About One Hour One Life
This game is about playing one small part in a much larger story. You only live an hour, but time and space in this game is infinite. You can only do so much in one lifetime, but the tech tree in this game will take hundreds of generations to fully explore. This game is also about family trees. Having a mother who takes care of you as a baby, and hopefully taking care of a baby yourself later in life. And your mother is another player. And your baby is another player. Building something to use in your lifetime, but inevitably realizing that, in the end, what you build is not for YOU, but for your children and all the countless others that will come after you. Proudly using your grandfather's ax, and then passing it on to your own grandchild as the end of your life nears. And looking at each life as a unique story. I was this kid born in this situation, but I eventually grew up. I built a bakery near the wheat fields. Over time, I watched my grandparents and parents grow old and die. I had some kids of my own along the way, but they are grown now... and look at my character now! She's an old woman. What a life passed by in this little hour of mine. After I die, this life will be over and gone forever. I can be born again, but I can never live this unique story again. Everything's changing. I'll be born as a different person in a different place and different time, with another unique story to experience in the next hour...

Hey!! I made that tiny village. My mom abandoned me in the north desert area as a baby, and I survived long enough to loot a corpse that had food in a backpack. I came to that area where my mom and her sister had started to settle. My mom never came back, but her loony sister stopped by a couple times to act crazy before disappearing into the woods... like some kind of demented Sasquatch. I planted all those bushes, made the kiln & oven, raised a few kids and welcomed a few wanders to stay. I think that I might be the one they buried with a headstone...

HoneyBunnyGames, I'm very good at recognizing place AND people. Just yesterday, I recognized another player by his bad jokes! lol He came back to life and we found each other for a 3rd time.

lol haha, I admit it's kind of an awkward name :)
i played in this village before, it was just started by this woman named nadia. she had a sister and she was in the woods alone, i had passed her but payed no mind. later on, i found the camp and saw she was running it. i talked to her and it turns out her mother had abandoned her and she had to survive off of the corpses that had first barely started the camp, and she developed it until an adult. she had a kid who’s name i can’t remember, but it started with a b. i wish i was a girl so i could’ve helped populate the little town, but instead i took resources from the town south. i brought the pies in the baskets, brought the wheel cart thing, and planted the wheat. it’s wonderful to see this town is still here and there are people in it. i can still see me and nadia’s grave- i asked nadia’s daughter to bury me next to her since she passed away. i am so happy i helped nadia and her daughter and once again, i’m glad the city is being improved.

They were the nicest group of people in a village I've ever seen in one of your videos. This was probably one of your most peaceful OHOL videos so far.
They were all amazing people. Honestly, finding people who treat noobs nicely in games is a 50-50 kinda thing. But it's nice that you got to be spawn with a good mother and family :)
And yeah... Where there are a lot of people, such as a city, there are prone to be meaner players. So, starting as a noob, spawning into a smaller, friendlier, yet not too unadvanced community is a not a bad thing.
Well if you want to watch the world burn, you go where more of the world is gathered. :(
I love how peaceful that was. It definitely had the perfect ending (I'm immortal!) 😂. I love how with this game you can play so many different ways. As always I loved the video (this one is my favorite) and I'm looking forward to the next one! 😁

I just started playing yesterday and everyone's been super nice to me thus far. Not sure if they know I'm a noob though, I just like to act like I know how to do things and if I don't know how to do something they ask, I'll "disappear" for awhile til they forget they asked me. Probably not the best way to progress but eh.

I really enjoyed the undercover type of video. It shows what kind of people are out there playing this game. And I would love to see more of this. Even if it includes griefers and whatnot.

