The Fortepiano provides such a gentle expression to Schubert's music. Ronald Brautigam has been a career-long gift to the music of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
It sounds so much better than a modern muddy piano to me. The music was written for it and it shows. I'll never understand why people speak ill about historically informed performances.
@@SeraphimLeo I fully agree with you, Seraphim. Interestingly, I started hearing the great advantage of Fortepianos playing the music of their time when I first heard some of the Haydn Trios played using a fortepiano rather than the modern instrument -- When a modern Pianoforte is used they tend to drown out some of the violin and cello. The fortepiano really offers a full character to the lovely Haydn Trios. (And, of course the wonderful Brautigam recordings of Mozart)
It's not a tuning issue, that's how all fortepianos sound. It's closer to the actual sound when Schubert compose red this piece than modern day pianos.
@@peterbogdanoff Tempo equals the speed of music a passage is or should be played. One can on antique fortepianos play faster than the mechanisms are able to respond.

Schubert so zu hören, macht großen Spaß,ja. Vielen Dank.
So many subtle textures and colours not found on a modern piano.
The comfort of his performance is irreplaceable
exquisite playing from the maestro
This is plainly told, "great music. Thanks!
Paul McNulty's instruments are AMAZING!

this was the kind of piano Schubert used!
Such an interpretation! And the dynamic he manages to extract from the piano is exceptional!

Stupendous playing on a stupendous instrument-wonderful music by a wonderful composer played by a wonderful pianist.
This piece was made for fortepiano it sounds amazing. Especially the 3rd movement.
Of course all they had back there, but I get you.
Love hearing on an instrument of the soundscape that Schubert heard. Also, a solo warrior: turning his own pages.
Fantastic interpretation and very fine, dialed in fortepiano.
Very beautiful
So beautiful played🍃thank you
Da hast du ein großer Meister aufgenommen, Tonmeister meistert Mister Brautigam…
4:24 Such an incredible moment
hi , plz put it Beethoven sonata no.31 on the same night by Ronald Brautigan thnx 🙏
Brautigam, siempre Brautigam.
The face masks were bouncing along with the Schubert Impromtus. An urgent performance of some of Schubert's best.
he plays no. 4 as fast as no 2. And yet no 2 is marked allegro but no 4 is marked allegretto (i.e no 4 should be slower than no. 2)
His talent would shine even more if the piano had been tuned differently.

Every tempo is too high for the instrument. It sounds like a bad modern piano.
Imagine being this arrogant
@@tmnvanderberg what is a "high" trempo? Temoos are neither high not low no matter the instrument
@@saksma22 I believe by “too high” meant too fast.
@@Renshen1957 Or he means pitch, or timbre is too thin. It is not a modern piano.
