- Watched a lot of videos and people seem to have the muffler and resonators mixed up. Here I have the rear resonators removed and replaced with straight pipes and tips. Video may not do the sound justice but it is insanely loud and sounds sick. First 3 runs of it are factory and the rest are without the resonators. Of course, always best enjoyed with headphones and a beer!
the most precise and informative video that I've found so far about these modifications. One question tho, did you get any check engine light or you had to chip it in order not to get one?
Kevin Law Thank you. No check engine light. What I found was that it tuned itself to quiet down on idle but still loud when you get in it. No chip or anything. Also, while I researched, I found it would be very expensive to replace the factory muffler vs reattaching the resonators which I kept. I have babys. How loud is it at normal driving with the windows closed?
Chris Romain It's moderate on normal driving. Louder with the more gas you give. I would say double the sound from the factory

Nice! Finally a video of a resonator delete that’s not somebody simply revving it. I want to do this but I’m scared of drone since I take trips across the country with my family.
I have long tube arh installed, that go 3 inch to the muffler, then stock muffler. It’s not that bad driving across the country with a little extra rumble. I was even towing a vehicle 3800 miles lol. The music in the car during the day masked any noise and the rumble kept the kids asleep at night 😀

Cameras don’t do this setup justice. I just did this on my 18 rt and it sounds shockingly good. Perfect rumble around town and wot sounds incredible. If I had to nitpick, it does have a touch of drone on the highway around 60mph, but for a $250 setup that’s to be expected. I give this setup 8.9/10.
I agree that my phone camera didn’t do much to help. My 2014 has an ECO switch I can shut the ECO off and drone goes away.
@@666Slash my 18 has that as well. Even with the mds turned off, I still feel it drones a bit around 60, but like I said, for $250 it’s unbeatable.
I have American racing headers that sound kick ass. If I were to remove the resonator it would be ridiculous lol. Can’t wait to finish out the exhaust. The long tubes were a pain in the ass to install.
Richard Calderon I would love to change the headers. That and the throttle body.

Sounds great. And the stock system sounded good too. The stock system sounds better than the Charger RTs IMO

You removed the rear mufflers right? And did it cause engine misfire or check engine light sounds good too man 🔥
Those are the resonators ones the rear. No engine misfire and no lights. Had it done for some years now and still no issues. Other than I just replaced the aftermarket tips a few weeks cuz the welds rotted.

JRE If you ever think you have to throw the stock back on, you can have the resonators reattached. You cut the muffler off and can’t reattach, it’s about a $1000 for a factory muffler because it’s one piece from cat to the right resonator.
I do get a lot of strangers compliment the sound.
Did you keep the mid muffler?
Yes sir. Mid muffler is still in place.
Hey did you just cut the resonators, and straight pipe from there? And did you pay someone to make the replacement pipes for you or did you buy a kit?
The resonators are in the very back so it was little pipe and mostly tips. I recently had to replace the tips as the welds were starting to rot so they replaced a little more pipe in the back.

SunzDaCambino Good question! I have my next inspection in April. Worst case I kept the resonators. Also the reason I didn’t remove the muffler. That’s a $1200 fix!!!

Yes! Just exhaust tips in place of the resonators. I never heard of Blasting Bobs so I had to look that up.

Did it come with the hitch?
Yes. That’s got the factory tow package. It has a factory cover to hide it but somehow it fell off and I never bought a new one.
Sounds nice!! Yours stock sounds better than my Durango Citadel, I believe the R/T Durango has different exhaust.
Daytona 5.7 The beginning of this is stock and second half of resonators removed. I will have to look and see if they have different exhausts though.
I've watched your video at least 15 times, lol. I just purchased the same Durango. Color and everything. Question after deleting the resonators did you experience any issues?
Nice! Still no issues to this day. There is the drone though but I have an ECO button. I shut that off and no drone. I have had so many cars with aftermarket exhausts that I didn’t really notice the drone noise until one day I shut the ECO off.
@@666Slash Thanks, much appreciated. I just got off the phone with Meineke and I have an appointment for Wednesday morning to do the delete. I am going to order some tips if they dont have any at the shop but will going with the staight pipes. I never run the truck with the ECO on. It feels awkward, lol. So people with this setup - how did you choose to remove the 2 rear ones? There's so many options such as remove the huge mid suitcase one and replace with an X-pipe but leave the 2 rear ones alone. Then there's a setup like this where you leave that massive, heavy suitcase on but remove or replace the 2 rears with Flowmaster, etc. What's the difference between these 2 scenarios? Thanks!
For me, I wanted bigger tips. Also looking into costs to go back to factory, if you had to buy a new suitcase muffler, you would have to buy that factory in one piece that comes with the right side resonator and would be over $1000. I saved the resonators and they can easily go back up cuz it’s just the single inlet. This is just a cheap alternative to replacing with a whole exhaust system. You go putting in flow masters and spending that extra then you may as well go with a system.
Great vid.... Any drone in the cab when your mds activates? Was looking to do this and it's by far the cheapest most cost effective bang for your buck on ymthe hemi.

What is better getting a mid muffler delete or getting resonators removed???
David Wright I couldn’t tell you cuz I did just the resonators but if you have to buy a new muffler to go back to stock, factory is over 1k because it comes with the right side resonator all in one piece.

It may be too loud for a new born. It still scares my GF if I don’t warn her.

Hi! I am not sure what the difference would be. I went with the resonators because I could reinstall them if I had too. If I had to buy a new factory muffler, it’s way more expensive. The factory muffler is one piece with muffler and one resonator to buy.

Hi. Yes, just the rear resonators are removed and replaced with tips. The suitcase mid muffler is factory.
Looking to take the rear two mufflers out from my 2019 rt and wanting to keep mid muffler and cats. How’s the drone at crusing inside the car? is it loud or annoying?
On my 14, I have an ECO switch. I shut it off and drone goes away. Other than that, drone does annoy me when I don’t shut ECO off. I only leave ECO on if I go on a long trip and it is not bad. It’s more annoying when low speed.
Sounds good. Now I want to go to Mino's for a junior 3 way :-)

15 DurangoRT Sorry just saw this. It quiets down after it warms up. You hear the purr driving always.
How about drone at 70mph or steady highway speeds?
theunsactionedpro It’s more there at about 30MPH than at the higher speeds. I just don’t know how the drone sounds from outside vs how I hear it from inside. I just cure that by giving it more gas haha

The acceleration at 1:40 is that stock?
That spot at 1:40 is without the resonators.
I thought doing straight pipe would make your engine light come on
Cats and muffler are still on. Just the resonators were removed. No check engine light with that.
Anything to do with catalytic removal/mods WILL cause your dash to light up. muffler or resonator mods will not.
Best way to go about it is to replace the mid muffler with an x-pipe
TheReal NateDogg that would make it louder and more raspy, some people like it like that but imo a v8 shouldn’t be raspy like the x-pipe makes it. also you do get some drone with the x-pipe
Sounds amazing at cruise or 1/2 to 3/4 into the throttle. It’s that last 1/4 throttle or punched you can here that case rattle sounds loose and raspy. No thanks, would of sounded way better with smaller factory muffler case or magnaflow with resonators left in place. Just annoying to me like a punk kid exhaust. Needs deep smooth tone
