Thanks so much for a very clear and straightforward video. Before this, I would have been wary of messing about with my car keys, but the method couldn't have been easier. I've changed the batteries in both my car keys and everything is now tickety-boo!
Word of caution (from own experience), when you fit in the coin battery, take care not to bend or "press down" the two metal contact pins located on the side (where the triangular looking plastic slot is). You are suppose to use the coin battery to "press against" the contact pins. Done incorrectly, you risk bending the contact pins "downwards" which may end up not contacting the battery, usual symptoms of this mishap is your will find that the immobiliser does not work, the keyless entry does not work, but the key still works if you place the key fob in the reader slot and start the car using the "emergency start" procedure.
I noticed that instructions in the manual also state that after the battery change the key needs to go into the dashboard slot to re-initialise it. I'll know today when I replace my battery 🤪 Sorry, I got this mixed up (senior moment) and the re-initialisation is only needed after car battery disconnection. Great, clear video which I checked as I changed the battery 👍
Thanks for this video; was quoted over £50 for the main dealer because they "required the code" before they could change the battery. Done in less than a minute and works perfectly.
Hi Imran, yes I think the problem is that some of the service staff who book in jobs mix up programming the immobiliser ( for which you need a code) and changing the key battery. Glad it worked out ok
@@TheCarKeyMan Thank you for the simple informative video. Just to clarify that there is no pairing or recoding required when changing the battery? Thanks
Using that key which comes out of the fob is so hard , no real purchase my girlfriend couldn’t turn it to open the door , is there any attachments for the detachable key to make it easier to use in the event of having to use it should the fob stop working ?
Hi, i have 2008 2020 model. I get key not detected on the instrument cluster. To start the engine i have to place the key against the emergency coil on the steering column. I have replaced the battery 2032. Key is able to lock and unlock car. Any ideas how to solve this issue?

Simple but reassuring to be able to follow someone who knows what they are doing
Thanks Ian :)
This is so helpful, really simple and straightforward. ...Also needed a tutorial about how to get the new battery out of the packaging 😂😉
Glad you got there in the end Anna :)
My actual key also stopped working! Why would that happen?
Amazing, thanks so much for this. I paid almost £20 to get my battery replaced. NEVER AGAIN
Eh! That is a complete ripp off. Was it at the dealer?

Great video. Any ideas on how to sync the key so the alarm doesn't go off after reconnecting battery?
Hi Martin, the key should just work, there isn't a resynch proceedure that I know of for this type of key
PERFECT information video - thank you!

Good video can it be any battery as long as it’s the same size cheers
Hi, as long as you get the correct number you'll be fine, just buy a good quality one ;)

Why did you remove the key? Seems pointless.
Hi Simon, I usually take it out when doing a video. Lots of owners don't know there's an emergency blade inside. But you're right, I didn't need to
@@TheCarKeyMan I shouldn't have started with a negative I actually used the advice in the video to replace a battery earlier today. Thanks for the tip
