My dad studies bugs so I’ve kinda been raised with them. I love bugs (unless they try to bite me) so when people are afraid I used to get confused and judge really hard, I’ve learned better now. Good for you for concurring your fear and releasing it instead of k*lling it(which is would’ve done XD). Really fun vid!!
I'm not a huge begonia fan, but I love strawberry begonias! They're so cool, they have runners like strawberry plants and you can get them with pink variegation. I'm also not really a fan of begonia flowers, but strawberry begonias have a really fun little flower. Check them out!
Just found your channel and videos . Love them so much. You’re so sweet and I love how informative the videos are , I’ve learned more from you then any other . And your husband is so supportive .❤
I didn’t have any luck with begonias until I found out about self watering pots. Begonias are very thirsty. I always repot my plants as soon as I buy them.
That’s a good idea maybe I’ll put mine in self watering when I repot it! 💧Thanks for sharing your experience :) thanks for watching have a great week !!😄💜🌿✨💞
I was totally not a begonia person either but my partner loves them and keeps bringing home begonia cuttings from family, and I'm slowly becoming a convert-- they are super rewarding to grow. Also props for bravery!
Thanks for taking us along. It's always fun seeing what plants are available and where. Your fear of bugs 🐛 is real. That was very entertaining. I'm sorry you had to go through that, but you handled it well and conquered. 💪👍😁 Good job! Thanks for the video 💐 👌 looking forward to the next one ❤
You are going to love begonias! The coolest thing about them imo is that you can propagate just from a LEAF (no node necessary) and you can also propagate from the rhizome--just cut off a chunk of it and put it in wet moss or perlite (or even just soil). One tip: the leaves are super sensitive and don't like to get wet or too much sun. HOWEVER if a leaf gets damaged, if you chop a stem back it will pop out new growth. Baby begonia leaves are SO cute! Also I am terrified of earwigs, your actions were 1000% correct!
Glad you captured the earwig 👍 I once microwaved an earwig for five minutes by accident, it walked away 🤦♀️ No wonder they’ve been around for millions of years 😳 Merry Christmas 🎄🎅🇨🇦
I’m so relieved someone else admits their fear of pests. I also have an irrational fear. I saw my first mealybugs last week and have been having so much anxiety 😅
What is that red and black begonia at 23:35? I have it but since stores just have a name tag "begonia" or "begonia rex" I'm not satisfied with that accuracy. It's so beautiful with the glittery leaves. Begonias are so awesome because they grow and propagate so easily and there's huge variety in what comes to shapes and colours! I haven't bought the ones that require most humidity because I don't have ikea cabinets or humidity domes...but those look the fanciest and somehow unearthly😍 I have troubles at keeping my room humidity over 50% during winter because even that requires daily filling of humidifiers and if I'm travelling it falls below 30%😵
I absolutely love your videos! I lvow the lessons you teach us on the science oh plants. And loved watching you face your fear! I also dont like bugs so i get and im super proud!! And i love your tree!!!!!
I‘m by no means a begonia expert and it’s pretty difficult to ID the many begonia rex hybrids, but if i had to guess I would say the first red begonia was Begonia Red Kiss and the ginger chunk could be Begonia Red Bull. Pretty sure the dark one is a Begonia Black Fang or Mamba. 🤔 Damn! That gigantic Hoya Macrophylla Albomarginata is a dream for 20 Bucks … with a pot!
Can you use systemics? I always put granular systemics in my plants. I hate earwigs!! Put your plant in a ziploc baggie so he doesn’t get loose in your other plants. I have 2 begonias and they do not like to dry out at all. I have a Rex and a maculato (angel wing). I water those more often than my philodendrons. When top 1” dries out water and you have a good drainage soil. We didn’t notice your hair we were freaked out by that running bug. Ohhhwww
I’m the same way on bugs. Great in theory. Complete fear of them actually ever touching me. Worst fear? Seeing one and then losing it in my house. Kudos lol.
Hehehaha yes!!!!📐💪🌿😁💜 misting with water has been working wonders!! The little variegated ones are alive too but moved upstairs where it is warmer. Thanks for watching Petra!!💗🌿 merry Christmas to you too!! Pickle pals 🥒🥰💜
oh, I feel that bug things so much. I'm generally okay until they touch me and then I'm just done. A number of years ago, I had a cat that was batting something around in the kitchen and I bent down (in the dark) to pick it up thinking it was just something he had snagged he wasn't supposed to have...it was a June bug nearly the size of my hand. I screamed "I touched it!" over and over again for like 15 minutes, something that my partner has never let me live down.
I love begonias! I love the blooms too they have a sparkle too them ✨ I got a pink spot begonia at a plant shop and I love it also have a few different others. I definitely recommend begonia melanobullata it’s not purple but it looks so cool! It gives off goth plant for sure, and the begonia purple curl is another and it has some purple 🌱💜
The Bromeliad scenery is so pretty, all the flowers🌷 and colors... beautiful. All the Begonias 🌼 are nice. The Peperomia you selected is so cute. It looks like a donkey tail. I forgot what genes the donkey tail is, but it's cute and you can't beat that price.🌿😊🌱
Love your videos. Earwigs are called that because they do get in your ear. When I was a kid got one in my ear whist playing in my yard with our new puppy. I kept complaining of a headache and loud noises in my head. Mom took me to the doc and said yes something is in my ear poured warm oil in my ear and used a suction thingy and behold an earwig and eggs! I was about 4 and remember it like it happened yesterday. If I was you I would do another hydrogen peroxide treatment again. Just to be safe. Love your tree. My experience with begonias is humidity is important. I keep mine in a plastic container for the winter and outside in the summer. They are easy to multiply by water or leaf cutting or perlite in prop box. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas
This story is the last thing someone with a bug phobia wants to hear! She’s not going to get bugs in her ears if she doesn’t treat the plant again with peroxide. Just wanted to leave this comment in case she sees this, coming from someone who overcame a debilitating bug phobia haha
Just casually picks up a Maranta “Silver band” and puts it down. 😮Those were so hard to find!!! I wish I could find one at my local HD. I love maranta!!!
That red rex Begonia looked like a Begonia rex 'Red Robin'. With the begonias I have, I felt they became thirsty fast because they were quick to expansive root growth. I had to repot several I had for half a year into larger pots because their root systems would outgrow the pots. Mine would have bigger root systems than leaves. If you don't or unable to water that frequently, you can use self-watering planters/pots.... but it doesn't solve the expansive root growth. 😅 Happy Holidays!
I have a red begonia that sits on my shelf that attracts my attention. It’s well lit and i see it often. It lifts my mood every time. Not a fan of red either
What city are you guys shopping in? I live in LA and you have way better plants at your big box stores. I have to drive to nurseries to find anything special😢
The Black Begonia looks like a Black Fang mutant or hybrid - the leafes of your plant look like two leafes merged together to one.... I have a Black Fang myself and had no problems with it - I love the new growth coming in tiny, fluffy and dark red ~
Wait I'm so confused, did you not kill the earwig because that's too scary or because you don't believe in killing bugs? If there's any bug that's okay to kill, it's earwigs, they've been around since the dinasours and don't even add anything beneficial to the world 😂
I’m gonna go ahead and assume that will be the only time in my life I will hear the sentence “I just dripped digestive fluid on that plant”❤
😂😂😂
😂😂😂Sorry fella!
Ewwww hahaha
Who knew plant shopping could be such a wild ride 😆💜💜💜🌿✨

