Gentlemen another great report. I would like to ask a favor of you both. Both my youngest son (early 40’s) and I (lived through the 60’s twice) are being examined for the same type of cancer. If you can send some prayers our way, especially for my son Dan I would appreciate it. Thank you both and God bless you.

The UFO commission is tasked with a bureaucratic mission...There is something so Monty Pythonesque about this statement. That you said it with a straight face is an understated tribute to the frozen and the chosen. (A sobriquet I learned form an Anglican acquaintance!)

Jesus said "I am the vine and your are the branches etc" that's a good start to give life to the Church.

Thanks for naming the demoralization in the clergy.

If the clergy abandon traditional biblical morals, is not the de-moralization self-inflicted? Of course, if the government and church administration are both trying to enforce conformity, it becomes a matter of how long any clergy can persist in resistance. Is to be a Chr istian in Britain contingent on being a member of the Church of England?

I'd love to see your takes on the wisdom or folly of a church institution (completely?) emptying and refilling all its leadership positions at one time, as will the ACNA in June. New archbishop, new Court for the Trial o/a Bishop, new Tribunal, not sure what else.

Has anyone been watching Mr. Bates vs. The Post Ofc on PBS? The evil Paula Vennells, Post Ofc CEO and CofE priest, who we've heard about on AU is featured. She was right in the middle that scandal/injustice and the King eventually took her CBE honors. This would be a great AU episode.

I don't understand why so many in Christian Leadership struggle so much. All they have to do is read and study The Bible and then teach it and apply it. Literally...
So many of the answers to so many of the problems we face are contained in the pages of Scripture. And what's more, we have The Holy Spirit to help and guide is.
I don't understand why The CoE has and is struggling so much.

Spiritual warfare. The modern church has forgotten that it needs to engage in it, and failed to teach how to do so.

Testing is one thing. It requires appropriating God's grace to endure and thrive through faith. Judgment is another thing. The appropriate response to judgment is repentance. Lacking repentance, judgment continues and increases. By repentance, God sanctifies His judgment upon the Christian so "then they will know that He is God."

Mr. Kallsen, it didn't begin with wokeness. It began with the heresies of modernity, and its characteristic of "vital immanence."

As an EO, I’m ashamed of behavior in the name of Orthodoxy. I know in a communion stretching all the way back to Christ there’s a lot of history with a lot of sin & rubbish. But from whom does “holy war” come? Not Christ Who preached “blessed are the peacemakers,” but Muhammed and, later, the pope who preached crusades. The ROC is my grandparent in the faith, and should know better. It’s one thing to ouch out the Teutonic Knights, it’s another to be as the Teutons.

The left gets away with their behavior and policies because the right is too cowardly to fight them. With very few exceptions, the churches of the west have been silent for far too long on the injustices in the world. The socialists would not have gotten this far if the church had been doing its job. I have not lost my faith in Jesus Christ but I have lost my faith in churches. God bless the Africans and pray for them, they are living the true Christian courage. Perhaps we can get out from under all this church hierarchical foolery and find our courage too. Pray for us.

Did all the churches in England and Wales suddenly lose their heritage when Henry VIII split from Rome? What is heritage anyway, surely faithfulness to the Apostles' teaching trumps everything? If Gavin Ashenden wants to believe every eucharist he ever presided over as an Anglican Priest was a charade because his orders were 'utterly null and void' then that's on him. I agree with Calvin Robinson although I find it odd that a curate with a entry degree in theology would 'own' an intellect like Gavin with a PhD in church history.

      1. Regarding the dust up between Rev. Calvin Robinson and Gavin Ashenden as to whether or not the continuity of the ancient English Church was maintained during and after the 16th century Reformation, I would like to offer the following regarding the status of the Marian bishops (during the reign of Catholic Queen Mary, 1553-58) who were subject to the re-imposition of Protestantism under Queen Elizabeth, in the form of the previous 1552 Book of Common Prayer that was authored by Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer during the reign of boy King Edward VI, 1547-53 :
"In fairness to the Marian bishops, it must be pointed out that only two of the seventeen apostatized: Kitchen of Llandaff and possibly Stanley of Sodor and Man. Ten of the twenty-seven sees of England and Wales were already vacant. Morgan of St. David's died before he could be arrested. Fourteen bishops, twelve deans, fifteen heads of colleges and between two and three hundred clergy resigned their offices or were deprived."
"Of the fourteen faithful bishops, Scott of Chester and Goldwell of St. Asaph's went into exile, Watson of Lincoln died, and the remaining eleven died in prison. The ancient Catholic hierarchy of England and Wales thus became extinct. The fidelity of the Marian bishops is a source of embarrassment to Anglicans who attempt to demonstrate continuity between the Protestant religion established by Queen Elizabeth and the ancient Catholic Church in England."
[Michael Davies, Cranmer's Godly Order: Roman Catholic Books, Ft. Collins, CO, USA; p. 291]
      2. If you like, I can provide you the names of those eleven Marian bishops, their sees and the year of their deaths in prison during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.

Isn't the very idea of a succession duff? The church has only ever been those who put their faith in Christ for the forgiveness of sins, whether inside or outside institutional churches, and regardless of whether their ministers had had the 'correct' hands laid on them.
The inner reality is what counts not conformity with external religious ceremony.

      1. So which would you have preferred: Either (A) the dissolution of the English monarchy and episcopacy by the Puritans in the 17th century or (B) the Restoration that brought back the monarchy and the episcopacy which remains in place today?
      2. If the latter, then you would appear to acknowledge the necessity of an institutional church.
