    As a swimming pool owner I’ll suggest the homeowner is likely to regret trading that big shade tree for a big money and time HOG swimming pool…

    Excellent narration and execution. Being able to plot out predictive trajectories based on simple cut strategies in such heavy wood definitely shows the finesse of a caring professional. Disaster mitigation is always appeciate, but seldom commended. And kudos to the little Husky that can. It's bite is bigger than it's bark.😊

    My dad was raised in the PNW and used a chainsaw extensively on PNW soft woods. Decades later (late ‘60s) he was using a chainsaw on a 3’ diameter OAK tree at my sisters place in Atlanta, Ga. He was continually complaining about how the chain would dull SO fast…
    It would cut beautifully for a couple minutes, then quickly dull down. He complained he spent as much time touching up the chain sharpness as he did sawing.
    That was a completely new experience for him. Hopefully the metallurgy has improved LOT since then. It was a rental saw, which may be a factor….?

    • @raykitko6328

      Had the opposite problem in WV, all my stuff cut nicely in oak, locust, poplar and then one day (5) 100’+ white pines, fortunately my chainsaw guy had chains he recommended and they worked.

    • @harambereincarnate
      @harambereincarnate 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sounds like it could have been cheap chains or also using a dremel to sharpen. Non Rpm adjustable dremels will sharpen at too high of speeds and compromise the steel tooth on the chain, creating that exact condition. Cuts great initially but not for long.

    • @cliffmorgan31
      @cliffmorgan31 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@harambereincarnate

But I've seen on a homesteading channel other saws used with poor results. How many batteries did you go through in a day’s work & Can you talk about it in future episodes? Also is the saw safe, will it lock up as it should as those fibers try to bind it up. I have a Makita XCU04 32 Volt, (takes 2 18V) and it’s very safe, batteries charge up within 30minutes.

    • @AugustHunicke

    • @SeanRhoadesChristopher
      @SeanRhoadesChristopher 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correction: charges in less than an hour for a 5AhBattery on a double charger also 36V not 32V. The 2Ah batteries are lighter and charge faster, but get used up fast too. There is a 6Ah battery & it charges in about an hour. The Makita 18V X2 LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 16″ Top Handle Chain Saw Kit (XCU09Z 2-BATT) is designed for up there in the small branches. Would love to see some honest comparisons.

      You’d want a redirect to be above a drop zone, not sure what swing you were referring to but guessing it wasn’t a problem and actually placed the piece above the zone? Redirecting on the stub and then cutting the stub to allow the bundle to complete a lesser swing can be useful sometimes.

    Do you shut the saw off after each cut? Do you find it extends battery life?

    Looking at the Makita 36v Top Handle (XCU08z), as I already have 10 Makita 5Ah batteries. As a homeowner, I can’t see buying into the Husky battery system, even though I’m a Husqvarna guy, I’m also a Makita guy, and I just want one battery system. How is the weight on that thing?

      I have that makita saw and it is a workhorse. It may not be as strong as the husky (have no way to directly compare) but I would think it is very close...

      I’ve used both. Husqvarna is on top.

      Get as large a AH battery as you can. It will last longer and have more torque.
