they are a great band and i have never heard them called ''fake''. there are a cpl of reasons for the hatred. 1 is that they got a ton of radio play, and i mean a TON of radio play. you couldnt turn a radio on for more than 5 mins without hearing one of their songs, and they seem to be on every station every hour. so they got over played and people got sick of hearing them even tho most people liked the song when it first came out. 2 they were one of the first viral memes to come out back in the day, and they went so viral that again people got sick of seeing the memes more so than they got sick of hearing them on the radio and so the hatred grew even more widespread. but now after all these years the funny thing is if go into any bar and play a Nickelback song everyone will be singing right along knowing every word. now alot of them will also say how much they hated the band back in the day but they will still be jamming out to them when they hear one of their songs lol
Yeah.... never heard them called "Fake" before by a reactor either. Sounds like someone felt the need to try to come up with something, anything, to be able to say "Oh I see why now". GTFOH LOL
I like Nickelback. Always have. I saw them in concert headlining in 2001, when this song was released. The sing along was so loud for this song that you could barely hear the band. It was epic
It’s a video so they’re doing what they’re supposed to be doing. They’re in no way a boy band. They play all their own instruments and they are incredible live
I’ll tell you exactly why people can’t stand Nickelback, they……………………………………………………………………………………………………… and don’t you ever forget it because very few people know about it and it’s obviously true!
I'll tell you why, they blew up so huge they was steady on the radio 24/7 and every band jumped on the wagon trying to sound like them and their style just got played out. React to Rockstar by Nickleback. PS a lot of people just haters lol
As far as Nickelback I like them!! And I personally don't care what other people think about a band, if I like them I don't care I will still listen to them. One of my favorite songs of theirs is "Burn It To The Ground" Great PARTY Song!!!
This is actually my favorite Nickleback song! Back in the day a band similar to them covered this song in a club I frequented and it really grew on me. I think rock like this was being revitalized by them and many just wanted to hate on them.
Most those 'haters' were supporters when NickelBack was starting out. They saw them as 'sell outs' when they finally made it bigger. Some great music that was tainted by those 'haters'.
@@SquirminHermanthe1eyedGerman Well, then that's probably partially why you hate them, heh. Check out their album titled The State. It's extremely good.

Nickelback was hated because they used to be VERY popular and would be overplayed on the radio. so it became cool to hate them and also their sound was considered very generic. at the same time rock started to die out in popularity so like a double whammy against them. then internet memes started making fun of them even more. over the last few years tho this hates died down people are starting to change their opinion on them again and remembering that actually they had some bangers
I've never really understood the Nickelback hate. I haven't followed their career all that much, but I did listen quite a lot to the album that this song came from and it's pretty solid. Rock and metal fans can sometimes get elitist and start hating on bands that lean more toward the mainstream than their favorite bands (and I've definitely been like that in the past, too), but it rarely actually serves a purpose. Just let people enjoy them if they want to, there's no need to hate on anyone. I really, really like this song. I also really like the singer. I think he has an amazing voice. The rest of the band is pretty solid as well.
Their music was on every radio station and became just like a meme to hate on them and they sound almost identical to theory of a deadman which was out in the same timeframe
@@derekpace4722 it all started when some TH-camr desperate for clout made a video about why Nickelback was "basic" and didn't deserve the fame. And you know how the Internet is, lots of people jumped on the band wagon
The reason is every musical era has its own sound. Like you said you could tell the Beatles were late 60s. Nickleback just happened to nail the sound when it came out and it’s like it’s making fun the rest of the bands.
I don't know why everybody hates on this band they're not bad I seen him a few times in concert they're actually very great gorgeous if you like them they have a lot of good songs besides this one other good ones Rockstar so far away I figured you out bunch of great hits leather reactions looking gorgeous as always❤🌹
When I was in school, I liked Silver Side Up, The State and The Long Road albums. After that, they started getting too pop for my tastes. That's when I discovered bands like Megadeth and Metallica, so I guess I have to thank them for that.
When this song came out, it was played nonstop everywhere. Some people saw it as a decent song that really didn’t need this much radio play and started getting tired of it. Then the next three Nickelback albums that came out in the 2000s also started seeing a lot of radio play for their singles and that really fueled the fire even more. Add all the internet jokes that started flooding about the band and you got a perfect storm of over hatred. I mean at least the band embraced it and used it a bit to keep their careers going.
