    This episode was adapted from a short story in Galaxy magazine from November 1950. The aliens were Piglike and the book was titled "How to Serve Man."

    Useless but fun fact that you'll only read here:
    In 1986 relative of mine worked on set of The Golden Girls S02E14 and Lloyd Bochner played Patrick Vaughn.
    I won't go into the whole story/episode...so...
    This scene had to be reshot...Blanche happened to be carrying a book when she tricked rose out of the rose meant for Patrick. Blanche then told Patrick that she bought something for him in Honor of opening night. Patrick took the book from her hand and he explained "it's a cookbook!" The audience roared! She said..."no...this rose!" Lloyd improv'd this but was to be kept..
    After nearing end of filming they were told that they most likely couldn't get legal clearance to use that simple line. They had to reshoot it.

    • @TalkHorror
      @TalkHorror  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hubris could very possibly be the answer here. The Kanamits viewed man as a dumb animal-nothing more than food-and proceeded to manipulate us with gifts. It would be like a farmer leaving a grilling cookbook in a pasture with cows. He knows there's no possible way they'd ever be able to read it. I don't think the Kanamits ever thought we'd be able to decipher the book.

      better question is why after the title did it still take so long to decipher the book? granted only one person was working on it, but still after a few pages she should have been able to send up the alarm about the book not being so nice, unless the computer was doing all the decoding and she had to wait.
