For anyone planning on using drag and drop for wavetables: the three modes all work a little different, if it's your first time I'd use either pitch slice or vocode. Pitch slice will detect the pitch of your source and slice the table up accordingly. Vocode will set every frame of your table to the same phase (from a random seed), if you're getting a nasty table from pitch slice, vocode should smooth it out a lot. Wavetable import slices by a ratio of sample import, and unless your table is perfectly tuned, it will sound like a mess. Anything that is already a table, like from serum, should work fine, but you should copy these into your folder anyways to save time. tldr: use pitch slice or vocode mode for loading samples as tables

Pro version (in order to support Matt) is under consideration, as soon as I'll have budget. Another synth under consideration is Phase Plant (kiloHearts).
Downloaded it, loaded 2 wavetables based on sounds in my folder, put some unison on one of them, and instantly got amazing sounds without even trying to look at any other part of the synth. I loaded a vocal chop loop in there and automated it to basically write a melodic part, sounds great. Such an easy way to get variety across your notes and write stuff you otherwise wouldn't! Didn't have to fiddle with the sound to make it interesting, just made it a plucky low pass 8th note pulse for some house and put some reverb to get this beautifully hazy sound
Matt needs some serious help. Why anyone would give this away free is nuts. I bought the 20 dollar early special yesterday. I feel guilty even getting this for 20 dollars. Matt will win 2 awards this year. Best plugin for 2020. Also craziest man alive. Absolutely crazy giving away for free.

If your not online it shows error plz make sure you have internet connection in the oscillator. Its a very easy synth if you know serum, phase plant , icarus or pigments. If your new to synthesis this will be like flying the space shuttle.

