Just yesterday I attended Tony Hadley's concert in Cagliari: fantastic performance and extraordinary vocal qualities, with a wonderful talent for engaging the audience.
Spandau Ballet were very popular in Italy in the 80s (like everywhere else, I think) and indelibly influenced the sweet years of our adolescence, and Tony, yesterday, really knew how to make all of us, splendid fifty-year-old boys and girls, feel young again.

The 80's were the most rocking time EVER. I feel sorry for the ones growing up on the insipid, souless crap that they call music today. We were lucky to be young when music videos exploded onto the scene featuring true talents. Today it's whiny, hip hop, rap or just mediocrity at best.

In the 80's i was really into punk, goth and heavy metal and totally dismissed 'new wave' bands and singers as irrelevant and not worthy . What a dick i was. It's only as I've got older (and wiser) that when i now listen to these musicians and singers i get what i was missing. Tony Hadley does indeed have the most amazing voice. Truly wonderful in fact. Please take me back.

When I was a teenager I was a Duran fan.. But I have khown Tony Hadley and Gary Kemp after a concert I Rome.. We were only teen but they were very kind and gentlemens over all.. We went together trough the airport!!! Incredible adventure❤.. So much time ago....... 🎉What a funny day❤

Spandau Ballet what is there to say? Very tight group that changed how we felt after listening to this incredible group. When you get lost in their music there is no better compliment than that. Their music will live on forever!

I was 24 more than a teenager when this beautiful song came out ! I’m 64 and if someone is lucky enough to have lived through the greatest time for music the 70’s and 80’s is my generation ! I loved Spandau Ballet since day one !

A lot of people say that gold and true are their best songs, but for me this is their best song. From "parade" of 1984.
I think Gold and true, if im not mistaken they were certified no. 1 in the top 40's. Dont get me wrong, I like this song very much because of the Jazzy beat and the saxophone adlib. What i love with music is incorporating sax instruments on it. Billy Joel's "Just the way you are" is one example of song that i really love because of the sexy sax sound. Norman was an outstanding Sax player.

Spandau were silky smooth
Best Spandau song in my opinion - classic piece of 80's cheese but crafted like a fine wine. Timeless. I am so glad I was a teenager in the 80's - best decade for music to be a spotty oik to!
I got hooked to this band within the 'Gold' music theme,and immediately bought the Parade album,where this song here was included.....even my father used to listen to them,at his barber shop!😅

In my opinion, this has to be one of the smoothest love songs ever made, such a relaxing tune, brings back great memories of my late teenage years.
Only those of us who lived in the 80's as teenagers can truly appreciate what a magical and special decade it was in so many ways that will probably never be equalled.
People dressed well, had pride in the way they looked and just knew how to enjoy the moment.

Spandau and other artists at the time brought great dressing back in style so that men particularly, were interested in being well dressed again. Interestingly, when you find out which artists of past eras they admired, the Rat Pack is frequently mentioned - the ultimate in style and cool. It also helps when you are this good looking!

This is how men used to look. This is how men used to dress. This was what music used to sound like, listen to the vocal harmonies. Videos were way more interesting than any movie we have out today. I am so grateful that i grew up with these beautifully talented people

How I wish 80s reborn!!! Immortal, that's the best word for that decade. 20th century music will outlive everything. It was a privilege to be an 80s teenager and fall in love with songs like these. Greetings to all of you who lived the most beautiful part of life in 80s and to all the younglings out there immune to to nowadays crap some call "music" which will be forgotten sooner than it was released and who understand what word popular music really means!
There is something very special about music from this era… this is one song I could loop all day on my playlist. The lead singer has a really nice hairstyle for 1984. Very fitting for today and classy

Not a Spandau fan at all but i love this track. The saxophone is so haunting. I was a teen when this group were in there heyday and not cool to like. i now realize that there was a class and style in the 80s that is totally absent now.
I remember cruising with friends in the car and this came on the radio. We all knew the chorus and started singing out loud, bad voices too lol. Reminiscing the good old days in the 80’s. Best years of my life where legends debut and great artist were still around.

This song is like a neverending hug. I even think Tony Hadley was a very handsome man, quite sure the girls were after him. There will be never a time like the 80ties again. This song was the sound of my desire and dreams as a teenager.
As a teen, I was so intrigued by this video. The song, the video story telling, all fits so perfectly together. Nowadays, it is hard to find such creative, emotional storytelling videos. Spandau Ballet is an iconic band of the 80's who have also shaped a generation with their style of music, just like Ultravox, OMD, U2, Simple Minds, Queen etc. Everytime I am in Berlin, I just need to listen to this band which have their name from a Berlin Borough.
Soundtrack to my Leaving Cert results in 1984! SO glad to have grown up during that time, yes, money was tight and we had to make do but a bike and radio cassette recorder and a few good books was all I needed to pass the time and enjoy those long school summer holidays, plus the great variety of music of course..
