The crime rate is high in my Southern Colorado town because the District attorney makes excuses as to why criminals dont get their full punishment. They get pr bonds and told to be good boys n girls. The same criminals commit crimes while on these pr bonds. Drug related crimes, trespass crimes and theft crimes.

I get it! You have to reach people at all levels, as long as they're reach!! I don't know if it's just because of the image. Imagery gets an emotion, emotion gives you a feeling that gets most to react!! I think that many who are changing at this time is due to a reaction based upon an unjust/unfair reality they've experienced. I got locked up at 15 and was out on parole at 17. When I got out, I most definitely wanted to commit crimes. Much more than before I got into jail. I had dreams of becoming rich from selling drugs and wanted to live that lifestyle that I came to idolize in prison. This change in me came from being around thugs all day for years. My family had money, I was a suburban teen. It had nothing to do with my lack of resources because I had all the resources I needed.
I think your story is rare because usually suburban kids do regret after seeing the true consequences of living a thug life. Beforehand it's just an image to them. I obviously don't know you but your story sounds more related to issues of family or trauma not the lack of resources.
@melscurry89 I suppose. My story is simply an antidote. There is other evidence to suggest that poverty doesn't create crime. I think the culture of criminality is influenced by poverty, but it's more like extreme resource inequality in close proximity. Once the culture is established, it can pull people in by asethetics.

I've been a sub for a long time and I usually just watch and like I don't comment much but this time I wanted to let you know that watching your journey into this subject has been really interesting and wholesome to watch. I get it! You have to reach people at all levels, as long as they're reach!! I don't know if it's just because of the image. Imagery gets an emotion, emotion gives you a feeling that gets most to react!! I think that many who are changing at this time is due to a reaction based upon an unjust/unfair reality they've experienced. Maybe, this has awaken something within them that makes them want to know more!! (Truth) I was never really interested in politics, especially after working with politicians and seeing how ruthless some where. I remember Trump from the 1970s, 80's and 90s and the Imagery they always showed him in was with black folks!! What peeked my interest in politics again is when they said he was a racist!! Wait a minute!! I remember him hanging with Don King (Heavy weight Boxing promoter), MJ, rappers, hosting World heavy weight championships in Atlantic City, dated a black woman for many years Karan Young, received humanitarian awards with Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali, giving Rev. Jessie Jackson free office space for his organization, etc.....When that statement was made, I knew something wasn't right!! I've learned things about politics that I never would have believed is happening in this country today!! Not because of what I've been told, but because of research! What's happening is Pure evil. I truly believe that we've been sold out by others in this country who really don't care about what happens to the people in this country!! What they do care about, is that they are not the ones at the bottom of the food chain!!
I got locked up at 15 and was out on parole at 17. When I got out, I most definitely wanted to commit crimes. Much more than before I got into jail. I had dreams of becoming rich from selling drugs and wanted to live that lifestyle that I came to idolize in prison. This change in me came from being around thugs all day for years. My family had money, I was a suburban teen. It had nothing to do with my lack of resources because I had all the resources I needed.
I think your story is rare because usually suburban kids do regret after seeing the true consequences of living a thug life. Beforehand it's just an image to them. I obviously don't know you but your story sounds more related to issues of family or trauma not the lack of resources.
@melscurry89 I suppose. My story is simply an antidote. There is other evidence to suggest that poverty doesn't create crime. I think the culture of criminality is influenced by poverty, but it's more like extreme resource inequality in close proximity. Once the culture is established, it can pull people in by asethetics.
I like how you pointed out listening to both sides as that's why I get alot of information from you Van as you always tend to check out both sides & then you call it like you see it I'm sure most of your listeners do so thank you Van for keeping it old school & we all know it doesn't get more real than that
