I honestly think that boy is probably the film that encapsulates Taika's style the best, from his surrealist aspects to his balance between comedy and drama, most importantly is a movie about a child experiencing or understanding a sobering reality about their life, that most of his movies talk about, but boy being inspired, and probably transferred complete aspects of his actual life, is the one that I feel the most honest, he just has an amazing sensibility about all his films and understands the point of view of a child in such a realistic way

Taika Waititi has become one of my favourite directors of all time just from jojo rabbbit, which is also because of the fact he is the first time i have ever paid attention to the directing of a movie. Im an actress myself, and hv directed small shows and films here and there, but Waititi puts so much personal flare and style into his films that its hard to miss and not appreciate. Even when i direct, or watch others direct, they're goal is to just make the show as good as it can be, not neccessarily give it personal flavour, which is why i love Waititi. I hope in my future endeavours i can be as great as him one day.

Although I absolutely did not like "Jojo Rabbit" I will not deny it had some cinematic qualities, whereas (as Scorsese put it) the not cinema, but theme park "Thor: Ragnarok" on a budget of more than 12 "Jojo Rabbit" movies were so empty, indifferent, and not even funny. Compared to "Thor" it is a great experience and very entertaining to sit on the balcony and watch for 2 hours and 10 minutes. It is not a critique of Taika Waititi, of course it is great with good catering and everyone needs to make some money.

The whole, "getting around child labor laws," is throwing me for a loop. Nothing like a director, dressed as Hitler, optimizing his budget by doubling the labor that a child performs.

I really don’t like how little room the MCU gives directors to express themselves in, but I’ll admit that Ragnarok was definitely one of the very few exceptions. Even if it wasn’t written by him, that movie does feel very in Watiti’s wheelhouse. I just wish it looked way better, the first two Thor’s were vastly inferior to this yet still look really good. Such a shame how bad marvel visuals have fallen
