Hi Myk Yeah I got this and put it on my toolbar. MPL is a genius and this is just such a fantastic script! It's people like MPL in the Reaper community that sets Reaper apart from the others. Great video.
Probably one of the best and helpful videos from reaper that I have ever seen in reaper since 2020 including kenny's videos... #Let'sTalkAboutReaperHiddenGems
WOW< All thi s time Ive been using Cubase's build in vocal Align program, but use Reaper for pretty much all my work.. now I can fully use Reaper with this action... thank you so much
Hey there i bought some amps sim this time not try outs🤣🤣 and mater of fact I bought some from audio assault and seen you here of you trying the same amps sims after looking if someone else every try this plugins nice riffs dude
Hi Myke, This is a wonderful script and much respect to the maker of this script. However I couldn't make it work on my stacked vocals to align them correctly even if there was not so much to align, it wasn't aligning in a proper way. I tried to change settings with the advanced settings but still couldn't get something positive out from it. Maybe my vocals weren't good enough or something because I see many positive reviews so I definitely going to try it again later.
Curious, where you just trying with two or with more than that? There is a manual way to do this, of course, but in the right conditions, this can make short work of alignment. A paid product may produce better work faster, but you can always cut and slip edit, or use stretch markers. If you're not doing so already, you may consider putting the two tracks into a folder, and use the ghosted conglomerate waveform on the folder track to visually line up things. Perhaps doing this manually would make an good follow up video 🤔
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper Well i was trying to align 5 takes with it, which i normally do manually. But since it didnt work for me i continued spamming shift+w haha. And yes the paid software will maybe do the job but since im not earning any money from making music, i make my music completely with free plugins and Reaper ofc😎
I checked the documentation and it says it can work with more than two, and the topmost item will be used as the guide. I guess results.can just vary depending on how "off" the tracks are. You may also get better results by splitting the items into smaller sections to help prevent "overstretching"
If I am tracking drums, for example, and the take is terrible, I'd rather it not take up the disk space, as it is 12 tracks. I just prefer to be able to discard a pass if I feel it wasn't worth keeping.
hi i tried doing this however, when i was at the action list stage for the align part, it said this: ''mpl_Align takes.lua:1142: attempt to call a nil value (global 'ReaPack_BrowsePackages')'' and it wouldnt work. please help
a handful of things have changed since this video was made. Please check this thread and MPL should be able to assist. forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=1709618#post1709618
ok dumb question after you have aligned aligned the track do u render it or appl effects ???or do the stretch markers always stay there. and as a side note the newest version 2.2 i couldnt make work at all so i installed the 1.35 version you showed in your video
Hi Mike great vids sir. I downloaded repack and couldn't open align. As it says I've not downloaded it but I have a followed all the steps and redownloaded all repack and the script. Any advice would be much appreciate. Cheers dude great content.
Are you on our Discord server? Might be helpful to see some screenshots of any error messages you're seeing when trying to launch the script. Or post it here in text. Some things have changed with that script since the video was posted. Do you have SWS Extensions installed?
in the right conditions, it definitely can. Sometimes I prefer the results of manual editing, but after a while you'll be able to identify what this will work great on and what may require some gentle massaging
I installed the script, went to the action list and searched align. but when I double click or click Run/Close it says "Not found. You should have ReaPack installed (which I do). Right click on ReaPack package and click Install, then click Apply (which I did)." What am I doing wrong?
Are you able to join us on Discord? I'd like to see a few screenshots. The script has changed since this video and has some dependencies. The error may be giving you more details about another component that may be missing
What do you do when AlignTakes refuses to "Get Dub"? I've tried every way imaginable, but it only shows the reference and doesn't actually make any changes when I move the knob. Did an update break it?
Honestly I rarely use stretch markers as opposed to slip editing. When I do, I make sure to place what I would call boundary markers before and after the part to be stretched to prevent things outside of the boundaries from being stretched as well. Also try not to stretch anything to where it's play rate is less than 90%, above they usually still is usable, depending on the stretch algorithm used. Sometimes it's a matter of trial and error with different algorithms as one may work better than another for the material
For v2 I made optional output quality of stretch markers output. On the other side I can add special option to protect transients from stretching (it is like adding 2 additional stretch markers around new one) so the transients will not be touched at all.
I'm just now getting to try this out, but for some reason it's running into an error saying, "mpl_Align takes.lua:2221 : attempt to call a nil value (field *BR_Win32_WritePrivateProfileString*)" Anyone know what that's about? Running up to date Reaper
can you confirm which version of the script you're running? It looks like MPL has switched to a paid model and has noted that an older version should still work. He suggests installing version 1.31 and "pinning" it so it does not update. forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=188335
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper got various functions installed, have it at version 1.31, tried Align Takes again and it's still throwing the same error I was getting before. Tried refreshing my packages and restarting reaper just to be sure.
I got nothing, I'm afraid. At this point, it may be best to add a reply to that post listed above to see if MPL can better assist with that error. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Hello Mike. I've tried these but when I hit the "Run/close" key, I get the message: "mpl_Align takes.lua:2221: attempt to call a nil value (field 'BR_Win32_WritePrivateProfileString') Any clue? Thanks!
Did you install MPL's "various scripts" from Repack? I failed to mention on the video but added a note in the description, Align Takes needs that other component installed as well.
@@LetsTalkAboutReaper Thank you for your prompt response. I don't find "various scripts", I found something called "Various_functions" by MPL, installed it but didn't work.

Cheers Myk. You're a star
I whish I'd known about this one when trying to align 12 vocal tracks by hand...... Great video!
I've not tried this with more than two, more I'm curious to see if it handles multiples at once based on the guide track 🤔
The count of dub takes are unlimited (though it will take time to analyze/calculate stretch markers).
I am using reaper for a long time and never heared of this script before. Genius stuff!
