nice clean work! I have a question I am considering tooling the rough side of some 5-6 ounce tooling leather and inlaying that into a seat as an experiment. doing pretty much as you have done here. It is a wade with a smooth out and tooled seat, so only the inlay will be roughout. The bucking rolls are also made roughout and tooled as well. I have never seen anyone else do this kind of work, except for a saddle maker from Montana who did this for a packer's mule saddle. Any thoughts pro or con?
What I would suggest is you experiment with it before you commit to tooling the final piece. I find you really have to pound it in deep in order to have it show up properly. I've tried it on various leathers and have found the only one that works satisfactorily is really heavy Herman Oak. Good luck!!
And people don't understand why a custom saddle is so expensive Let them try to hand stitch that whole seat. You do fantastic work