I actually played for the first time (Well, second time if you count that one time that I played 2HOL) not that long ago. I spawned as an Eve and immediately started having kids and all I knew how to do was make basic stuff and collect seeds and milkweed. I had a lot of trouble playing because OHOL's Motion Blur actually makes me super dizzy, but I had 7 kids (2 who lived to be 59 and 60) really fast and I was trying to feed them all and take in whoever didn't have somewhere to stay when I starved to death because all the bushes I knew where to find were empty and I'd been so focused on caring for my kids that I couldn't find any food in time. xD That was my experience of a first proper game. I lived only to be 29, but it wasn't bad for someone who spawned as an Eve and didn't know what they were really doing, I think. More importantly, all my kids were really kind and helpful. My one son Aiden was especially good at the game, but not at all rude or annoyed with me for being new. I don't know if I'd recognise him if I met him again ingame, but I hope I get to see him again sometime. He was smart and very patient. I later went to look at my family tree, and of the two who lived to be super old, my boy Aiden said this as his last words. "Mom was newbie but nice". It's silly to think that it touched me as much as it did, but after reading that, I felt like even though I was new and made mistakes, I did a good job because I took care of all my babies before myself. Just...hopefully next time I play I won't have 7 in such a short time span so I can actually take care of myself, too. xD

Haven't got all the way through the video (need to get back to work), but to be honest I think you actually did more good in this village than you usually do in your videos. Quite frequently you explore a lot and do some random jobs, but you don't really stick around and concentrate on being helpful. Nothing wrong with that IMHO, but your noob play through forces you to ask what people want and to concentrate on only one or two things. I'm only half way through, but I think you've made a big difference -- even though you ate all the berries you planted LOL! As you always say, temperature and food bonuses make a massive difference. I wonder if parents will start teaching these things some day.
I think you did some things particularly well as a noobie. First you frequently told people you were new. A lot of people on the forums frequently ask for that so that they know how to help you. Second, as a toddler you followed the instructions of your mother. Again, a lot of people don't have time for you if you don't pay attention. Finally, you worked diligently at your tasks. So even if you are using up some extra time or resources, you are a net gain for the community. People get annoyed if you just stand around and eat berries (or worse, carrots).
I'd be interested to see an even earlier-game play (maybe second generation). It might not be fair to make someone's Eve run harder, but it would be nice to see some more strategy for setting up villages. In your channel we typically see large towns, so watching good players coordinate other players when resources are really tight would be entertaining sometimes.

“Ew, a boy”
“This is a female only colony. Kill him”
Then my mom picks me up:
“You are mistake”
She then sets me down until i starve to death

Jason should add pizzas to the game now,might as well,the game has the ingredients to do so. Doe (I can't spell), pork, beef( potentially if he adds it), eggs, cheese( needs to add) veggies, adobe oven,and add pizza cutters to the game. Its all there, he just need to add a few more items

I really enjoy your play throughs of OHOL. I’ve e played quite a few times, but still consider myself a newbie. It seems that you must always choose two of the following three: survive, contribute to the clan, or learn to craft. I’m compelled to choose the first two, and seldom have an opportunity to get better at crafting. Updates often mean that what I have learned may now be of little value. Players have almost always been very understanding when I say that I’m new. Only once have I met a player that had no time for my learning efforts. Bottom line: please keep the OHOL vids coming on a regular basis.
Yeah, playing like this and pretending to be a total noob really makes me appreciate the community more!
This is exactly how I play atm (two days - 4 lifes into playing) and I feel utterly useless and impactless. I can't wait to know more stuff all around (I always play with a tab open on the side to have the wiki available, but man it's STILL complicated hahah)
Honestly as long as you're not actively working against the town, you're being useful and are appreciated! Your actions affect stuff more than you think for sure
I think you more useful then most videos lol. It seems like you always just explore and keep your bonus going usually. I have learned alot tho. It helped when the app came out and I could finally play. People on mobile always go "hbg?" To me lmao.

You actually did a good job of acting new. I've seen people trying to pick up water with baskets and spam click empty wells and holes with bowls. the only thing you forgot to do was try to use an unfired clay bowl for water and soil! xD
this is an important thing to show. I'm still fairly new to the game and I'm happy to say I've been made to feel very welcome! Huge shoutout to my forst mother Utopia. Every so often I name my kids that in her honour. she taught me how to farm carrots for my first game and I made a whole field for the town Im was born into, I felt helpful.
you are way better than I was when I was literally new and so on... I had a mom teach me a little bit of farming one time, I don't die now, but I can only do menial tasks in established farms... I died I think it was my 1st or 2nd go with berries in my backpack I couldn't fumble out, and a carrot in my hand I managed to grab at the last second that I didn't have time to bite!! I could feel bad someone wasted some of a backpack's life on me... :) I still suck, but I know helpful it is to feed sheep, it seems like an under-done job. Don't think I can pull running a carrot farm, keeping berries alive, and feeding sheep though(you click so fast, you're a freaking wizard)... I think I did most steps of making compost one time, I should be able to do them all, but I haven't yet. AND I will definitely get lost if I go foraging.
One village in my server killed all the boys so I saved them and made sure that the bad people in the village died after I died