CPU efficiency. ..An update on my comment a day ago. In haste when I 1st got Vital I ran a few chord loops through it, using some of it's presets. Some of these presets use 100's of modulations and all the unisons, and use the sampler, so a certainty to make it very CPU hungry, especially if playing chords... some of the presets have gone OTT with trying to use all it's features resulting in overkill (they probably have a use somewhere, but not for me). In all honesty and fairness, it's a brilliant synth and CPU friendly (unless using a zillion modulations and unison) I'm making this my go to synth from this day on, it's easy to use and get results fast, plus sounds amazing. Go get it. A big thank you to Matt great job...
@@2mftoomanyflowz953 I'm totally broke this month, had to pass the other offer, but definitely buying pro plan or the subscription , if I dont support a fellow musician, who will? Lol 🤩
I spent all day on just the first patch. Man this is going to take some time to explore if I get side tracked like that just turning it on for first time
You are the first tester to at least make an attempt at something musical - albeit briefly. So far all I’ve heard from everyone of the “special beta testers” is modulated farts, randomised arpeggiated screeching and 6 modulation layers of tuneless noise. I gather there must be lots of sci-fi movies out there waiting to be scored. Blade Runner 2049, 2050... and Dune 7 ‘The shifting sands’ TV series... On the 24th I’ll grab the free copy and see if I can make something musical (let me think... er, I know - a ‘Song’) (maybe a complex one). If it seem to be Vital (or even Useful) for making music, I’ll buy it. :-) Happy noise making everyone! :-)
@Venus Theory - I enjoyed playing with their free demo and in my opinion, paying $80 for Vital Audio's top offer is a great deal, considering you get 400+ presets and 150 wavetables, if only it wasn't for the fact I recently discovered Surge XT and Dexed, both fantastic free open source synthesisers. Thanks for the informative review.
Alrighty.! I only use free plugins in my production videos. With this one, I don't think I will need to combine a lot of plugins to get what I want (especially those bass sounds). Edit - Thanks for the video, Cameron. Also, I'll definitely be paying for this beast when I start earning money with my music. Think I might feel guilty by using it for free. Also, gonna do the same for Helm. Huge respect for Tytel !
You should feel guilty. You can get this for 20 dollars. Dont tell me everyone doesnt have 20 dollars. Matt spent 3 yrs putting this together. 95 percent will take his work and see ya. And yes i bought the 20 dollar early special yesterday.
@@jameshutchins7042 Dude, did you read the full comment. I did write I will be paying. Things like these definitely need the encouragement and support they deserve. It's just that, I can't do it now. & yes, I can't spare anything at the moment. I'm in a very tight situation after quitting my day job. Don't assume things, bro.
I’m super new to music production but Vital is a name I keep seeing around. It’s a hobby for now but I have no problem paying for products that are good and can make me better at what I want to do, faster. Super cool plugin that I intend to invest in. The free version is cool but I like more options from veteran sound designers to get me up and running - I can always iterate from there.
You know, you have pretty much the exact same voice than the youtuber/guitarist Pete thorn, and an alike looking haircut! but different eyes...Great tutorial !
When u see someone say I cant wait until the 24th what they are saying. I CANT WAIT TO GET THIS FREE. 20 dollars is to much. I got yhe early special for 20 dollars yesterday.
16:50 it’s not a whole note a whole note has four beats that’s a quarter note that has one beat but when you add the dot on the side it adds 1.5x to the beats so that would make the quarter note have 1.5 beats out of four which is why it slightly sounds out of time
This is a whole note as the division value is 1/1 relative to the tempo - the quarter note is not related at all to the timing factor of the LFO, that's just the UI element to indicate tempo relative values. The dotted note means it's the dotted note version of the set value, so in this case that would be dotted whole notes. The 'out of time part' is just creating a sort of polyrhythmic feel combining dotted and regular values - Deadmau5 would be a great example of this technique.
Starting with WW I it was said that the loud sub-bass throbs of the large guns could make people involuntarily "evacuate". I think your voice has the same effect.
So, I have a question: Going apples to apples, throw prices out the window: Would you recommend the full, $80 of this over Waldorf Nave? They seem very similar in capability. Is this just as powerful? Easy to use? Good on cpu? What say you all?
🤯This man is a Vital master, woow. A question, How did you learn this VST?, self-taught or video tutorials?. Thanks for the deep review and the answer back.
Thanks haha. I work as a sound designer, so I'm pretty versed in synths and such so it's fairly easy for me to just pick up a synth and start making stuff with it. However, I'll be looking to create some 'Vital for beginners' content soon! If you are on Discord, feel free to join my chatroom (link in description) - there's tons of producers and sound designers (myself included) who are happy to answer questions and help you get started with synths and sound design!
Yo...hopefully you get this man. I am fairly new to this but really dig Vital, so thanks for the recommendation. I also loved your "Stochas is Dopeass" video and have been playing around with both of these tools and want to use them in conjunction. One problem. When using Stochas, by using the option to map the output to multiple MIDI channels, I am able to use other synths and map the MIDI channel 1, MIDI channel 2, etc. but in Vital I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the MIDI data from Stochas' individual MIDI channels and map it to, say, one level as bass, another level as pads, another level as leads (all mapped to MIDI channels 1, 2, 3, respectively). I am beginning to fear that I am not able to do something like you did at 9:32 in the Stochas video because of this. Which sucks. But I can try to use other sounds in another synth and then port the MIDI data over to different Vital instances. It would be immensely helpful if you could help me figure this out. Thank you so much. Glad I discovered your channel, as I have learned a lot in a short period of time.

