- This event took place on January 19, 2025. It was co-sponsored by the International Manifesto Group, Critical Theory Workshop, International Action Center, The Palestine Chronicle, and Friends of Socialist China.
Here is the original description:
Given that the US is usually the prime instigator of our world’s conflicts, and given that Trump sometimes spoke on the campaign trail about ending at least some of them, we ask what prospects the incoming Trump administration offers for peace. Will Trump’s second term be more or less aggressive than his first? Will he honour his campaign promise to end the war in Ukraine? Will he double down on his enthusiastic support for Israeli genocide? Will he escalate the New Cold War on China or attempt another ‘deal’? Will opportunities for peace in Korea and Iran be seized or squandered? What to make of Trump’s bellicose rhetoric in relation to Central America? How will the new administration affect humanity’s trajectory towards peace and multipolarity? Join us to explore all these questions and more.
Thanks!
Thank you for this important and informative discussion. I would urge you to please use TH-cam's editing feature to mute or cut the two zoombombing segments at around 1:50:00. Not only are they very unpleasant, they are potentially dangerous to those using headphones and because of these segments I cannot in good conscience share this video with anyone.
found the liberal!
You could also just share it and mention it to the people you share it with. Not that hard now is it?
This was great! Thank you ❤
Amazing
It is incredible pannel
Amazing information
Love it
Agree with your idea.
GREAT contributions, all, to the understanding of antiimperialism importance!! Thank you 👋👋👋🌈🌹✊✊! Iam a peruvian marxist aged 77 and have more than 50 years as a militant or activist starting with Allene in Chile, ousted by mthrfckr Kissinger as now does tehe empire in Venezuela. I regret nationañist armies have not been commented as was Velasco in Peru 1968/75, Peron 1946/55, or the chavistas since 2002 and tha faied Otto Reich CIA coup by Bush jr, continued ba Trump’s failed 2019 coup and Biden’s recent intention with empire servants as Leopoldo Lopez,
😊 sorry about the technical hitches ☺
❤️🔥 ❤️🔥 ❤️🔥
Excellant information
Exzellent! Sarah was very clear. I agree with her. Thank you very much
thank you all so much for this enlightening panel. i feel that you've provided us with a centering protective shield against the foolishness to come in the immediate days ahead. solidarity!!
❤
Thank you for the informative talks.😊
What Gabriel Rockhill presented here was so fundamental in helping me understand why Americans appear to be so out of touch with reality when the rest of the world especially those of us in the developing world can clearly see how much oppression they're living under yet they're not able to do something about it. Liberal democracy politically manages the educated class while fascism manages the working people and in this way, nothing changes 😢😢
Keep UP the good work
We have to be very thankful to all the speakers who have shed more light on the challenges the whole world is facing today. The interesting thing is that everybody has given us the hope that at the end of the day imperialist machinations are going to be surely overcome and defeated by the peace loving people of the world! Especially the contributions of the two sisters are very much illuminating and inspiring!
Excellent speakers, excellent discussion. Thank you.
what happened throughout the Westthe ideological takeover of the "left" by "social democrats" who had no substantial difference to their opponents across the aisle.
The elephant in the room
All star anti imperialist speakers. Such an important point that Jacqueline Luqman makes when she says If we had ran with MLK's and other radicals critique of anti imperialism taking centre stage we wouldn't be stuck in the imperialist two party system today.
😂
Man, Communists ALWAYS do such good analysis
Wouldn‘t be a critical theory video without some problems with zoom. It was very interesting and i look forward where the journey is going.
Her insistence upon taking a clear-cut class position vis-a-vis the class collaborationism of the labour aristocracy is very much commendable.
Well said, We People Who Are Darker Than Blue.!
America is dying.
It died when europeans got there. Now they are just reaping condequences
And we deserve it for everything we have done for decades and decades.@@vebdaklu
You were being interrupted by far-right actors. The distorted song being played is a well-known far-right 'dog whistle' accompanied by the common call to action of "Save Europe". Particularly popular in online spheres populated by the Central European cohort of the movement. For future reference.

Ignatieff is such a ghoul.
I took a while to realize these characters are real and not a spoof... Funny and mildly amusing either way!
The speaker's optimism is not persuasive. Gaza got
hammered as did Hamas. To claim this is a blue print
for the future is nonsense. Israel was able to test
new tools and tactics. You can expect them to
return with Trump's full support and continue the
campaign. What Hamas launched in October will
continue to bleed Gaza. Only if one believes that
neverending suffering is victory can the current
situation be applauded.
suffering is an inherent part of the human condition. suffering can lead to a transformation of the self. through suffering, individuals can discover their true nature and purpose. God participates in human suffering, embodying the ultimate example of love and sacrifice. suffering is not the end but a pathway to spiritual fulfillment and relationship with the divine.
Israel and the US are the biggest losers.
Nonsense. This defeatist pessimistic propaganda spouted by people like Norman Finkelstein is first of all simply wrong factually, and secondly it undermines the power of the Resistance. It’s not true - just watch The Electronic Intifada for example. Why spreading defeatism and thereby helping the enemy?
@@danieldrazenovich935 I don’t find this comment particularly helpful, but since most Palestinians are very religious it’s maybe okay…
Palestinians are eschatological optimists
Capitalism is not fascism. Free market economics is better at raising material conditions of the poor because of innovation and profit/individuals self intrest. Social intrest and community intrests fail to provide due to the tragedy of the commons.
Fascism is an us and them mentality. Capitalism profits from that mentality. The tragedy of the commons is that people still seem satisfied complaining about it. Social and community interest provision may be retained by a eulogy that 'works on the street'!
You are a damned fool. Repeating the tired old lies of capitalist propaganda. China has lifted a billion people out of poverty in recent years while a million Americans are sleeping on the city streets. Capitalism is a zero sum game. Wealth for a few and livery for many. Socialism is the only alternative. Workers of the world, unite!
No one said Capitalism is fascism. Professor Rockhill explained that fascism is a tool of capitalism.
Capitalism is worse than fascism, because the intellectuals of the owner capitalist class invented the myth of "free market economics". Adam Smith and David Ricardo and other similar philosophers or intellectuals (18th century) provided the soft power ideology for British empire to become the most powerful, the empire'borders where the sun never sets down, in Victorian period 19th century. Throughout history all the empires had secret services or agencies alongside with their imposing, shining and visible armies to help them conquering new territories or markets. The secret imperial agencies and their (respectable) "invisible hands" that regulates the "free markets" or the "theory of labour'value", are tools of empires, explained in the very weird and spiritual
/ religious way by the most important lackeys of a certain british empire, Smith and Ricardo.
Compare "free market" economic benefits in places like the US and UK to places like Guatemala and Congo.
You're not actually analyzing the world when you make a blanket statement like that - own up to its problems first, describe it as it *actually* exists, and argue from there.
and nobody is claiming that capitalism *is* fascism: it's a method of capitalist governance.
Strange that you were getting zoombombed but couldnt see who was doing it
