  • Time blocking tips & hacks for entrepreneurs: Time blocking increases productivity allowing you to get more out of your day! Do you want more time in the day?
    You can’t make time, however you can make the time you have work in for you instead of against you. Time blocking is the best way to take control of your day instead of it, controlling you.
    Learn how to time block your schedule and completely up your productivity with these 4 time blocking tips and productivity hacks to get more done. In this video you will learn exactly how to time block your schedule and what time blocking is.
    You know it's important to create a time management plan, or daily schedule, but it can be really hard to commit to one. After all there is no way to control every aspect of your day. There are times when things just don’t go according to plan or worse, it feels like the entire world is just out to mess up your schedule.
    I challenge you to put these time blocking tips to the test over the next 7 days just to see how your productivity increases. These 4 simple time blocking tips will help you get started with time blocking the right way, and insure that you begin to build a healthy long term habit.
    Understanding these principles is critical as Time blocking is one of the most powerful approaches to plan your time. I just gave a talk on this topic- contact me if you'd like more info on how to time block effectively: • Best Time To Post To I...
    Time management strategies are often developed for those working in a 9 to 5 environment. Time blocking works with any job, business or schedule which makes it the most powerful time management system out there. If you've read The ONE Thing or follow my channel, you already know I’m a big proponent of time blocking.
    Time blocking is not something you can just start doing overnight. It really takes time to get the hang of it and the image above shows my plan for a random Wednesday earlier this month. In the video I show you one of my time blocked weeks so you know exactly how easy it can be.
    If you find that you need to start tracking your time, Toggl's time blocking app will let you dedicate a certain number of hours to just one task with its intuitive time tracking interface and integrated Pomodoro timer. Or you can go the free route and just use a simple spread sheet with a timer.
    Watch now to learn the latest time blocking tips to get your scheduling and business under control!
    ------The Aspiring Entrepreneur Journey------
    Hustle, Grind, Hard work - These are all things we as entrepreneurs claim we want to do, but what does that actually look like? As much as we don't like to admit it, scrolling through inspirational quotes on Instagram and buying the latest book or course isn't going to get us to where we want to go.
    My Channel is all about documenting the unglamourous journey of the "Hustle + Grind + Hard Work", the true essence of being an entrepreneur. I haven't made it yet. I'm just like you putting in the work to build the business I love. If you’re a hard working entrepreneur who's grinding to build the business you love, subscribe. We'll build our dreams together.

    Smart tip to just start with 1 day a week. And the buffer is SO CRUCIAL. I also teach my clients to remember to time block time to time block (LOL) every week, AND to check it every day.

    I've spent the past two days learning about time blocking and designing my calendar based on these techniques. Today is my last day of time block research and design then I will put it into effect at the weekend. I'm really excited to start it because it's giving me structure around writing my PhD thesis while allowing myself to be mindful of blocks of time I can use to develop my rest of the year goals (financial, career, study, hiking trips (!) etc.). Thank you for the motivation and tips - I feel supported in home-office now!

    I always encourage my employees to walk through the door in the morning and hit those immediate, essential tasks that need to be done every day for one hour. Then, with a dent made on the routine stuff, step away and take a 10-minute break. They review their tasks for the week, the day, and block out their remaining time around what they want to accomplish most. I find it's really effective!

    • @JasonAWhaling

      Moving it across your team is a tough one! My recommendation would be having a specified "quite time" for the entire team where members aren't expected to check email or respond to chats. That way everyone knows that they can focus on their individual tasks and not worry about missing something.

    How do you track the changes (from the planned to the actual), so you can tell over time how much better (or worse) you're getting at planning and at implementing your plans? Or, do you just keep the actual time expenditure log, rather than retaining any record of the plan?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. I think the best thing to do would be to take a screenshot of your ideal schedule you've laid out for the week day - then adjust in real time as the day/week goes on. For me I set an 'ideal' for the month/quarter and then compare it to what actually happend

    Also random tack-on to tip 3 for those who menstruate (pill doesn't count pretty sure?), maybe pick up a copy of Period Queen or just in general plan time around your hormonal cycles since it won't just be daily fluctuations it'll be about 4 different monthly states. Don't overcommit to new projects when you have heaps of energy about a couple weeks after the last cycle too cuz you'll tank out in shark week and have way more on your plate! Drip is a tracker that also tracks energy levels and doesn't share your data so maybe could help.

      Few quotes that might get you moving, "If you need inspiration to do something then do it" and "desperation creates movement and clarity" ive been researching on why we have zero motivation to do things and heres what i came up with, apparently if we are not really that desperate to do something or at least intentionally focusing on something it becomes hard for us to channel our energy in to our work. So my suggestion is to with why do you want to workout? and how badly do you actually want it? because youre the only one who can motivate yourself
      i wish that helps though

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question! The first one is of course not piling your days to the breaking point. The second is planning your down time so you know you'll have a break.... Something that I do is have a 'bi-week' every 4-6 weeks where I'll work about half my hours which allows me to recover but not take the whole week off. So I wind up working half days and that helps with getting recharged without breaking the momentum.

Jason's tips helped push me over the edge so now I use time blocking in every aspect of my life. I also like using apps like getplan.co and skedpal.com to streamline the time blocking process. Do you create a new Calender in Google to overlay on a regular appointment Calender?
    Will it transpose well to mobile Google Calendar app?

    • @JasonAWhaling
      @JasonAWhaling  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's all one calendar. My booking application (book like a boos) puts my appoints right onto my calendar. If you have Gsuite for business you can actually create appointment slots.... you want it all one so that you don't have things over lap.
      If you want to do your time blocks on a different calendar, that does work and it will transpose on the mobile application 👍

    Great video here. I definitely struggle with implementing timeblocking. @ceoentrepreneur advised me to start with just a morning block, so similar to one day a week, but even more realistic to get started, for me 🙂
