Aileen Rosenberg same here, I’ve watched it start to finish I don’t know how many times. Such a great show. Would have added a great perspective to this video too.
The series “Deadwood” was amazing! You really need to watch it when you get some time. My husband looks so much like Wild Bill. We freaked out when we first saw a photo of him years ago. We have his framed photo in the “Man Cave”!
I hope you've got round to seeing the series, by now! I've been introduced to it this year. My parents were thinking of going to Deadwood for a holiday; but upon looking it up, thought it seemed very much a "gambling" place. That's a shame, because the Gem Steakhouse menu sounds lovely. But maybe it's just as well to avoid the Calamity Jane's Half Chicken, because that's described as "spicy", and the character was quite a flatulent lady! Boy, I'd like to share a bed with Al Swearengen!
Deadwood Movie is really good, you can get it on HBO on Computer. Thank you for the memories I have been there. They also use to do a street shooting among Cowboys there . I even rode in the parade in a covered wagon in Deadwood. We were from ?Iowa at the time.
Funny, but I stumbled onto this channel after seeing Jacob on Adam The Woo's channel & have slowly gotten hooked. Now I prefer his to Adam, especially since Adam is MIA. Keep up the good work!
Yeah, Jacob made a "thank you\goodbye" vid to Adam. As to why he left, I think he got burnt out vlogging daily for more than 5 years. Curious how long he stays out of the spotlight, though...
The HBO series is very well done and worth the time to watch. There is some questionable history, but then this sort of stuff wasn't very accurately documented in the first place at the time. The producers really did do a lot of work to get the "look and feel" of the place right, while at the same time constructing an entertaining story inside it. But it's a pretty reasonable guess at how it all went down given the minimal source materials. People complain about the coarse language, but it's not impossible that's how they really spoke - there was a sort of social conflict between it being the Victorian Age, and a far-flung mining town populated by mostly misfits who wanted to stay as far from civilization (and the law) as practical, and the series pulls this off quite well.
Great vlog. Thought I had miss your Deadwood visit. The kids got to play cards with the cowboys and then witness a gunfight in the street. Lots to see. Adams House tour. Cemetery where Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried. One of the best road trips we've taken.
I loved Deadwood, I had same issue trying to figure out which bar was which. I went during Sturgis week and they weren't going to let me in cause of the new Federal License when I went they thought it was a fake ID. I got in after another bouncer looked at the ID. Theres a lot to do in that gambling town. I went back a second time, but I really enjoy the old west history.
The town should be called, Wild Billsville. Yes, there has to be more ideal stories in that town, other than just wild Bill being shot behind the back for something he could have done.
There are very few original buildings there. The whole town burnt down and the buildings were all replaced. When they say something happened there it usually means on this site, maybe not this exact building. Still a way cool place to go.
I swung down memory lane just there the past year. Kinda surprised- maybe u did not know- that just about every tchotchkes/ T-shirt/ souviner shop has a beer tap and they sell beer
Oh im so happy you did this vlog. Deadwood was one of my most fun trips I took. The No 10 was so much fun! Did you see the bullet hole in the chair above the door?
Did you go up to Mt Moriah, (Boot Hill) where Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried? I love Deadwood, spent many happy summer vacations down in SD growing up. Its a beautiful state. Hope you enjoyed your time there but it seems as if you were rushing through things on this trip, so I think you really missed out on a lot.
Might be somewhat different from real history in regards to dramatic licensing, but you should definitely watch the tv series sometime! It's one of my very favorites, and I can't wait for the concluding film to come out sooner or later.
Oh man I've been to Deadwood so many times, I always stop by when I'm in the Black Hills. The HBO show is GREAT! Yeah, Deadwood has amazing history - gambling, brothels (which by the way I think the last one operated until the early 70s, I could be wrong), and MURDER! MURDER EVERYWHERE! well, not everywhere. Dunno if you've visited Mount Moriah, the cemetery with Hickok's, Jane's, and every other famous person known to be there's graves. Always fun to walk the main tourist area with the shops. Plus the re-enactors are always fun to watch, they have lil gun fights out in the street during the summer months.
My knowledge of Deadwood comes from Doris Day and the now-badly outdated movie Calamity Jane. It was a favorite growing up, but I winced like mad watching it a few months ago at the poor treatment of Native Americans. It was cool to see your take on things. I didn't know about the HBO series; I wonder if you can watch it even if you don't have HBO?(Netflix?)
What? That's not really how it happened. Hickok was playing poker sitting with his back to the door that he rarely ever did considering he was one of the most skilled lawman, McCall walked in and shot him the the back of the head and got out.
This acting was worse than The Room. **gets shot** **falls over but still has enough strength to stay propped up and hold onto the side of the table** **looks at audience** “Welp, Bill’s dead.”
The Carpetbagger Prime example: John Fords My Darling Clementine, a real muddled mess of a real historical event but a good, not great, movie. I believe they should not use real peoples names and the actual names of real events for such historical abominations because many Americans believe it to be factual. Come to think of it, most John Ford movies were historical fantasy.
It's awesome you visited DEADWOOD! You're awesome Jacob
I love this stuff.Especially when we get some factual history to go along with the stories that we’ve heard.Thank you
Thanks Jacob for a really interesting & entertaining video. xx
OMG! You must watch HBO Deadwood! I have watched it 10 times. Best HBO ever did.
Aileen Rosenberg same here, I’ve watched it start to finish I don’t know how many times. Such a great show. Would have added a great perspective to this video too.
Did you see the new movie that came out on HBO it was really good.
The series “Deadwood” was amazing! You really need to watch it when you get some time. My husband looks so much like Wild Bill. We freaked out when we first saw a photo of him years ago. We have his framed photo in the “Man Cave”!
Another keeper Jacob!