That red begonia glitters in the sun like Edward lol

I am envious of your home depot

The BEST repot! I love when you teach me things and I love that we got to witness you conquer your fear ❤
Thank you
I found a Florida green philodendron at my Home Depot the other day. I could not believe it. It was huge and only $30.
I'm so happy you got the peperomia!! I was screaming thru the screen BUY ITTTT ! I think peperomia are underrated. Love your videos ❤
Hahaha yay!! I’m so glad I did get it, it’s so stinkin cuteee😁💜🌿💗 thanks for watching Annie!! Have a super week!!🎉🤗

I love it when you pumped the water out of the plant.. I do that too!!!
Before the earwig shoving handfuls of soil into the pot, after the bug daintily ladling spoons of soil
Glad you captured the earwig 👍 I once microwaved an earwig for five minutes by accident, it walked away 🤦♀️ No wonder they’ve been around for millions of years 😳 Merry Christmas 🎄🎅🇨🇦
I can’t believe those euphorbia!!!! 😩😍
Oh the red shinny and the green begonia would have looked to good together!
I’m so relieved someone else admits their fear of pests. I also have an irrational fear. I saw my first mealybugs last week and have been having so much anxiety 😅
Looove it when you teach us cool stuff like H2o thing ❤love your videos
0:44 like little green grass hedgehogs 🦔
So proud of you for capturing that bug & giving us a quick science lesson! 🎉

So fun! No more bug good job conquering! I have no begonias but they are pretty 💚🌲🌲

And i love your tree!!!!!
You're so informative 👏🏽 👍🏼 thank you, friend 💜💜❣️
Your Christmas tree is beautiful and unique!! Love it!!
I’m amazed by the variety in the box stores near you even in the summer we never have this many options!
New subscriber ❤ I need new plant content in my feed and in my life, yes yes 💚🌱🎋🪴🌿🎍

Thanks for the different identifications! I have the begonia red kiss and it has been so difficult to find the correct cultivar names👍
i believe the begonia you purchased was black mamba but it's hard to say for sure
Cute cargo pants!

