I was initially in the "we probably need to cut tax spending on old people" camp until I looked up how little the state pension is in the UK. I was so very wrong. The state pension is about as low as it can possibly go to survive in the UK - around £960 a month. Labour are just conservatives in disguise as they will continue to do anything but tax the corporations for their fair share.

      @@countfosco8535clowns think like you.
You know nothing about nothing yet have silly little opinions about your nothingness.
Tories and Labour are implementing the same policies and bringing the country to the same Marxist place of net zero.
You should have the intelligence to read net zero, UK energy act 2030 and united nations sustainable development 2030 (in particular goal 10.7) goal. 10.7 is particularly nasty and the inverse of itself.
10.7 To address inequality globally in particular the global South.
This goal isn't about raising living standards of the global South and East no, but to fill Northern Europe and North America countries with the populations with the populations of the global South.
By 2040 most of not all European countries native citizens will be a minority.
By 2050 natives will be in an extreme minority in our own countries.
The winter fuel cut, and council tax exemption cut are simply to set legal precedent so UK energy act 2023 and net zero can be legally implemented.
Probably too long for you to read.

You will only lose the payment if you are not already on or do not put in a successful claim for pension credit.
The current government estimates that up to 850,000 pensioner households may be entitled to Pension Credit from when their time under the previous government, but they do not claim it and so it is trying to move them over onto it. Some pensioners think because they’ve got savings or own their home that they would not get any Pension Credit, yet this is not the case.
You should look into making a claim to see if you are eligible because the previous government would not have wanted you to be on it.

Luxury. We used to hafta get 'out the lake, 3 am, clean the lake, eat a handful 'o hot gravel, work 20 hours a day at mill, for a penny a month, and dad would beat us about the head and neck with a broken bottle, if we were lucky.
Well o course we had it tough. We used to have to get up outta shoebox, in middle of night, and lick the road clean with our tongues. We had half a handful of freezing cold gravel, worked at mill for 24 hours for a penny a year, When we got home, our dad would slash it in two with bread-knife.
Right.. I used to get up in the morning at night at half-past-ten at night, half an hour before I went to bed, Eat a lump of freezing cold poison, work 28 hours a day at mill, and pay da mill owner to let us work there. The conservatives then let things run and increase, whilst Starmer fought them in the background, as a barrister, succeeding in getting the illegals taxpayer funded benefits, and as a result of his fighting on the illegals side, a clause in the government's bill of the time seeking to make illegals ineligible was dropped. Now we have starmer to finish things off. So the cause and completion are labour. The conservatives were the useless lot in the middle who, whilst they didnt create it, allowed starmer to secure those benefits and figures to spiral. I'd argue conservatives were inept, but labour and in particular starmer, are downright evil and quite intentional in their targeting of the most vulnerable of society who have more than earned their place in it.

My mum and dad were, like millions of people in the UK, hard working (but not especially well paid). They bought their home and had some savings. But the total amount of pensions they received were pretty low. But, they would never have dreamed of claiming from the state. Many elderly people would see it as a sign of shame just applying for pension credit. My mum was house bound for the last 3 years of her life and apart from walking about 10 paces she couldn't go out. My sister applied for the carers allowance for her (my sister went everyday to get her shopping and sort out her lunch etc.) and initially the claim was turned down. After a quick discussion over the phone it decision was over turned. I THINK THEY DELIBERATELY MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO CLAIM - I THINK THEY WILL SAY NO UNLESS YOU ARGUE - WHICH MANY ELDERLY PEOPLE WOULDN'T DREAM OF DOING. It is the same in the NHS - YOU HAVE TO ARGUE TO GET THE TREATMENT YOU THINK YOU NEED. AND THEY DEFINITELY IGNORE ANYBODY WHO IS OVER 70!

Covid is a thing now. Covid was a death sentence for pensioners just 2/3years ago, and that was with a winter fuel allowance.
Covid and no heating will probably mean hypothermia and then pneumonia, effectively seeing thousands of pensioners slowly dying of suffocation. Not to mention the strain on the already crippled NHS because of the unsustainable immigrant situation. Thousands of our elders who have paid tax into this system all their lives, have more than likely done their national service, have solidly served the UK all their lives, for some immigrants to take away what has been historically promised to them through their payments towards their national insurance contributions.
Yet immigrants can take this away from them without doing anything at all to benefit the country?

A health service on its knees? When the Tories had 14 years to train enough doctors and nurses, but they failed to do so; instead refusing visas for medical staff from overseas as they might be called immigrants. Whenever you look at the state of the country now as Labour have only just taken the reins, remember: 14 years.
