- We had a chance to speak with Marko Saaresto, the vocalist of Poets of the Fall before the Saint Petersburg gig on 22nd of February. Many thanks to the management of the band for making this happen.

Наконец-то! Это отличное, очень профессиональное и грамотно проведённое интервью! Приятно смотреть и слушать, когда с интеллигентным талантливым музыкантом беседуют люди, которые разбираются в музыке и в творчестве музыканта. ( на Ю-тьюбе много видео, где с Poets of the Fall общаются "журналисты", которые вообще не в теме ) P.S. Марко прекрасен, как всегда.

Marko is very good at avoiding answering a question directly.
Most poet types speak in kind of an abstract way, in my experience anyway.
I can't blame him. A lot of creative folks don't want to provide direct, definitive answers about their future projects because then it goes on record that that is what they are going to do, and then their fans expect them to do it. It's a way of maintaining the freedom to change their minds later. It's also a way of not ruining any surprises they have planned.

I wouldn't say that he avoids answering, but that he answers thoughtfully. Poets definitely have a pattern of introspection

Those interviewers are the most awkward once I've ever seen, even marco sensed it 😂😂
In which way are they awkward? They are doing a good job, asking very interesting questions, and show real interest. I had the impression, Marko enjoyed talking to interviewers, who know the history of music and of the band itself.
And yet they were nervous.
Not that nervous, though. And it's not a crime, they aren't native speakers, so they are not 100% comfortable in English.

But gosh, on the other hand I've noticed that in their last live performances they only pick songs which lack guitars. A little change of style is fine but an entire gig... Don't know why

How in hell does Marko sound American?
From what I heard he spent some longer time in Ireland and this way his accent got more English than Finnish ;)
You can still kinda hear the "Finnishness" in the accent. :D
