Guitarist Claude Thibeault, bassist Jean-Pierre Brie, drummer Phillipe Bernard and keyboard player Guy Pisapia asked vocalist Jean-Marc Pisapia to join them as the Box in 1982. He agreed, and the band released their first album (self-titled) two years later. Although all the members were French Canadian, they mostly sang in English. All the Time, All the Time, All the Time followed in 1985, but the band didn't make it in Canada until 1987's Closer Together. Their last album was The Pleasure and the Pain in 1990; after Bernand and Guy Pisapia left in 1992, the greatest hits compilation A Decade of the Box was released in 1993.

My first car. A rare sight in Canada... not alone in Ontario. 1989. The guy who gave me my license test asked me what it was? I promptly told him, it's a Renault 5 Sport as if he should know. Never seen one before was his response. He failed me. I went back a month later and got my license in that very car. A four speed that noboby knew existed outside of Europe, French Canada and maybe Africa. True Story. Mine was all black with mirror tint side glass and a full roll back soft top. How I miss that car.

Love, love, love this song. It’s the perfect amalgamation of music, video, and prose.
I would rewind this video on VHS countless times just to watch it again. When I wasn’t watching it I would be walking around my parent’s house singing, “Say, say to me”.
I kind of forgot this song as I got into my teenage years, but not completely. Every so often I would have to play the track. I’m thankful for TH-cam and the opportunity to see this video again for the first time in perhaps thirty (30) years. It makes the song all the much better.
Great song, great video, great memories of a time when I viewed the world innocently.

I discovered this song about 4 years ago as I was working doing deliveries in Quebec, listening to the radio. As soon as I started hearing it, my attention was captivated as it was quite unusual from most other songs I'd hear. By the end of the song, I loved it already and made sure to remember some of the lyrics so I could find it again.
I was surprised to find that the video, at the time, only had about 200k views (now it has 500k!). I thank the radio animator of that day who, as he said, took the time to look back in old records to find an interesting song to play.

The morbid spoken bits and eerie tone of this song freaked me out after hearing it on the radio; stayed in my mind for a while, and I actually had no idea what the name of the song was or anything else but a few lyrics (like the "Tightrope of insanity" part) it took me a while to find it and I was very interested to find it wasn't another case of a lost song, but rather an obscure effort from the underappreciated world of musical Canada.

Superbe chanson! Audacieux toutefois d'amener le refrain à 2:11, il se laisse attendre! Mélodie de fou..

Makes me feel like picking up some Molson Canadien, cruising around, cranking Montréal’s home of rock - CHOM FM, doing some donuts in a parking lot, catch the Habs game on Hockey Night in Canada with Danny Gallivan, and then head downtown.
