Caterpillar RD7 and Cat Belt Loader at work in Santa Margarita 2023

A very unique combination, rare to see operating. This is a 1930's RD7 pulling an operating belt loader powered by a 1930's Caterpillar gasoline power unit.
The RD7 wasn't working very hard pulling the loader!
The loader has a large disk at the left edge, raised and lowered by the wheel in front of the operator. When the disk is ground-engaged, if throws the material on the belt for lifting and loading.

Those guys from PA are the real deal! Got to finally meet Chumb Duffy, brother Leroy, the infamous Willie T., and of course everyone’s buddy Bob Burkhouse!
Those guys are notoriously bad asses on heavy equipment!!!

Darn tootin' - That is Leroy on the RD7, and Bob running the loader. They were cool as cucumbers, pro operators. Willie T. was attempting to finally wear out that D6, he did not get the job done, but he gave it a good run.

Amazing to watch. Our County had an old belt loader but it was Barber Greene I think! This old cat looks all original except for the belt!!

...And the signal device and bird rest!! Even this belt was showing its age, but it was great to see it in action.
