I was blessed enough to hear my beautiful friend sing this yesterday before we took our Communion and hearing this touched my soul and heart! 476 days ago I was at deaths door and had a 5% chance to survive as I spend five weeks in a coma and I’m certain that I am still here because He wasn’t finished with me. I will spend all of my time here on earth in worship and constant learning about His life and His word! Thank you so much Jesus!!!!
My husband had a similar experience just recently...back in February of this year, when he suffered a cardiac arrest at home (that has a 5% survival rate. And those who do, usually have some type of cognitive issues. He survived, had quadruple bypass surgery, and no cognitive issues! Praise to the Lord, for His miracles that He did for my husband, over & over, in those 5 weeks he was in the hospital & rehab!! I am overwhelmed (in a good way! & humbled at the story He is writing!! Blessings to you!
When they come to "around the table of the king", I think of my family in heaven, my Grandparents, Great Aunties and Uncles, my miscarried sibling and miscarried cousins and my cousin who died unexpectedly on the day before his 30th birthday. I imagine them turning their heads and smiling at us, as a way of inviting us to come and sit with them. This song makes me think of that day when we will all sit together in perfect peace and love, enjoying each other's company at that happy reunion and therefore, it does pull at my heartstrings.
I love singing along with this song in my time alone with the Lord, remembering His great sacrifice for us. God bless the Gettys for the songs they have written to encourage us in our faith and walk with the Lord. We too are called to suffer for His name and we must not forget that. He never promised us a bed of roses if we would follow Him.
i thank god for sending his son jesus to die for me that when my time come to be call home to be with him i know he will meet me along with my my Grandparents, on my mom and dad side of the family and my uncle gord will be so happy to see me again thank u lord jesus for your cross
We have been featuring this hymn in our Communion Service for about two and one half years now! There is no replacing it without diminishing the meaning of the ordinance.
And yet, does anybody actually grasp it in its Fullness. This eye-opener of the Gospel? As it did to the brothers of Emmaus at the Table with the Lord? For, the Lord's Table is the God-ordained, symbolic Proclamation (1 Cor 11:26), and since it's Fulfillment also the symbolic Commemoration (Lk 22:19, 1 Cor 11:24 & 25), of the ONLY Holy, Perfect & above all LIVING Sacrifice there is for the Atonement of the sins of the world. Since the very beginning, this is the very Gospel God has been unraveling to man - both before and after the Fall. For example, note how Melchizedek, priest of God, brought the Offering of 'bread & wine' to Abraham to proclaim the same. And when Abraham failed to understand it, God Himself taught him on the regions of Moriah that: The Atonement for the sins of the world is NOT POSSIBLE by the UNHOLY, imperfect and DEAD sacrifice of a son born of the cursed seed of the Fallen Man but ONLY POSSIBLE by the HOLY, Perfect and LIVING Sacrifice of The Son of God whom God will Himself provide and who is since also rightly called, the Lamb of God! You see, this is why the Order of the Priesthood in the pattern of Melchizedek is called the Eternal Order of Priesthood, and it is exactly what the Lord reinstated on the eve of His holy Sacrifice with the infallible Promise that He would likewise Himself lead His people at His Table in His holy & eternal Kingdom. Adding that as He awaits the eternal Day, exalted and seated at the Right Hand of the Father, He will be faithfully Interceding on behalf of His people at all times. The reason, the Lord is rightly called the 'High Priest' of the Eternal Order of Priesthood. And to think, all of Israel soon ended up actually substituting the Lord's Table with their own detestable sacrifices of goats, lambs, ewes, heifers, pigeons and what not! So that, God asks of them, "...these meaningless sacrifices....Who has asked this of you?.." (Isa 1:11-13) and going on to tell them exactly what He thought of their sacrifices (Isa 66:3, Mal 1:14). Now, that was just an example of the Gospel of Salvation God continued to reiterate after the Fall. What about it's eternally requisite consistency before the Fall? The answer is in Gen 2:21-22. For, here is the first demonstration of the Gospel of God's Salvation. Because, in the most particular and exclusive manner God created the female and brought her FORTH FROM OUT OF THE MALE symbolically made it known to the man that in the same way God would send forth His Word (and why not since it was His Word He sent forth to create all things in the first place), Incarnated in His holy & eternal Flesh, and Break His Body, Shed His Blood and Himself enter the Sleep of Death briefly to BRING FORTH HIS PEOPLE FROM OUT OF THE FALLEN MANKIND. Indeed, who but God alone can do it? And, who but God alone has done it!! Ps 49:7-9, Mic 6:7.. And, yet, with the very first words the very first man spoke to his only fellowman then, he not only distorted the very Gospel, but also changed the God-ordained name he was to share with her, and thus sought the unmerited glory of his own unworthy self - Gen 2:23. The accursed legacy of Adamic lies all his accursed descendants, the fallen human race, live by to this date! Isa 43:27, Hos 6:7, Ezek 2:3, Ps 78:57, Mal 3:7, Matt 7:15-16 & 21-23, Matt 15:19 etc.
[Verse 1] Behold the Lamb who bears our sins away Slain for us and we remember The promise made that all who come in faith Find forgiveness at the cross [Chorus] So we share in this bread of life And we drink of his sacrifice As a sign of our bonds of peace Around the table of the King [Verse 2] The body of our Savior Jesus Christ, torn for you Eat and remember The wounds that healed the death that brings us life Paid the price to make us one [Chorus] So we share in this bread of life And we drink of His sacrifice As a sign of our bonds of love Around the table of the King [Verse 3] The blood that cleanses every stain of sin, shed for you Drink and remember He drained death's cup that all may enter in To receive the life of God [Chorus] So we share in this bread of life And we drink of His sacrifice As a sign of our bonds of grace Around the table of the King [Verse 4] And so with thankfulness and faith we rise To respond and to remember Our call to follow in the steps of Christ As His body here on Earth [Chorus] And we share in his suffering We proclaim Christ will come again And with joy in the feast of Heaven Around the table of the King Around the table of the King
Such a beautiful communion song and sing folks ..surely enjoyed ... I am going to try this one for a service I will lead with guitar music as backing in a couple of weeks.
We have been using this Hymn for Communion for well over a year now. An acoustic guitar, three voices and drums. It has become our congregation's established Communion Hymn and I don't see that changing.

Kinship
[Verse 1]
Behold the Lamb who bears our sins away
Slain for us and we remember
The promise made that all who come in faith
Find forgiveness at the cross
[Chorus]
So we share in this bread of life
And we drink of his sacrifice
As a sign of our bonds of peace
Around the table of the King
[Verse 2]
The body of our Savior Jesus Christ, torn for you
Eat and remember
The wounds that healed the death that brings us life
Paid the price to make us one
[Chorus]
So we share in this bread of life
And we drink of His sacrifice
As a sign of our bonds of love
Around the table of the King
[Verse 3]
The blood that cleanses every stain of sin, shed for you
Drink and remember
He drained death's cup that all may enter in
To receive the life of God
[Chorus]
So we share in this bread of life
And we drink of His sacrifice
As a sign of our bonds of grace
Around the table of the King
[Verse 4]
And so with thankfulness and faith we rise
To respond and to remember
Our call to follow in the steps of Christ
As His body here on Earth
[Chorus]
And we share in his suffering
We proclaim Christ will come again
And with joy in the feast of Heaven
Around the table of the King
Around the table of the King
