- This was probably my most exciting feature I ever edited while working for ESPN. When we came in to work it was going around that Jeremy Shockey had called Bill Parcells a 'homo'. We decided to blow the story up. The script, voice over and all the video was written, compiled and edited all in 6 hours from our 10am meeting to air for a 4pm show called NFL Live. It was definitely one of the more exhilarating assignments I ever worked on, enjoy!

Jeremy Shockey is still without a doubt the greatest TE the Giants ever had. He'd still be a factor with them today.....especially this years club.
He took the league by storm as a rookie in 2002 and he was viewed as the guy that could elevate the TE position to yet another level. He had a nice career so far but never achieved the same success after he was traded in 2008.
The minute Shockey left, Eli was born.

@@KeefRiffshard Yeah but Bavaro blocked like a moose. He would pick guys up with his antlers and run down the field with them. On running plays between Bavaro and Carthon it was like having a couple of extra guards.
Shockey was probably THE BEST tightend the giants ever had he was rookie of the year and he was probably one of the best draft picks by the Giants.... Yea ill give it to u he does have a mouth on him but he can back it up! now it would be different if he sucked and talked trash but hes good so he can talk shit......
Shockey had as much talent as Mark Bavaro (who was the best Giant Tight end ever, tho' Shockey wasn't the blocker Mark was) and did very little with it in my opinion. Yeah he was good but he should have been great! I'm talking about being an all-pro every year and being a real team leader. As it was he was a disappointment who cared more for his image than he did for the game itself, or the team. Too bad

Parcells was around when Shockey arrived....and he'll be around when Shockey leaves. Shockey is a has been and a nit-wit.

@BigBlueBruiser84 Mark Bavarro was the best. Shockey was more talented but he left too early. Bavarro made more of an impact for a longer period. He was my favorite player and I didn't want him to go but whatever. We won without him.
Say what you want, Shockey won a national championship in college and 2 Superbowls...he's a winner lol

Huh? Shockey played 10 more games and had like 1500 more yards in his career. Two less tds, they're stats are pretty even other than the yard totals

Parcells deserved the lashback. Maybe not to get called a Homo but people forget that it was Parcells who starting bad mouthing Shockey out of now where, what is a player supposed to do? Fat Parcells is very overrated. After the Giants He did nothing, unlike Tom Coughlin prior to the Giants. Tom Coughlin is a better coach and better person then Fatty. Fatty had LT and the greatest LB core ever. Without that, Parcells wouldn't even be mentioned in this thread.

I agree with this. Shockey would have been better than Bavarro but injuries, contract, and personal just got in the way.

When Shockey was playing for the Giants he was the most overrated TE in the NFL in my opinion but him and Coughlin don't get along.
