Thank you for showing us where the fuel filter was, for us DIY mechanics with not much experience, this was a hang up as all the other videos simply assumed we knew where it was
1. take out your fuel pump relay (#301 relay if i remember correctly) 2. take off your gas cap 3. crank up truck (will only turn over, this will de-pressure line)
Your truck looks very spacious around the filter--I had that same tool and I caught hell on my 91 F150--no space at all around the filter----I had to grind the tool down a bit---Great Vid.
great video. you can also depressurize from the fuel bar schrader. i found that it sometimes helps to actually push the filter into the quick connects to get your tool engaged, then you can pull the connector from the filter easily. it seems if you try to force the tool into the connecters without them being disengaged, it can be harder to pull apart. just my $0.02
Thank you for your video it helped save me a lot of money. You also gave me the confidence in seeing how you did it with the step by step process to do it myself. It was nice that you forewarned us about the part of the gas spraying everywhere as well. Espevially when I told the guy at the garage that I was going to do it mysrlf after he quoted me three different price points. Both me and my kids thank you so much because being a single parent on a tight budget, it is hard to figure out where the money would come from. It makes it hard to trust mechanics esprcially when they give you different rates. My kids have since talked me into saving up for a general mechanics course so I have the basic knowledge to do things myself as well as how much it should cost. Have a great day and God bless.
now we just need a video on how to relieve the fuel pressure.. from what I read the cleanest and easiest way is to disconnect the wire/clip to the inertia fuel cutoff switch, and then try to start your vehicle. Just simply trying to start the vehicle is said to release the pressure. After re-attach the clip/wire to the switch and check the button to see if its pressed down if somehow it popped up.. press it down. You should be good to go after. the other way is by hooking up a fuel pressure gauge that has a release on it, to the fuel rail valve and let it out that way. Also remove the gas tank cap.
i did this in my ford and FUCK it was hard to do. my truck had 95% stock everything, what i mean with it is that other than tires, brakes and maybe one oil cha ge every year it never had nothing done. i changed the wires spark plugs, ignition coil pack, the radiator (cracked) and thermostat housing/temp sensors , control arms, wheel bearings (top left was replaced only with a chinese one that made it vibrate) ths rest were stock the same as all parts i mentioned. i increased the mpg of it by atleast 8 mpg extra, o just did this today and it was hell to do took me an hour i kept thinking i was doing it wrong, but it was like soldered togheter due to not being removed in 17 years that fuel filter barely let gas pass thru it. once i replaced it a chunk of black chalk like paste came out of the back of it and when forcing the gas out the filter the gas came yellowish, i hope i get some extra mpg after this i doubt ill do anhthing to it anymore its almoat gotten its original average 22 mpg 17 years later.
Omg thank you. I am doing this tomorrow . My excursion cranks but won't start and I have done everything from fuses to relays ignition switch thingy lol and got it to briefly after spraying starting fluid in the carb. So not a mechanic but kinda feel like one now. Dropping tank to clear some lines hopefully that it. Question to depressurize the tank is it the valve on the engine? The one to see if fuel comes out? I pushed it and no fuel . Anyhow please let me know thanks
TIFFANY GOMEZ hopefully its not the fuel pump cause usually the car will still run with a clogged fuel filter but will be hard to start and performance will lack. good luck
This other guy made a fuel line release tool by cutting down the plastic top of a magic marker. Also, he pressed the fuel line toward the filter to release it.
+certified30 Look at your fuel filter in place on your vehicle. If it has the secondary clamps, this will be the procedure. I have a 2000 explorer with the same setup.
It depends on the fuel system, some you need to remove the fuel pump relay and wait a few hrs until the fuel safety valve coming from the fuel pump in the tank leaks the pressure back into the tank (priming pressure loss) In dual tank Ford's there are 3 fuel pumps, 2 low pressure and 1 high pressure.
No need for special tool to depressurize system. Just push in the Schrader valve at fuel rail. Looks like a tire valve stem. Just use a rag to keep fuel off everything
It’s all people need. No music or talking around. You mean business.
Thank you for your video. I wish more people would make videos like this which is straight and to the point with out any bs. Bless you brother. 🙏😎

The way you explained it and showed step-by-step is the easiest I've seen so far! I sure hope it goes that well for me
thanks guy. this is why i love you tube. guys like you taking the time to film these type things have saved me hundreds of dollars. thanks again.
Great video, right to the point, clear camera shots. Thanks for showing me how to change mine out. You saved me time and money!
This is an excellent step-by-step guide for changing out the filter. I've never done it before and needed a helpful guide. Excellent work my friend.
Great video, thanks. To anyone doing this, be sure to check the "flow" arrow on the new filter so that it's pointing in the correct direction!
Which way should it point? Forward?

thank you so much dude. out of all the videos, yours had the clearest instructions. again thanks

Thank you so much for this great camera work video, this is exactly what I was looking for. 2 thumbs up
Excellent job sir! I would have never known about the reset switch! WELL DONE, AND THANKS!

Nice camera work brother!
Thanks for the tip it really help me with my 2003 mustang

Great job. One question though, what size disconnect tool was that for your application 3/8, 5/16?
Thank you very much, I was able to successfully change my filter
Thanks for the video! Good angle and guidance!
Very Helpful. Thank you very much!

thanks for the video, but what f150 year does this apply to?

thank you, you are the best
how much fuel will come out if you dont release the pressure? I have never had to release the pressure on my old car.
Excelente video me ayudo mucho
does the arrow for the filter point towards the gas tank or the engine? thanks great video
it points forward
Be sure to orient the filter in the correct direction of fuel flow from the gas tank to the engine
To release the pressure, just open the fuel cap, thats all you have to do.
Most f150 don’t have fuel caps

Thanks for posting
Will this work for 2014 F150 is it different.
sr where I buy the device in the form of scissors to remove the filter. the link thanks
Thanks big help
Thank You well done
thank but i got a leak between the filter and full pump on 2004 ford exploer can u show me how to Repair it
Mine just doesn't wanna come off at all its definitely getting irritating
Question where is this filter located
necesito saber donde se encuentra el filtro de gasolina de una f150 2009 motor 5.4 media tonelada
No need for special tool to depressurize system. Just push in the Schrader valve at fuel rail. Looks like a tire valve stem. Just use a rag to keep fuel off everything
You can also hit the fuel cutoff button
beware that your brake line is about to rust through. I would start looking for a replacement brake line asap.
F150 2010 FX2 4.6 Fuel Filter Location?
Is there a fuel filter on a 2011 f150?
Don Fee “ all “ vehicles have fuel filters bro , just follow your fuel line under your ride 💁🏽♂️ .
@@Mrfurballs some cars don't have a fuel filter. They have fuel strainer attached to the fuel pump inside the fuel tank instead.
I noticed that brake line looked a bit rusty.
Greg Ratliff I had to just look up a brake line video too
LOOKS GOOD,BUT UR VOICE IN THE BEGGINING BOUT DEPRESSURISING SOMETHING??? I NEED TO KNOW....
Thanks
Now I don't have to pay jiffy lube to do it any more
How much does jiffy charge for that ?
Might be a better sound track if there wasn't any wind or use a foam sound filter
he did this in 6 min in reality it takes about 15 to 20 lol
get to it!!!
Fix your title. There's 10 million different model Fords out there
Thanks again good info...
