See broaching by a hand press and by a hydraulic broaching machine and shaping with shapers. Also shaping keyways mit a home-built slotting attachment.
Hi- my 13" shaper had a clapper lifter mechanism like the one at 4:50. I can't keep it working long before the rocker slides on the flat stock without rotating the rocker. I have a piece of leather on the bottom of rocker but when it gets hot it slips. Also, there is nothing to lock the cam in the position required for max. pressure between rocker and flat stock. Do you have any suggestions? I have seen your air cylinder operated lifter but have no air supply. The electric solenoid would be a desired solution if I could reduce its temp. What material do you have on the bottom of the rocker? Thanks! Jim.
I see, Jim. The problems with mechanic lifters are well known. Perhaps you could use an electric solenoid along with a resistor to keep temperatures low. I'm not an expert on electric stuff so please consult an electric engineer. However, the solenoid lifter in our video works well save the high solenoid temperatures.
