  • It is still FLOGGING down! So what better place to wait it out than at a traditional Lao Homestay in the highlands of the Bolaven Plateau, Laos.
    What is a Homestay in Laos | BIG WET E11
    The big wet southern tour continues as we make our way up on to the Bolaven plateau in the province of Champasak of Southern Laos. Here we stay with a Lao family in the only type of accommodation this little village offers.. Homestay. Nong Luang is perched close to the southern edge of the plateau in amongst coffee plantations and untouched dense jungle, which is perfect for adventure travellers wanting to escape. This little known part of the plateau is great for trekking to the massive waterfalls in this area, with the opportunity of staying overnight in a treehouse in the jungle and zip lining.. Enjoy!

    Honestly this is the best way to feel immersed in something magical.
    I did this for a couple of years and you become fluent and feel different after.
    Live like a local. Best way to learn a culture and language......I should add you have to stay a few months for that to happen .

    The Bolaven Plateau , the temples are majestic and so beautiful. Staying in a Homestay must have been quite interesting with locals. It's so nice when locals open up their homes.
    Todd, what was the biggest takeaway staying in a Homestay? Would you recommend it ? As always, great video. All the best 🙏 🙏 Jim and Harriet

    Hi brother,,outstanding! Very interesting place to stay. The waterfalls definitely look worthy of a visit. Well,,buddy,,I have to admit I was another one that misunderstood the last vlog title,,and I read your reply to Costa's and felt better. That homestay place was fairly surprising inside. Couldn't in a million years,, beat the price,,even with the squatter😲🙈. Todd,,I have to say,,2 of the b&w shots were mind blowingly good. The shot of the niece in front of the beautiful temple and the one of her kneeling next to her backpack. Perfect area for b&w shots in that gorgeous wooden house. Thank you Todd,,thank you Neenee and thank you Mina for brightening every days that you're in a vlog❤❤❤ proud of you all. Ttyl,,,Marlon

    Hi Guys Well that was a diffearant experiance heading out in the pissing rain to use a squater.
    A bit of background on what the families have to do to run a home stay. It is illigal in Lao to have non family guests in your house. That said it is a law that is ignored in some places. So the families have to get a liecence, pay some taxes, and be at a standered that the government sets.

    Hi Todd, yes I am aware only Lao people are able to purchase land the same as Thailand. I believe as Thailand there a few way to get around that but I will check with a Lawyer there in Lao. What is being done in Thailand is a Thai purchase the but the house on the land title deed a non Thai can own. The land can eg in a lawyers name with a pre signed sell contract.

    They used to build the libraries on stilts and over water, to stop ants and termites eating the structure and the scriptures held within. There's a very similar library at Wat Thung Si Mueang, in Muang Ubon Ratchathani.

    • @chrisperkins7331
      @chrisperkins7331 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Citizenship is not realy an option for most farang. You need to be fairly fluent in Lao, and have a lot of money for the paperwork. Better options are the LA-B2 if you are not married to a Lao citizen, or an SP-B3 if you are.. It is possible to reduce an SP-B3 to as little as US$6 a year.

      You could ask to share the families meal with them, but most tourist would consider what most Lao eat as inedible. Local resturant would be happy to sell more farang type meals to you.

    Hey, can you do a video on the wife market? I just saw a tiktok video that there is a great male shortage. Consequently there is a market to acquire wife quality women. I'm in US, so I can't be flying over for just a date. Especially since I have my own children that personally take care of every day.
    It's somewhere around Laos.
    Can you help?

    • @chrisperkins7331
      @chrisperkins7331 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am not sure that there is a shortage of Lao men, it is more a case that many of them don't treat the woman well. To find a partner in Lao takes time, Lao is not Thailand. With the hand held tanslators that exist today communiation is not so much of an issue. As comeing to Lao is not possible I would suggest you look on line for Lao community groups that exsist near you. good luck they are worth the effort.
