I'm a Thornaby lass from Lansdowne Rd now living in Derbyshire. Both parents were Thornaby through and through. One was 2A Diamond Rd the other from 146 Redcar Rd. Both now gone but never forgotten. A part of Thornaby will always be with me in my heart ❤️

I was born in 1946, just after this. We lived at the Erimus until those houses were demolished round about1958 and we, and many of the residents went to live at The Littleboy new estate, while the rest went to live up at the Thornaby Road new estate. We were all given the choice. Those new houses were really posh as they all had indoor bathrooms and toilets, not to mention, front and back gardens . To complete our luxury and poshness, we had ELECTRICITY!

Hello Lorna my grandparents lived at 5 Mead Crescent. I am researching the Erimus and have a section on it in my book Thornaby Lives . Have you kept any photos of the family when you lived there?

I do not mind admitting I cried my eyes out watching this. My Dad Eddie spent the first 18 years of his life living at 31 James St. He married Valerie Stirling , daughter of John & Hilda. Also the older sister of Marion. I think they lived on George St. Please let me know if anyone remembers them. Thanks.

Mrs B H ... In the 60 's we had a Tin Bath... One cold tap.. My mother had to boil pans for us 3 kids to have a bath..In a Tin Bath The 2 up 2 down still existed into the 1960's .... This was in Middlesbrough UK ... It was hard for mam and Dad even in the late 1960's .. Life took its time to heal after WW2 ... My brother's and I are Middlesbrough born but we spread out to Billingham..Berkshire uk... The middle brother is still at his birth place..

My nana Carrie and Albert thomas grandad had the wet fish shop in westbury street . My dad derek and grandad Joe spacey worked head wrightsons . My mam was a print finisher in Stockton. I grew up in Thornaby left at 21 years old. I still love going home to see my family. It’s always home 🏠

Thanks I'm glad the film stirred some thoughts. I remember an Ian Rennick at school whose family ran the fish shop -
