Jimmy Barnes went to Elizabeth West High 1971 I think .. we knew him as Jim Swan back then he was there for approx 6 months before leaving & going to Elizabeth High he did confirm that with his 1st book but some discrepancy about when his name changed to Barnes
Hey buddy. Jimmy doesn't mention it in the film but he does mention attending EWHS in his book the film is based on. He didn't really have anything good to say about it which is why I didn't bother to mention it in the video.
Yeah, he does seem to generalise and make sweeping statements when it comes to people of Elizabeth. When you read his book though it seems pretty clear most of the problems he experienced growing up were related to his parents, who clearly were carrying some pretty deep wounds and traumas from their own past. I think no matter where the Swann family had landed those issues would have followed.
@@elizabeththatwas Jimmy Barnes bagged Elizabeth on 60 minutes years ago, saying you would block a punch before shaking someone's hand in Elizabeth. I think obviously his upbringing wasn't great, as far as DV and alcohol was involved, but the story in his movie about jumping out of his mates window,would traumatise anyone and leave a scar of your memories of a place no matter where it was.

para west adult campus - went there some 20 years ago to redo my year 11.. I'd love to go back again..

It might be because in an interview with JB he basically said all those who lived in elizabeth west were of a lower class of people.