Go get it. A big thank you to Matt great job...
been waiting for this synth for a looooong time, 7 more days to go!!!! lets go
Early access on inthemix s channel for $20 worth supporting Matt if u can
@@2mftoomanyflowz953 I'm totally broke this month, had to pass the other offer, but definitely buying pro plan or the subscription , if I dont support a fellow musician, who will? Lol 🤩
learned a lot of cool new ways to play with vital even though I don't understand much about synths yet. Thanks
I spent all day on just the first patch. Man this is going to take some time to explore if I get side tracked like that just turning it on for first time
We gotta pay our respects for matt, the true god of free synths
Got Vital a few weeks back, I'm impressed and love it.
Brilliantly helpful video pal, thanks!
Wow! The sounds from this synth are just incredible.
Happy noise making everyone! :-)
My guess is 95% of the people interested in this synth are knob twiddlers.
@@MrMikomi The best I’ve seen is Michael at ‘In the Mix’ channel.
Agree with you mate. Love the music you make with Freeware, especially the trailer Music. You killed that one, keep slaying🔥
You should feel guilty. You can get this for 20 dollars. Dont tell me everyone doesnt have 20 dollars. Matt spent 3 yrs putting this together. 95 percent will take his work and see ya. And yes i bought the 20 dollar early special yesterday.
@@jameshutchins7042 Not everyone is as lucky as you my homie
@@jameshutchins7042
Dude, did you read the full comment. I did write I will be paying. Things like these definitely need the encouragement and support they deserve. It's just that, I can't do it now.
& yes, I can't spare anything at the moment. I'm in a very tight situation after quitting my day job.
Don't assume things, bro.

Thanks man
Outstanding - thank you - greetings from Iceland
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers friend!
I'm definitely getting the 80 dollar version to support Matt.
I swear every time I see this synth i want the 24th to come faster
you can already get it. account.vital.audio/inthemix
When u see someone say I cant wait until the 24th what they are saying. I CANT WAIT TO GET THIS FREE. 20 dollars is to much. I got yhe early special for 20 dollars yesterday.
Looks like that option has ended, and we must wait until November 24th.
@@jameshutchins7042 Can you make 808s and kicks on vital?
I haven't tried it yet but still amazed that it is free. Yeah Matt is truly a nice guy!! Going to pay for it anyway.
This thing is dope. Looks amazing too. Downloaded after watching and don’t regret.
Im surprised this is free, amazing!
Great presentation. I'm actually interested in your vocal chain.
Starting with WW I it was said that the loud sub-bass throbs of the large guns could make people involuntarily "evacuate". I think your voice has the same effect.
So, I have a question:
Going apples to apples, throw prices out the window:
Would you recommend the full, $80 of this over Waldorf Nave? They seem very similar in capability. Is this just as powerful? Easy to use? Good on cpu? What say you all?
Alright, now I'm buying this.
Superb mini overview
Thanks for the video, this was cool!
$80 is absolutely PERFECT pricing, I’m getting the Pro tier of this puppy.
Great synth, great video. I'm off to buy it now
Finally something vital in 2020 !
Thank you for the video. Was waiting for Vital since I played with Helm.
I'll also be picking me up one of those flasks someday keep upk the good Content brother hello from Ireland the land of not much happenin!
This synth is Crazzy good and easy to use! Thanks making me aware about and for the fire presets DAWg!
Been using this. It really is an incredible synth.
It really is. The fact that it's free too is just 🤯
Matt is a true hero haha grabbing the pro version soon. I am trying not to hype myself too much, everything these days is too hyped. But this should be a heap of fun.
This looks so beautiful
hold my coffee, vital subscription, downloading, setting up, carry on, ready to cook up some waves
19:21 Is it me, or does that sound almost like a Lightsaber? xD
Serum Killer!!!11! Muaha, that's right, I said it!
Seriously though, pretty neat considering this is for free with almost 100% functionality. Thanks VT for demoing it for us.
Glad you liked the video!
Very cool software. Very nice video. Thanks.
Great video, thank you!
Serum for the poors? absolutely not! I'm using Vital Free, this synth is just incredible, IMO better than (expensive) Serum, have more features.
Thanks to Matt (Tytel) about its jewel named Vital, also thanks Cameron for this video.
Greetings from France!
The One Note Song Song is so dope! Nice example.
Can't wait to try it out
When i try to download it my antivirus says there is trojan virus. Im not going to download it, but i already paid for the presets :( What do i do? There is no costumer support.
Turn off your antivirus, it works fine, no problems!
Awesome review 👍👍👍
You should do the pants joke you did on the sound design vst video your signature intro for morning coffee with cameron
Haha maybe!
seems this Vital little brute has a lot of potential