This gives me hope to start playing again. Started mid 2020 and had a horrible time with actually learning how to play. I learn so much from your videos. Most of the time I was just left to die or told to feed babies if I spawned in as a girl and still don’t even really know how to farm. Unluckily my PC died the end of that year and I just have my Mac so I can’t play until I get a new computer :/ but still looking forward to it!

I just played my fist character yesterday, the game was very difficult for me. I did well in the tutorial, but when I actually played, I was borne in a huge town. my mother gave me loomed clothes! I didn't understand their technology or how to be helpful to their town (i seemed only to get in the way, and all of the tings were constantly in use) so I gave my clothes to a child, and ran off naked into the woods. (i didn't want my first life to be one where I was such an ignorant burden).
Don't worry about being a burden, it's just the way things are until you get more experience. Most towns have more than enough food to sustain a bunch of people that aren't doing much to benefit the town.

First time I bought the game and was born the Mom asked if I was new. I replied "Y" .. she said "Oh cool, we have a place for newbs" -- and then took me out to the desert and left me to die. There were several bones there...

I bought the game 2 weeks ago after watching your videos, and my moms and siblings have all been very helpful. One day I hope to find you. I've played games for over 20 years and this is one of the most helpful when it comes to the players.

I think it depends on the village status. I usually teach my kids since I’m now a pro, but originally, if my town was well established I’d teach/ be taught. If it was an eve village I’d either hope they died or ran. Usually the same happened to me also as the baby.
I just started and I'm way worse than this . I'm actually learning a lot like stacking stuff and how to use wells. I could never figure out how to get water out of them so i failed miserably as a berry farmer on my first life. I kept trying to use a bucket XD

I survived to 60 in my third life (probably thanks to your videos now that I think about it). So maybe you living isn't super unusual, except that you left town. I survived by not doing that, lol.
I think the biggest causes of death are either leaving town or panicking. As long as you don't do those things you should be okay! :D

I am a new Player. Playing since 3 days and told this to the community. I got leader without wanting to be one and got bullied as a noob and people said I am a cunt. Was my first bad experience at this game because those people were very rude
They let me starve brutaly by taking food away and making fun of it. I got reborn in an other family, told my Story and got to my old Bully family with also people from an other City to kill then nearly everyone in this bully village and I learned how to kill. Lol

There's no final thing, no end goal, life is what you make of it - just like in real life.

Generally the big cities require a lot of maintenance and even if things look OK they're probably on the brink of collapse. There's always things that need to be done, but in big cities people feel safer and tend to roleplay, which is super fun but it's also bad for the long-term health of the city.

tbh i would love to teach new Players, but i can see that many moms would just kill off their babies if they dared to say theyre new...because GRIEFER ALERT or whatever...harsh world, which...is actually quite acurate to those times i guess? XD
i think the reason why ppl are nicer in small communities is because ist more important to get along and support each other
once a town has all it Needs and anyone can just Sustain themselves easally with what it provides People will stop Feeling like they absolutely Need each other

Am I the only one who,whenever they spawns as an eve,sets up a base (a fire and kiln) and then logs out for another person to use it?
Plus,I’m a somewhat new player so I don’t know what to do after a kiln and clothes
Unless you have kids that base is very likely going to be lost forever, Eves usually spawn very far away.
I think the game is friendly to newbies.

federico floro it's allright. Everybody was new once. Just communicate and ask for help and say that you are new. Most od the people will explain stuff to you. While you are baby follow instructions from your mother and don't get upset if you are abandoned, that usually means mother is starving and can't take care od the babies right now.
