J in our names until we were colonized.

This is why the government must invest in trained tourism guides. The man gave inaccurate information. The returnees from Brazil were not origianlly from what we know as Ghana. They were mostly of Fon, Hausa and Yoruba heritage and the first batch especially that returned were muslim and had the names Asuman, Kangindi, Adama, Maman etc. Also they didnt return after slavery was abolished. Slavery wasnt abolished until 1888 in Brazil. Yet the first group arrived in 1829 on a ship called the Salisbury. A second group came in 1835 and many more afterwards. In fact the original group were trying to return to their original homeland in modern day Nigeria but got shipwrecked in Accra and were invited to stay by Chief Ankrah of Otublohum. Most of the returnees were either expelled from Brazil after the Mahi revolts in Bahia or had purchased their freedom in Brazil and returned to Africa to seek greener pastures. Please always consult with true historians Nii so that the facts are communicated to the public.

I think is wrong what the Ghana government is doing to let the Chinese there they should preserve that port to be the heritage site so that next-generation can learn about the history

Very sad. Ghana government is always working against Gas. But they won't succeed. It is a straight spiritual FIGHT between the angel of the Lord God of Jacob who brought Gas here and the god of Ghana and the gods of the other tribes particularly Ashantis and Akyems.
