This is my favorite bass riff by nirvana, along with breed and lithium. I love bands that take full advantage of bass instead of just echoing the lead parts. I'm a lead guitarist by the way.
"I didn't throw bunch of fills there, I tried to keep it as simple as possible... And that was, sort of, an unspoken rule." Dave Grohl. Well, Krist decided to break the rule :D awesome bassline anyway.
I never realized how sloppy the bassline was done on the original recording. There were a few times that Krist ended up dragging the tempo, which is to be expected for a bassline as complex as that. Your bass cover is great. Didn't drag at all, didn't end up "burping" the notes too much, totally flawless. Amazing job.
This was a really great cover!! I like the fact you didn't use a pick, because I think it sounds so much smoother and more melodic without one. You're really good!
In several songs you may feel like a certain instrument is dominating in a good way and basically 'makes' the song. I really feel like that too sometimes but i shouldn't because every single member of the band is important to give the song the ultimate sound from what we are hearing. I really think krist his bass is truly amazing in Love buzz because it doesn't really change alot.
@RebelThoughts "[...]there are a lot of times where I've had to sit behind the drum set and show Dave what I've been thinking in my head, and he'll incorporate that idea. For the most part, it's always been like 80 percent my song that I've written at home and introduced to the band later on in practice."
This song isn't too hard in standard tuning. In fact, it might sound even better because of the crazy sliding you have to do. And if you don't want to slide, you can do it without having to go lower than the 5th fret.
How come a guy from Croatia have arrived in Aberdeen, Washington, and composed and followed any song it has been given to him? Just like Duff McKagan in Seattle. They have inherited the influence of an independent bass perfomance, such as Roger Glover and Glenn Hughes started it from before... Nice:)
It sounds good using fingers in that low tuning. Most people seem to play it in standard, and it sounds good with a pick in standard. You have just mash the strings really hard though with pick
been trying to figure this out all afternoon - I've got most of it but it's killing my hands... if only I knew it was in C! same thing happened when I tried to figure out Heart Shaped Box on guitar - my brother poked his head round the door and said "it's in Drop D"... after that it was the easiest song to work out in the world :/

One of the best basslines ever created in my opinion. It never takes a break. It keeps the energy flowing.
