Bonds is the GOAT. Period. Unparalleled production. He won 7 MVPS but was definitely robbed of 2 more (he should have 9 MVPS). He was insanely clutch, and a five tool player. He was the best player in baseball for the entire 90s (led in all the major rate stats and WAR). He was also the best 2 way player of the decade alongside Griffey. His 2000s put it beyond doubt - you can't even replicate his 2004 season on Rookie mode on MLB's The Show. So saying he put up video games doesn't even do that season justice - he put up numbers an alien would put up if he were pretending to be human. Bonds is the greatest hitter of all-time and the greatest overall player of all time.

People just completely forget how good he actually was. The dude hit 45 home runs with a 370 batting average and walked 198 x. He had 45 homeruns in 373 at-bats with a 360 batting average and 232 walks. The year he hit 73 home runs he had a homerun every 6.5 at-bats. I don't give a shit about steroids I don't care what anyone says, guys who hit 40 to 50 home runs these days rarely hit better than 250 and strike out almost 200 times a year. The fact that he would get maybe one good pitch every game to hit and almost always hit a homerun on it, is insane. I miss the days of power hitters being good hitters as well. My favorite player growing up was Gary Sheffield and he consistently hit over 300 with 30 to 40 plus homeruns 100-plus RBIs he walked 80 to 100 times and usually struck out like 50 or 60 times a year. The power hitters back then we're also hitting 320 or 330 or 350. I miss those days and I would give anything to see hitters like that again even if it means pumping them full of juice

I agree that his 120 IBB 2004 is the best singular support for his greatest of all time claim. And it was much harder to stand out in the 2000s than it was in, say, 1930.

As good as 73 home run Barry was you can make a legitimate argument that he was actually BETTER before the steroids…

When Bonds can go up to bat without a helmet, without leg and arm armor, and still stand in there with a ball directed at your head and hit the way Ruth did, we have something to discuss. Bond played 500 more games than Ruth and had a lower slugging percentage. He also played in an era where not only was he juiced, but so was baseball. ( MLB likes more HR ) In addition, while the pitching today may be faster, the mound was also lowered, giving the batter a more significant advantage. In today's baseball, Ruth would be jacking 80 HRs a season. No comparison. Wonder how Bonds would do against a spitball? It was legal during Ruth's era! Ruth is the G.O.A.T.

Bonds was amazing and deserves to be in the HOF if you look at his non steroid years alone. PLUS, commissioner Bud Selig is responsible for the steroid era as MLB turned a blind eye and Selig is in the hall. That being said, Bonds is the second best baseball player ever. Babe Ruth was truly a freak of nature. He dominated like no other and built the sport because of that. You cant compare absolute numbers due to a different ball and parks. But there were years that he got more home runs than other teams. That being said, Bonds at his peak was as close to Ruth as anyone has gotten. And one thing that Ruth didn't have to deal with was a hostile media.

The fact that Barry bonds is not in the Hall of Fame is the single biggest crime in American sports history. Statistically speaking there was absolutely nobody that was close. He never failed MLB drug tests and played in an era where many now Hall of Fame players also played in before testing was even implemented. How can you crucify one player and not an entire era? Or better yet the commissioner who reigned over that era?

I've always thought the head expansion argument was a weird hill to die on. Your bone structure continues to change as you get older. Lifting weights for 22 years straight will keep your testosterone levels above the average person, which further contributes to bone structure changes and obviously muscle gain.

He would have hit a hr every other at bat no question. Saying barry bonds is the goat is stupid, because he cheated. Imagine mays with steroid, mantle with steroids, gehrig with steroids, dimaggio with steroids, cobb, shoeless, reggie jackson, thurman munson, roger maris, cap anson, etc. They would all be WAY better than bonds if they had steroids, and the list goes on. Babe Ruth actually did take steroids (he injected himself with the extract of sheep's testicles), but he made himself ill and was out of the lineup for weeks. The papers reported it as one of Ruth's 'stomach aches'. There's goes your dumb theory. Also, Bonds didn't cheat. He took PEDs to be on a level playing field with everyone else. He was the best player in the game going back to 1990. He was the still the most feared hitter in the game in 2007, his last season, at age 42 as a part-time player, when he lead the league in BB, IBB, OBP, and also finished 5th in Slugging %, but didn't qualify because of all the walks. This was a few years after they implemented PED testing. I won't even get into the quality of competition Bonds had to deal with compared to Ruth. You sound like you're trying to make a moral argument, which is pretty stupid.

The baseball hall of fame is the joke of all sports. They think it's supposed to be induction into the Clergy or the Priesthood.
    They're all wrong.
It's supposed to be filled with baseballs best players not baseballs best people of character.
How do you have a Hall of Fame for Baseball that doesn't include
    Barry Bonds
    Roger Clemens
    Pete Rose
The Hall of Fame for Baseball should have an asterisk on the building with a disclaimer:
"Before you enter please note that
arguably the 3 best Baseball players of all time are not inside"
The Baseball Writers who are responsible for this travesty are self righteous, hypocritical and self indulgent.

Michelle Allen I don’t think he’s saying they were all trash. So the players you mentioned coulda just been solid mlb players( by today’s standards) playing against AA caliber opponents. It was a lot harder to find talent back then, and some teams signed players off the streets. Also it was a white guys game, witch again lowers the pool of talent.

@JudgeBullShit no its just that back then blacks just were not good at baseball. It's gotten better but back then, no way. Back then the only sport people payed attention to was baseball. So most pro athletes at the time were baseball players. What I'm saying is that nobody at the time that played in the mlb was " bad" at baseball, everyone was somewhat good. I'm not really saying the talent pool was worse. Im saying it was more even which means it harder. Also there was less people on the rosters, managers only picked the best of the best which means you aren't facing guys who suck. Nowadays there are guys who bat below .100 all the time which means that the talent pool is uneven. It's less competitive because not everybody on the same skill level
