I think you're supposed to have a tool holder with a lathe and not just put the tool into the lathe

I have always been a proponent of safety, however my uncle is retired welder in the metal industry that never wore any sort of respirator for his whole career of 45 years. He smokes like a chimney and drinks like a sponge LOL. I think our new generation gets sick and dies more out of the fear porn mental state than the environmental pollution. BTW my uncle is in his early 80's and still welds from time to time as a side hustle, better die as a beast than live as a snowflake.

He might be in his 80s and living well. But how many of his friends that he worked with passed away due to health complications because of Welding?

@@derbadortheweldor8940 you mean co-workers? To be honest the side hustle he is doing is welding gates and fences with 2 of his ex co-workers that are also retired and they all worked together. The 2 guys that were working in the place where they were melting aluminum are also still alive, the 1 guy who was welding only aluminum and SS stuff still alive ( he was welding only with gas torch and filler, back then in Eastern Europe we had no mig or tig welding, just stick and gas welding) The 3 men that were working with the Lathes are still alive. The only person I heard that has passed away was the cleaning lady. Sorry dude she was definitely not exposed to radiation and pollution. I worked there for 9 months when I was in my late 18's.

3m isn’t only a paint respirator they are for hazardous work environments. 3m makes the best and filters are endless.

I'm with you. I use a 3m quick release (really cool design) with filters for all welding. I wear one all day every day and it fits under welding helmets and face shields nicely. I love this design. You can drop it down for a second to talk or drink and pop it right back on in a second.

If you use the tool holder you have you can shim the tools. To get the tool on center I use a 6 inch scale put up against your work and bring the tool in till it touches ( WITH THE SPINDLE OFF LOL) then eyeball the scale till it is straight up and down. I hope that can help you.

In my opinion the 3m quick latch respirator is hands down the best on the market. It's super comfortable because you can latch system, Filter's are available basically anywhere with a big variety of options and it's very affordable. I have a video on my channel about it.

I use the Lincoln I've never tried the others hey a few months ago I got one of those Miller monster 250 like you got there at an auction here in L.A. for $250 dollars my problem is it takes more to power it than my Lincoln 225 Ranger can put out I think maybe I'll have to get an upgrade on shop wiring

You need to clean a respirator inside and out before putting in the bag otherwise bag is contaminated

I haven't seen that Lincoln it looks like an old 3M from like back in the 90s I do like the features of the Lincoln over the Miller I use the Miller quite often pretty good respirator no black boogers as far as the median being damaged by the slag or spray or whatever it's just like an air filter for a car one of those things get compromised in your breathing in whatever

    • @greglangley4518

It does look like one of the 3m models. It's possible that 3m packages it for Lincoln.
