I rode Gavia in 96’ before they paved the road while following the Giro. It’s a 10 mile climb, you go through multiple climate zones from bottom to top; above the tree line has incredible views. The day we rode, a helicopter landed by the tunnel because they said someone was having a heart attack! It’s a monster climb!
We did passo Gavia last year on MTBs. Sadly I started filming this year so I only have some pictures from it.... I have to come back one day with my go pro. Will never forget that climb and how it felt at very top!

I did it 2019 as my dream was to do stelvio gavia ,mortirolo In one day .I did in June but road was closed,,it was so cold,I have never felt such cold! Ice everywhere, il try to upload to TH-cam ? But I did the big 3! There is no mountain as epic or spiritual like the gavia not the dolomite or even col di nivolet. It was a theatre of war for Italy with Soldering fighting in minus 44 degrees Celsius,now I understand.it is so epic , to understand you must ride a bike or walk it . Congratulations .if I can suggest best time is to get to top before 2pm or after 7pm as the gavia absorbs clouds in the afternoon,to watch it is a wonder.
Brutal climb. I did it on a Thomson Trans Dolomite tour 4-5 years ago. I cracked going up. The best part was the long downhill descent to our hotel in Bormia. Awesome review, I look forward to more. Keep up the good work and keep pedaling!
Great video! I did not think I could learn more about the Gavia, but I did from this video. I've done the other side from Bormio and it is epic and I know this side is even better.

hola marc! muy buen contenido, si venis para latinoamerica un día te recomiendo la "cuesta de caracoles" del paso cristo redentor, que une Chile con Argentina a 3200 mts. Desde el cruze se ve el Cerro Aconcagua, el punto mas alto de la cordillera de los Andes y de América. saludos!
Gracias Marc, podrías decirme la configuración de grabacion con la GoPro (resolución y fps, amplitud de angulo, color, nitidez). Me flipa comon se ve ¿Tiene post producción no la cámara da ese resultado sin más? También te quería preguntar tu experiencia con la 10. Al inicio daba mucho problema de poca batería, calentamiento y apagarse la cámara. Dicen que unas actualizaciones de firmware más las baterías enduro mejoraron bastante aquellos problemas. ¿Cuál es tu experiencia con esto? Me preocupa sobremanera el tema de que pueda apagarse pronto, ya que la usaría también para grabar puertos, con grabaciones largas. Muchas gracias y ánimo con el canal!!!

Me gusta la cantidad de encuadre que obtienes y que sea en modo líneal parece, sin ojo de pez. Algo así me gustaría obtener. Gracias!
