Happy birthday! On April 9, 2000, Jackie Evancho, one of the best vocal performers in history, was born. Jackie, all the best to you, continue to please millions of people around the world with your angelic voice and your beautiful appearance.
Why doesn't this video have a hundred thousand views? This is a great example of her budding talent, especially with headphones on to hear the nuances of her voice.
You can hear it in her voice that she skipped right past childhood and into greatness. She is soon to be 15 and I think she could do anything she wants. Classical, Pop or Country. I wonder where our Jackie's musical heart will be in five years?
Wow ! Her voice is so mature , she must have been singing since she was very young , probably just like Kathy Young did ! She is going places with that voice , well done young lady ! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Two years after this performance Jackie was on America's Got Talent, and right after that she released an album that went Platinum, taking over Michal Jackson's title as the youngest Platinum Selling Artist in History. Followed by Jackie and David Foster teaming up to do Jackie's first PBS Great Performances Special, Dream With Me, which became the largest fund raiser for PBS EVER. I could go on and on but if you are interested in discovering more about Jackie that is a JOY in and of itself.
For those too young to remember this was a big hit in 1960 for a then 15 year old Kathy Young (taken from the 1954 version by The Rivileers) . It's on TH-cam. If you play that Kathy Young version you'll understand how amazing this version is by Jackie at only 9 years old. She just nailed this.
This was favorite song in junior high school 9th grade I was always afraid to ask a girl to dance, when the song was played I ask a girl to dance
To have Jackie sing this song it means much more to me now.
These videos going back to when Jackie was seven show the hard work she and her parents have done - and we thank them for all this work (and for letting us participate through the videos) as she makes our lives and the world more delightful. She's a true artist who will last for the ages.

***** I listened the the original release, and then heard Jackie, you are absolutely are night, Jackie should add this to her list of songs to do. At 9 yrs old is dead on perfect pitch , sounds really great and did it without a good musical backup.

@0:25 you can hear people in the audience remarking about her voice. That is common on her videos done at this age for these smaller gatherings before getting on bigger stages with Foster or AGT.
