Will this be compatible with the Apple NVME? I've ordered M4 with base configuration and also a 2 TB replacement chip (third-party) was thinking of using the 256 gig Apple chip in that enclosure
Interesting video, pity it is not available yet on Amazon UK. A couple of points:- 1) The lock switch on the enclosure is to prevent rewriting or deletion of files, not locking the case. 2) MB Is megabytes, Mb is megabits - a big difference.
This is awesome! I am going to order 2 of them with the Crucial 2TB cards. I will be getting 2 new iPad Pros 13" when the release is done and will use them on the iPads. Even though there is 512GB on the iPad Pro I still don't want to store a lot of files on them. Thanks for this video!
It depends on the schematic and the chip the enclosure has. Many of small sized SSD enclosures do not have Trim function implemented. So the read/write speed would degrade with time. You can either check whether the enclosure has a good chip inside, or you can simply use Samsung SSDs with auto cache clearing integrated. Also a good heatsink is very important too, the better heat diffuser you have, the more time you have before the throttling.
A very interesting little external drive ~ Thanks for your comprehensive (as usual) review. I notice you have a Qwiizlab Stand (without hub) for your Mac mini M4 Pro ~ I have one too ~ Excellent aren't they! I should receive my Acasis TB501Pro Updated Version next week and will report on your other video in due course.
@@MrHtech Yes, the stands are all the same and I think they all originate from Colorii who design an extensive range of Apple accessories and who are very much approved by Apple as they use them at Apple HQ. My box has a stick-on Qwiizlab label and I expect your box has a stick-on Gewokliy label. I bought mine from Amazon. In due course I'll post something up on your stand-hub video.
How does this compare to the read/write speads of the OWC enclosure with an M4 Pro Mac Mini? I currently am debating what a better choice will be to store many of my video/music projects on and work off of, since I need the internal SSD for plugins.
You can however I’m not a fan of moving the operating system & home folder to external storage , I rather keep the system and home on the internal drive and everything else move over to external drive it’s just safer in my eyes, however that’s just my opinion 😂
If you’re recording directly from iPhone they have that new audio focus mode so it may be fine as I’ve used it in very windy scenarios and it’s surprisingly good, but then again you could use the extender cable and not have it right next to the iPhone.
It’s a shame it seems it’s not in the Amazon Uk store, I do see if you click the Sharge one in the description and select the grey version it’s on a big discount 👌🏼
Thunderbolt 4 is capable of much faster than this crap drive a zike drive with a normal nvme will get twice this speed. Why do so called experts talk rubbish
@@alanknox5568 what are you talking about ? I even say it would be better if they made these in thunderbolt 4 or 5 as they are much faster 😂 did you even watch the video 👌🏼
Your reply seems to have disappeared but thunderbolt 4 is much faster and enclosures have been available for nearly 2 years. I get 2800MB/s write and 2500MB/s read so why should anyone buy this. The only thing going for it is the small size but there are plenty of small 10Gb/s enclosure for less than £20. Thunderbolt 5 enclosures are now available which should give around the same speed as the internal disc.
@@alanknox5568 not sure why it’s disappeared , still there for me but yeh I’ve made videos on thunderbolt 4 and 5 enclosures , these I would say are good for people that want something small similar to a thumb drive without the need for an extra cable. Seems to be quite popular tbh 👌🏼

I think the chips inside Apple machines are not the standard nvme sizing so it won’t fit , at least from what I’ve seen online 😂

I think that fan is probably going to mess up your audio if you record with it since iPhones are so good at picking up all sounds around itself.

Black magic gives its results in MB/s, which is megabytes per second. Much better than megabits - 8 times faster! 😮