I still have my original Nickelback CD from when it came out. It’s like dating a fat girl, it’s cool to listen to when you’re alone, but not something you wanna take out in public and show off.
Nickelback are so good of a rocking band the haters think they are fake! I'm not one of those jump on the bandwagon haters! There is one of those haters in every crowd. I saw Nickelback this year in concert and I assure you they were rocking awesome period!

I'm not the biggest fan of their own music, but they are a damn strong live band. Some of their live covers like Sharp Dressed Man, It Aint Like That, and Sad but True show they have chops.
I believe they are a Canadian band. Check out these songs, "Far Away", "If Everyone Cared", "Gotta Be Somebody", and "Photograph". You might change your mind.
As an 80s and 90s kid whos not even a huge fan of Nickelback, I can honestly say I never got the hate for these guys and would gladly listen to their music before I listen to garbo pretty boy bands like Nsync, Backstreet Boys. Just saying....
The song Photograph shows their authenticity more. I always thought they were too clowned on for being late era grungy but they've got a lot of good songs
They used to play live in my hometown a lot at a bar I went to before they made it. that time was a blur to me, the late 90s. They were not from my hometown, but they played so much I thought they were a local band. Then I heard them on a local rock station and thought it was cool they were supporting a local band. I always thought they were a local band until I saw their rockstar video on mtv or youtube or whatever... it had a lot of celebrities and that's when I finally realized they were not a local band. Another tidbit from that era is a song during one of the last times I saw them live: the lead singer was introducing a new song called the "Shroom Song" about getting high on shrooms and cliff diving. When it played on the radio it was called "Leader of Men." I'm guessing that was about the time they got famous because they changed names of songs to more artistic titles and I stopped seeing them at my local bar. My opinion of them has never changed, they were a decent dive bar band, but their desire to succeed made them a little corny at the national level. I never hated them but I never really loved them either.
He said he wrote this song when him and his girlfriend got into fight and went downstairs to his place to escape and was singing and playing this and he went back upstairs and she told him he needs to make a banger out of it cause it sounded good...great reaction!!!
I could never understand the hate for these guys. Two songs that turned me on to them were Never Again and Side of a Bullet. Now The Foo Fighters I could understand. Much love to Dave Groh, because I love the stuff he did outside of the band, but, I just couldn't get into their stuff. Maybe, that's just me.
Nickelback is a great band... the problem with people is they like to get on bandwagons and follow instead of thinking for themselves.... if a bunch of people say they hate Nickelback, a lot of people will start saying it just to be included. The word is "pathetic"
The videos to Someday from Nicleback will surprise you. I highly recommend it. The singer is Canadian. I also recommend listening bto Black Veil Brides.
Everyone hates on nickleback if they are with their friends, but they jam to them when they come on the radio. Nickleback is good and they have lots of bangers
I never hated or liked them. I've seen a couple of their live performances and they definitely have the chops needed to play more complex rock/heavy metal but I guess they stick to their formulaic sound because that's what made them popular. Nothing wrong with that. A long while ago I saw a clip of them playing a Pantera song and they did not miss one single note. Keep up the cool reactions and keep on rockin'! 🤘
This was a massive hit. I dont understand the hate either. I dont listen to them and never will, none of my friends listen to them, and never will, I dont have any of their albums and never will, never seen them live, and never will. This was a massive hit and thats all I know about them. Im vaguely remembering they had another hit song and video. Possibly about fake Hollywood. IDK.
The whole thing about people hating on Nickelback is due to their overwhelming success. They were played Soo much some folks got tired of it and started talking trash like lil kids instead of simply listening to something else...
I'm a Pink Floyd , Led Zepplin, Hozier fan but I like Nickelback too. My favorite song of theirs is "Photograph". I don't understand why they got the hate.
People hate Nickelback because radio stations and media told them to. It became popular. It really is that shallow. Their album sales and ticket sales show the reality.
Nickelback is mostly hated because they blew up so big so they were easily hated on. I kinda like them because 1st they aren’t bad but also they were on Roadrunner Records which mostly handled metal bands that weren’t nearly as big so the way I look at it if it wasn’t for the money Nickelback brought in we wouldn’t have some of the other bands we loved.