Fascinating!
Very cool!!!
Love the name and profile picture - Mr Bunnyface
Awesome! Carpetbagger love your channel. Thank you for your time and effort!
Id love to go to Deadwood, Wall Drugs, and Mt. Rushmore again sometime. Thanks for the video visit, Jacob.

deadwood is awesome!! went for a super horseback ride just outside of town, the coolest ride and totally worth it
Good vid Jacob. Interesting about how Wild Bill was killed
Cool video didn’t know much about Buffalo bill thanks for the history
Funny, but I stumbled onto this channel after seeing Jacob on Adam The Woo's channel & have slowly gotten hooked. Now I prefer his to Adam, especially since Adam is MIA. Keep up the good work!
I love the videos that Jacob does, I also love to go around and film/explore different stuff..... so fun! :)
Dave Berry ..exactly..why did Adam really leVe us? Does Jacob know?
Yeah, Jacob made a "thank you\goodbye" vid to Adam. As to why he left, I think he got burnt out vlogging daily for more than 5 years. Curious how long he stays out of the spotlight, though...
They'd better be selling Wild Bill Hickoktails in there or their marketing rep should be tarred and feathered.

MrJest2 totally not perfectly historically accurate, more like historical fiction, but still a GREAT show!!
Never seen the movie
I think they're playing the Oh Brother Were Art Thou soundtrack.
I remember that soundtrack
The version of "I'll Fly Away" was DEFINITELY off that soundtrack.
Good to see your video. Love from Nevada.
Hi, from Wa! :)
Love your videos!!
Great vlog. Thought I had miss your Deadwood visit. The kids got to play cards with the cowboys and then witness a gunfight in the street. Lots to see. Adams House tour. Cemetery where Wild Bill and Calamity Jane are buried. One of the best road trips we've taken.
Hey Jacob, when you get the chance to watch Deadwood, you will definitely find out about the seedier side of this town!!!! Thanks for the video!!
I loved Deadwood, I had same issue trying to figure out which bar was which. I never saw it
Very coo video

I was a bit puzzled
The shiny digital gambling machines look so out of place. The creepy heads fit in perfectly though.
There are very few original buildings there. The whole town burnt down and the buildings were all replaced. When they say something happened there it usually means on this site, maybe not this exact building. Still a way cool place to go.
Gold was discovered in deadwood in 1874 . It a great little town. We went this year .
The first time I went to deadwood was in 1987. One of the jokes was Wild Bill Died in more chairs.
YEEE-HAW!
I swung down memory lane just there the past year. Kinda surprised- maybe u did not know- that just about every tchotchkes/ T-shirt/ souviner shop has a beer tap and they sell beer
you seriously need to watch the hbo series Deadwood . one of the few series I have watched multiple times and find something new every time.
Oh im so happy you did this vlog. Deadwood was one of my most fun trips I took. The No 10 was so much fun! Did you see the bullet hole in the chair above the door?
Could you please tell us which other museum has a bar.
+Cindy Jones Buckhorn Saloon in San Antonio TX
the cleveland(oh) museum of art has a bar in it ;)
+keller70 yeah wild bill didn't know what he was talking about
Wild Bill Hickok.
Haha!! I didn't know Jacob listened to Lady Gaga.
Or his daughter listens to her, and he absorbed it through osmosis. :-)
Lol
A H YAAASSSS, GAGAAAA LOL
Can't have 2 kings on the calves
If it all burnt down, how did the chair survive?
Who is Justice ?
Jacob,I believe theyre referring to Wild Bill Hickock

I don't know...I'm starting to doubt that was really Wild Bill
You are correct. It was Mild William, his not so well know brother, they were in fact twins.
at 4:04 I think this is a piving lerson ...you know a chill rick
Grandpa and I were there
Oh man I've been to Deadwood so many times, I always stop by when I'm in the Black Hills. The HBO show is GREAT! He had the ‘dead mans hand’ A’s and 8’s.

Come to new Zealand
You will like it here

The idea of learning more about our kwn history by watching a tv show instead of whats actually shown off by the town is pretty sad.
Cute Blonde Woman sitting in front of the door 🚪.......👱
Walter Wynnchok , ummmmmmm ok? Lol
Walter Wynnchok
She was a "doll" I have to agree! 😒
judy Osborne a cutie pie...
😂
Walter Wynnchok, lol :)
you should have visited Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Its too bad you didnt show the cemetery where wild bill ans calamuty Jane were buried i loved the video though
That would have been cool!
This acting was worse than The Room.
**gets shot**
**falls over but still has enough strength to stay propped up and hold onto the side of the table**
**looks at audience** “Welp, Bill’s dead.”
Well that was a stupid hot mess
No. 10 Saloon.... Jeff Foxworthy? #wildbilllwouldbeproud
Is gambling legalized there? thats awesome.
Good video! Don't get your history from Hollywood.
+Howard Wiggins but they make it more interesting

Duuuude. How are you gonna talk Deadwood never having seen the show. Get to it
Today its a over price shit hole in the middle of no where. Stay there for 15 minutes head out fast.
Go visit the graveyard
Dude, take a history class before you attempt to do one of these videos.
It's centered around the BLACK HILLS GOLD RUSH. Little of anything about WILD BILL. That's for tourists !!!
Deadwood looks dead
The guys full of himself. Yea tired of hearing you talk
