Sunday morning….breakfast in bed…and now with an extra cup of tea I can settle down to watch this. So enjoyable and relaxing….and then my brain starts to work with what I can do with the information!
Another wonderful video! Adding a commercially available fabric medium to acrylic paint turns them into fabric paints! And for a tint of color, using crayons (heat set) works great!
Sparkles make EVERYTHING more fun! 😂 If you ever need a very small brush, check out manicurist brushes (the ones they use for nail art) They are very inexpensive and very easy to use. Thank you for fueling our creative brains with so many fabulous ideas❣️
Congrats on the plaque!!!! I feel like as many and as much of your videos I watch, it was given off of my TH-cam watch history alone! 😆🤣 you def deserve it!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 THANK YOU!
Thank you, I did a little happy dance when I saw the title of your video. Painting and embroidery is something I wanted to experiment with. Thank you😊. Love your " been on the frame forever" S.
it was fun to hear Jonathan laughing... I started laughing too .... I paint portrait of people and pets, and I love eimbroidery so with the fabric paint, I might be able to combine the two Can"t wait to experiment. Thank you so much. Love the birds and the colors you chose and the sparkles too! (lol) Ginette from PEI
Ooh I really enjoyed that thank you, and for the lovely bird design as well, what a brilliant way of taking some of the 'heavy lifting' out of working a design by painting it instead, and then you can just enjoy adding the embroidered bits over the top, can't wait to give it a go, and sorry Jonathan, but I can't help it with the glitter either, ever since Sarah got us using spangles that was me hooked too!!.
Hi Sarah, thankyou for the bird image and thankyou for a fun video, really enjoyed watching, love adding bling to a piece, your bird is going to look gorgeous ❤
Thanks for showing us how you use these fabric paints. I've painted fabric with dyes, but not with textile paints, so it was great to learn how to use them together with embroidery. The bird design is really sweet, and I adore the sparkles! 🤩💖
This was so enjoyable Sarah, many thanks for all the "how to" info. And I have a sneaky suspicion that Jonathan doesn't mind all that lovely blingy, sparkly stuff t-o-o-o much 🫣🤭
This looks like a fun project and I absolutely love your sparkles; paint, beads, sequins and all! I am looking forward to the extra patterns and goodies on your Patreon feed. I did actually stitch onto an acrylic painting once, but it was a bit tricky. My plan was to paint a couple of donuts onto a paint canvas and stitch the sprinkles on with cotton embroidery floss. I had to pre-punch the stitch holes from the front with a needle to keep the damage to a minimum, but it came out ok. I will send you a photo, so you can check it out. I have also coloured on fabric with Derwent Inktense Pencils using Golden fabric medium. You can acheive a lovely watercolor or more intense look with these, which is also permanent after ironing, but the fabric paints look like they are easier to work with.
You are so creative Sarah❣️ I was just looking at some fabric paint I had for what, I don’t know. I was gonna give it away! I love that I’m always learning something new from you, thank you. Stencils and blocks…wow 🙏🏽🙋🏻♀️👍🏽Mia
You can add GAC but it still doesn’t have the same hand. If you use water you run the risk of it bleeding out. The water will seep beyond the area you want coloured and stain. You will have a halo when it dries.
I brought some fabric pens to try, like felt pens but for fabric and find them to be ok for the basics. I have wanted to try fabric paint and this video is really useful thank you so much ❤😊
For those who have a large supply of acrylic paints & cannot afford fabric paints; Just invest in some textile medium it will tell you the ratio to use & it works well if you want to make up your own colours & not rely on a proprietary brand palette. 💯
Thanks for another great video. And you really can't have enough sparkle and bling 😄 Have you ever tried the Dynaflow paints? I believe they're acrylics but perhaps thinner so they work much like dye on fabric without having to mix setting and other chemicals. You can paint with them in the same way as with watercolours, like doing wet on wet or on dry fabric too, much like you showed in the video. I bought some a while ago to try on linen for cross stitch, but haven't had a chance to try them. Take care, Arleen
Hi Sarah, thanks for another fantastic video, I'd love to see more on how to create backgrounds in paint. It's my birthday next week, so I may just have to treat myself to some paints! I loved the glitter paint Helen (patron)
Ohhh perfect timing! I was just wondering what my new project might be and here you are with fabric painting!! Can't wait to give it a try! Thanks as always. PS: Jonathon...there's always room for MORE glitter!!
Sarah, this looks like fun! What do you do with the needle after you've stitched through the fabric AND the paint? My guess is that you throw it away...correct?
One can never have too much sparkle! I'll be getting myself some fabric paints as well, this clearly a level up for my embroidery projects. You mentioned block printing. I carve linoleum stamps and use a brayer (roller) to ink them for prints. I've been looking for a way to print a strip of fabric with a repeating pattern to start stitching my own brodery anglaise. I need a non permanent ink that will fully wash out after embroidering, same as the pre-printed tablecloths you can buy in stores. They all have blue printing on it and it'll wash out. I'd hate to hand draw a couple meters of fabric with my patterns. Does anyone know what I could use for ink/paint for this? I love your instructions and Gingercat's shenanigans. Keep up the good work!
I’m trying to stitch on tee shirts. How can you stabilize the fabric to put it in a hoop without stretching. I tried a press on- wash away stabilizer but it’s hard to stitch through. A show about stitching on stretchy fabric would be wonderful
I didn't have time to finish it to get the video uploaded for Friday but pics of it now finished up on the community page, my Instagram account and my Facebook page 👍