I Love your videos ❤
I want a buttons pepperoni like that one. They are so cute
I do the same thing whenever i see a plant that is swimming in its pot. ❤
Hey! What was that ficus plant next to the red begonia with the chunky rizome? I have one but have no idea if it’s a ruby or a beliz??!?
8:35
Oh my triangularis IS STILL ALIVE! 😂😂 Merry Christmas! 🎄and I have a pickle in my tree too!
You would hate living around me he have hundreds of earwigs all over outside. They love sneaking in the house none stop. Love the Christmas tree.

For a pink begonia I suggest a begonia Brevirimosa exototica. It’s so beautiful and pink and green 😊

Ummm never heard of this and earwigs are super prevalent where I live. How would you not feel it climbing on your neck and ear first, anyway?
Just casually picks up a Maranta “Silver band” and puts it down. 😮Those were so hard to find!!! I wish I could find one at my local HD. I love maranta!!!
LMAO!! 😂 🐞🐛🐜🦟🦟🪲🪳🕷️ But I’m just like you! Get that bug girl! ❤️
Hahaha I’m so glad you understand!! 😅😁💜 thanks so much for watching 🥰💞 have a beautiful week!🌿✨💜

i love how supportive your husband is
Begonia black mamba I believe! I have a few and they look very similar to the black begonia in your video 😁
Orange marmalade! 😂
Begonias- I tried to resist. They are very easy to propagate. There are a lot of fascinating begonias out there.
Lmao great job awesome vid ur so funny.
My stores never have those ground covers😢
The bug is a form of fishmoth/silverfish know as a fire brat
I have a red begonia that sits on my shelf that attracts my attention. It’s well lit and i see it often. It lifts my mood every time. Not a fan of red either
💚
I had a begonia rex jurrasic watermelon and I loved the way it looks!! You should check them out
Girl I am with you all the way on the bugs! I swear I felt one crawling across my forehead after watching this video…🥴
That peperomia IS super silly 😆
Love the peperomia! Maybe check out Begonia Maori Haze for a purpley begonia now that you can no longer not be a begonia person 😂
It’s a Begonia “Black Fancy” 🙂
Begonia Black Mamba, native to the state of Sabah in Malaysia on the island of Borneo
Guessing begona lightning strick.
Omg I thought I was the only weird one that went around dumping out all the flooded plants
Damn that zoom is crazy good
Put a cloche over the begonia.
Personally, I only like the cane begonias, I can’t grow the other ones
What city are you guys shopping in? I live in LA and you have way better plants at your big box stores. I have to drive to nurseries to find anything special😢
How are these plants doing?
24:17
I also constantly ask myself why don't I have three hands 😂
Peperomia Columella
This video should be titled How to get a earwig out of a peperomia you got at HD! 😂 But aren’t they good at preventing spiders mites?
😆💜 I’ve never heard that about spider mites but I will look into it, thanks!
Peperomia asperula x Peperomia dolabriformis
You crack me up with your fear of insects. Sorry...lol. I'm such a tomboy and growing up with three older brothers I couldn't show any fear.
Where are you even at? All my home depot and Lowe’s has is dead plants!
The Black Begonia looks like a Black Fang mutant or hybrid - the leafes of your plant look like two leafes merged together to one.... I have a Black Fang myself and had no problems with it - I love the new growth coming in tiny, fluffy and dark red ~
Begonia ‘Mo Reese’?
Begonia Baik X Begonia Ocellata Hybid
I'm like you scared to death of bugs no way hate them can't do it
Wait I'm so confused, did you not kill the earwig because that's too scary or because you don't believe in killing bugs? If there's any bug that's okay to kill, it's earwigs, they've been around since the dinasours and don't even add anything beneficial to the world 😂
Take the plant outside and dump the soil out
You did so much better than what I would have done. If I saw that earwig, the plant is going straight outside to probably die of neglect 😂🪰