I think a lot of people didn't like the amount of airtime they got. They became very big very fast and got a lot of play time on the radio. I absolutely love them. Lots of good songs that I won't even request any. Whatever you pick will be good. 😊
When nickelback released this song they had no hate at this time. This song rocket launched them into super stars. So a little info you cannot go off of this video and song to develop an idea on how they were hated.
Do you like SiR? He had a song called John Redcorn, the music video is cool but DAMN! The version he did for Colors is amazing. Personally I haven't really listened to Nickelback's music but I have heard a few of their songs on the radio back in the early 2000s.
Nickelback are fellow Canadians!!,,during their peak, they were probably one of my older brothers favorite bands...,personally, I'm mostly neutral towards them. I like their music well enough, but I wouldn't be in any rush to buy their albums. But, that's not meant as a knock on them...they've received an exorbitant amount of radio play/ music video rotation, here, in Maple Leaf land, and I just got burned out on them. Still, happy for their continued success.
I believe this was their first hit, and they weren’t hated yet…yet…yet. Calling them fake isn’t the right word. They’re have a very commercial sound, or you could say an overproduction. They’re have a less commercial sound with most of their deep cover songs. Most of those songs are about strippers, liquor, and sex.
I recall when they got the gig to play at Journeys home town and then there was hate ..........they are better then many main stream bands who have one hit........Listen to Burn it to the Ground live
Love Nickelback. One of the best live bands I have seen. I love their songs Rockstar and Savin' Me. Their album Silver Side Up is really good but they do seem to have very simple song structures and they had a fairly generic sound for the early 2000's.
"everyone hates Nickelback, until Nickelback comes on".
Then I leave 😂
Big facts. Lol. No idea why they get so much hate. 😂

IDK.
I feel like (from my experience) the hate was a joke that people started to take literally
Nickleback's Animals is such a banger and I love it for it's story telling. We've all been there. funny and rocking.
The whole thing about people hating on Nickelback is due to their overwhelming success. They were played Soo much some folks got tired of it and started talking trash like lil kids instead of simply listening to something else...
There is absolutely nothing wrong with Nickelback. Saw them live twice. Both were fantastic shows. Never understood the hate.
I think it was because the radio and music stations over played them back in the day but nobody hates them…. They have a few good songs
I like Nickelback…their song, “Far Away” is one of my favorites! ❤
I'm a Pink Floyd , Led Zepplin, Hozier fan but I like Nickelback too. My favorite song of theirs is "Photograph". I don't understand why they got the hate.
I never understood the haters! Their music is 🔥. Savin Me is my favorite song. It's a banger
Never hated them never really cared either way . Listen to metal or country mainly. Still believe the 70's and 80's music the best yrs for bands
right & rock on! Gen X music is the best
Love your reactions, keep em coming!!!!!!!!!
I think a lot of people didn't like the amount of airtime they got. They became very big very fast and got a lot of play time on the radio. I absolutely love them. Lots of good songs that I won't even request any. Whatever you pick will be good. 😊
I was listen this band during 00s... My top 3 favorite bands
When nickelback released this song they had no hate at this time. This song rocket launched them into super stars. So a little info you cannot go off of this video and song to develop an idea on how they were hated.
I don’t know why people don’t like then and I don’t care I love them
I realize I'm late to the party, but if you've not reacted to their song 'Burn It To The Ground,' I highly recommend that you do.
Do you like SiR? He had a song called John Redcorn, the music video is cool but DAMN! The version he did for Colors is amazing. Personally I haven't really listened to Nickelback's music but I have heard a few of their songs on the radio back in the early 2000s.
They are so beautiful, i love them so much.
I seen them in concert and it was a awesome concert !! I went even though people were hating and I had a great time .
I think the reason people used to hate nickleback is because it was on every 4 seconds back in the 2000s
Listen to some of Nickelbacks early songs, like "breathe" and "where"
I saw them back in the day playing a local bar for $5 cover charge. My friend dragged me out to the show because I had never heard of them before 🤣
REMEMBER...That hate for certain bands will ALWAYS be suspect. Check out their song Photograph
You should check out “Burn it to the ground” just an awesome song and video, in my opinion, lol
This was the biggest hit of the year when it came out in (2001).
I've never hated Nickleback! I have asked people why they hate Nickleback, and so far, no one can answer that question.
Live at Sturgis is a great live video of these guys.