I enjoyed your showing and teaching of the bird!🥰💕😂💕
Thanks for a really informative and sparkly video ❤
Another wonderful video!

Yes, a video on how to paint fabric would be great
Sparkles, sparkles and more sparkles! 😉Thanks again for another great video, Sarah.

Good tips using manicure brushes 👍

Time I took it off the frame I think!
I make liturgical stolas by painting on silk, ironing and stiching contures.etc.
Great video! Might give this a try! Thank you.
Sara, I would love to see more on this subject. Thank you for an inspiring video!
Yes please to the video on paint application techniques! I have a few paints, but, beyond the basics, I can't do much with it. 😢
Hi Sarah loved this video given me lots of new ideas please make another similar video
Hi Sara, Thanks for educating those who loves embroidery 🧵❤️and your hands are pretty 😍
I love this! thank you.

Beautiful work Sarah❤
Yes please Sarah, would love to have some more videos regarding fabric painting/embroidery. THANK YOU for this video. :)
Thanks!
Thank you Joyce!
Really interesting to hear which paints you used and which not too

He rolls his eyes alot...🤣
Sparkle paint added to my 'shopping list' 😂
Sarah, you are the sparkle in Jonathons life! 😄😄😄
I was going to say the same! 😂
Please don't put ideas into her head. 😬😆

I use inktense blocks with fabric medium to add to finished project like cloud, grass, hair, or light tinting etc..
It's amazing how many things are out there to do embroidery with. The looks great.
Would love to see a video in making backgrounds with fabric paint. I learn from seeing an artist
Hi Sarah, thankyou for the bird image and thankyou for a fun video, really enjoyed watching, love adding bling to a piece, your bird is going to look gorgeous ❤
I can’t wait to order some fabric paint and have a go!!

Thank you for this demonstration of fabric paints. Love your beautiful examples.
Wonderful video. Yes I would like to see more on this. Thank you!

Don't give it away Mia!
Love this! I will paint on my jeans and dresses and yes - a block painting tutorial would be wonderful!
Watered-down acrylic works quite well and there are some additives you can add to acrylic paints to make them suitable for textile work.
You can add GAC but it still doesn’t have the same hand. If you use water you run the risk of it bleeding out. The water will seep beyond the area you want coloured and stain. You will have a halo when it dries.
Yes Please Please a video painting fabric…..
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Noooooo!! Not MORE sparkles!! 😱

Hi from Brisbane Australia very interested many thanks
Sarah, this looks like fun! What do you do with the needle after you've stitched through the fabric AND the paint? My guess is that you throw it away...correct?
See my video all about needles, change them regularly anyway or if they are blunt, bent etc.
what color brand do you use? the gold and the blue color are just stunning 😊 so much patterns running through my head when i see those two colors 😅
The brands I used in the video are listed in the description below the video, just click on 'more'👍
One can never have too much sparkle!

Can I use textile medium with acrylic paint??
I believe that you can. I’ve painted on fabrics for years.
You can but it still isn't quite like fabric paint
Use acrylic paint? With textile? What types? TY
Iron to set paint on the fabric
Use watercolor paints too
Jacquard jar, Dylon jar- - type of paint
Brushes stiff paint brushes
Wet the fabric before you use the paint, dry and then hot iron
how about the use of conture pens?
❤
Fabric or textile fabric paint?
I am not finding the bird design
Yikes, it's not been uploaded yet, our aplogies. Sarah's not here right now but I'll make sure she gets to it when she returns on Monday.
It is now available to download.

Thank you! I can hardly wait to get busy on this
Those sequins were perfect! Would -- did -- the edges of the glittery particles cause extra wear on the thread?
Water based paint for fabric-
One niggle. Please show us the finished embroidery in this video
