MVP Probably nailed the code for producers/retailers, not having royalty contracts. In the end, MPV will get better margins than all other producers/retailers with royalty-based contracts, while the players can be fully stress free! But it requires a lot of liquidity/cash up-front. This is only possible when you got the best disc-sellers on your team. For other players it’s basically not possible because it’s to much risk for the company and the players would rather have the stress and opportunity of big royalty money.

Food for thought on the fairway for par 4s and 5s. You gave the example of Chris, Bradley and Andrew being conservative on the longer par3s as to why they fall lower on the list when par3s are included. The same logic applies for why they boost up the board when you exclude the par3s. As an example none of those guys are trying to eagle the par5s at the preserve where Calvin is most likely going for it every time. The aggressive play increases the chances of missing the fairway even though its likely people like Calvin are able to recover and still birdy.
@Brodie Regarding contracts ending as soon as season end, that would mean you would have to enter contracts talks during the season is that a distraction you want to deal with when you are still trying win in major tournaments? Seems to me that could create other issues as well but I'm not a touring Pro.
If a manufacturer is that worried about a player not committed to getting ready in the off season for the new season, that they have to make a stipulation in the contract, then I think they might want to rethink signing that player. I think if I was a manufacturer I would be looking to sign players with similar mind sets and habits. People that on their own already prepare for the new season but now with teammates of a similar mind set, they can help one another out, if they want. As a manufacturer I'd also see it as helping protect my assets long term with habits that are injury preventative

QUESTION FOR NEXT PODCAST: 2023 final round at Idlewild, on hole 16 Uli made a fantastic putt, and apparently he was on a heater that round (I wasn’t watching my udisc closely enough to know). After he nailed his putt, me and a buddy were on the walk way and gave him some knuckles congratulating him bc he’s my favorite player and I didn’t want to miss that opportunity to interact. My thinking is Uli has been doing this forever and a simple fan interaction between holes wouldn’t throw him off mentally, otherwise I wouldn’t have tried. Uli was kind and gave me knuckles. As a pro, does this bother you guys? Does that interaction between holes throw you guys off? One of the volunteers scolded us for giving Uli knuckles bc it was during a round, which I understand to a point. But being professionals, could something like that even mess with your focus? If so, I apologize, maybe it was selfish of me to take that opportunity to knuckle Uli. Probably will never get the chance to again so I took it. Am I the bad guy? Or no big deal?
The reason i don’t like the contract date range change is because if a company invests in a player and the player succeeds then the company will be rewarded by holiday sales.

So to clear up eagles TH-cam video if you have all notifications for his channel turned on you got a notification when it went public but it was private when I clicked on it 30min later. I was at work so had to wait till I went on a break to try and watch it.
I think if you're James you still have your own MVP line of discs and those discs still create a ton of hype. The Detour is already a sought after disc and there's no reason to feel threatened or hurt. Eagle is putting with Nomads most likely so it only adds to and helps James.
I feel the reason super talented people don't practice as much is because they feel they don't need to and then they develop bad habits. Kinda like adhd kids that don't need to study until they hit college and all of a sudden they have no clue what they're doing.

There are probably bizarre tweets predicting that some pro would go to some other company that would look similarly weird if they ended up being correct. Not saying Ricky's caddie didn't leak it. Just saying there were probably dozens of people saying Eagle would go to MVP. It's not as unusual that one of those predictions has a random seeming detail like "Ricky's caddie told me" when you consider that it's one of several posts imo.

Hard disagree about small sports vs big sports. Big sports can have pretty insane media, but you can shrug it off as the sport itself is essentially an unstoppable celestial body. If you come in with a hot take in a small sport, you’ll likely be much more influential abd potentially steer it in an unwanted direction. This is why people are sensitive in dg imo. High diminishing returns on hot takes.

you discussed Eagles signing with MVP and how they handled it, but you didnt compare Discmanias Gannon signing to Eagles MVP signing. Who won here? I think thats a really important question. I know Brodie doesnt like to compare disc golf manufacture company movements to professional team sports organizations but lets face it, thats how most people see it, or at least want to talk about it that way. For example, this MLB offseason well forever be wondering who made the better signing, the Dodgers with shohei ohtani or the yankees with Juan Soto?
I don't think anyone knows because we don't know the contract numbers. It's not as clear cut as a team sport because in disc golf, MVP doesn't care if Eagle wins. They care if Eagle moves discs. And as long as he makes them enough money to pay for his contract, it's a win to them. Since we don't know Gannon or Eagle's contract amounts, we'll never really know who won. It's very possible they both win here. Both probably are going to be profitable contracts and none of the disc golfers I talk to don't compare the player signings in PDGA at all like other pro sports teams.

you discussed Eagles signing with MVP and how they handled it, but you didnt compare Discmanias Gannon signing to Eagles MVP signing. Who won here? I think thats a really important question. I know Brodie doesnt like to compare disc golf manufacture company movements to professional team sports organizations but lets face it, thats how most people see it, or at least want to talk about it that way. For example, this MLB offseason well forever be wondering who made the better signing, the Dodgers with shohei ohtani or the yankees with Juan Soto?
I don't think anyone knows because we don't know the contract numbers. It's not as clear cut as a team sport because in disc golf, MVP doesn't care if Eagle wins. They care if Eagle moves discs. And as long as he makes them enough money to pay for his contract, it's a win to them. Since we don't know Gannon or Eagle's contract amounts, we'll never really know who won. It's very possible they both win here. Both probably are going to be profitable contracts and none of the disc golfers I talk to don't compare the player signings in PDGA at all like other pro sports teams.
