Because we need to know how to solve this by completing the square. Its in curriculum. You can use quadratic formula as well for factorization but in the test they will specify by saying that solve the follwing by completing the square thats why you need to know this method as well.
Because in these questions we need to have 'x' on its own. We know we write 1x as x. We can continue only if we have a 1 by x. But now that we had a 3 and a 2 by x which made it 3x & 2x.... Thats why we divided everything with what the number was by x to get x alone. In this way we got X on its own and were able to continue further. I hope it made sense.
Or maybe if you meant that why did we took the middle number and divided by 2 & squared it.... That was one of the main steps of this concept.... In order to factorise by completing the square we had to divide the middle term by 2 and square it. I hope this comment helped. ✨
Yes it does but we need to know this concept because in the test they gonna specify by saying solve the following by completing the square and there no marks would be awarded for using the quadratic formula. I totally get that its quite frustarting but trust me its even frustrating during the test when you dont know how to slove the damn question. 😩
