Heard this song for the first time in 1969 when I was in 7th grade, and it was sung in a talent show by two pretty tenth grade girls. There was a divine, New York Spring breeze outside, and love, mostly puppy and unrequitable, was in the air. Every time I hear it I go back to that school auditorium, and cry. Quietly.
Kristin is amazing! She has a wonderfully beautiful voice and can sing any song worth singing. Kristin has a voice that transcends time. She can sing a song from 2014 or a song from 1850 (Hard Times). Kristin is God's gift to the world. She was born to entertain. Kristin Chenoweth is an American Treasure! Kristin and Sean Hayes perform so well together. Would have loved to seen this on Broadway. Thanks for posting.
Pretty cool. They're doing the original 1968 arrangement of the song from PROMISES, PROMISES by Jill O'Hara and Jerry Orbach, which was performed before any of the better-known hit versions that were released a year or so later.
When I first heard they'd been cast, I didn't think Sean Hayes would be able to sell it -- I admit it. But even just this one performance shows me he makes a great Chuck Baxter. Well done, both of you.
They must have really good microphones cause holy crap the her voice just glides in perfection. She has a fantastic voice but it take good equipment to capture it completely and they did it.
Thanks for the tip. I wasn't aware of Glitter & be Gay. Great Video! You were right.(See, sometimes one can find good, helpful comments on the TH-cam videos).
I don't understand your comment. Besides Austin Powers Elvis Costello didn't have anything to do with this song. He didn't write it and certainly wasn't the first to sing it. It was made for this musical back in the '60's. ???
@digikate813 Yes there was an interview earlier in the show with both Kristen and Sean about the play as well as Kristen standing up to Time magazine editorial where the writer homophobicaly wrote that gay actors shouldn't play straight characters because the audience won't believe it! A very pitiful and sad man.
He should have eaten his words after Sean won the Tony for playing Oscar Levant, a straight man. Critics like that writer should be writing dog food commercials instead of criticism. A typical homophobic jerk.
@@SymphonyBrahms wow 2 years since i wrote that i don't even remember doing it anyway thanks for your response i guess if he is gay each to their own peace 😘
deweypug i think you're missing the point of it. They're singing. She's not playing. It's from a comedy. The guitar is there more for when he picks it up. Chill out. Vocals sounded excellent.

What a beautiful memory. 🙌
How do you remember that in such detail? i cannot remember my life like that
I can dig it
Mostly puppy and unrequitable. I love it. Seriously though, these two knock this song out of the park.
Find yourself someone who looks at you the way Sean Hayes looks at Kristin Chenoweth 😍🔥
Pretty cool for a gay guy
@@jegsthewegs He's a great actor.

She's a doll, and he's a great partner for this duet.
Sean Hayes totally amazes me. I wish my life were as such where I could see him in Broadway.
Thank you Burt! You will be missed...RIP.
I wish we lived near New York City to see Sean Hayes on stage at least once a week lol
Love her , this was an awesome duet performance..❤
Such wonderful voices., Magical blending and a supernatural way of expressing this song. Thank you for letting me see and hear this.

Can’t believe I got to see this show 3 time. (Once without Kristin) and it’s still gives me chills. ❤❤❤
Good Lord, their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS. SOMEBODY HELP.
I feel like that is what you get when both find the other equally talented and wonderful. These are both lovely and lovable people.
I've heard every song in the book and this one is special. Burt you are incredible.
Watch her in Bernstein's Candide if you want to hear Kristin's beautiful Classical voice. It's great fun too.
I loved her in that... It made me want to try to learn Glitter and be Gay... But I never managed it. 🤷🏻♀️😃
Boy, she sure has an incredible range. Saw her in “Wicked” in Chicago back in the day and she was amazing.
Kristin is an unbelievable talent
What amazes me is that The View used to have entertainment value.
Wow... this is AMAZING... really touches my heart and soul
Sorry I missed this on Broadway. I've never seen Sean Hayes so docile.
He's not playing Jack anymore.
Great performance, thank you for posting.
This preformance gets me everytime..💖
I loveee Sean’s voice
OMG that smile.. sean
This is a beautiful performance!
Beautiful ❤️
This Is pure Gold & never gets old.
Both of them are totally awesome...

She's an angel
Naww, this is so sweet and Burt Bacharach is my idol!
Sean Hayes was great in this.
I thought you said love was weak, Maleficent. Now here you are singing about it.
Oh Gosh, her voice is from a pure angel indeed !!!
What a great voice and performance.
The nuance is fantastic.
Awesome performance
THIS IS FREAKING ADORABLE! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH
great content thanks
They have so much chemistry. Love them both!
And in this case it's not: JUST JACK!! XD
Duh!
Maravilloso...que hermoso
God made her for us..... love her
wow.so is he!
The best we have.
👏👏👏👏Lindo !!! Brazil.
I didn't know Sean could sing at such a low range.
He'll forever be Jack McFarland to me 🙈💛💕
Another Bacharach and David hit!!
Thanks for the tip. I wasn't aware of Glitter & be Gay. Great Video! You were right.(See, sometimes one can find good, helpful comments on the TH-cam videos).
Kristen was born for performing, she's Fantástico.
Sweeter than sugar. This works.
Yes, an anorectical Barbie.
Olive Snook, kudos who get the reference. Still sounds great.
She's kind of Dolly Parton with her quirky high pitched voice to my Australian ear.
Burt Bacharach and Hal David song, best know recording by Dionne Warwick
Elvis Costello did a very good job with Burt Bacharach also "Austin Powers", yet Dionne sang it very well.
Wow.
These days just be famous when you sing & you will get applause no matter the quality of the performance . . .
YManCyberDude well then if kristin isnt good, who is? Selena gomez??
no doubt,, Ugh.. this is horrible
@@jerrygarcia7747 It was wonderful. You have no taste in music. Go listen to Britney Spears. She's your speed.
They got applause because both of them gave great performances. And you don't know talent when you hear it.
Wow. But I bet they do fall in love
😍

Is it me or from the movie , Strange magic, they had this song and the girl singing sounds like one of the characters
Looks like Jack McFarland grew up to become a handsome guy. And Kristin is one sweet singer, a tiny powerhouse.
BY HECK IS THIS BABE HOT ,LOVE her voice too.xxx.
karen carpenter is.... cheryl crow is......future has ultimate power
She learned for the show.
Kristian is a Gift on loan from God!

@Gatsby999888 You should look at more of her stuff on youtube especially from wicked...she is sooo amazing!!

Cute
@Gatsby999888 i love Cheno. look up Glitter and Be Gay. it shows her talent and personality better
what do you get when you fall in love a guy with a pen to burst your bubble ill never fall in love again
Was there an interview prior to this????
It looks that way. I see it in my suggested list of videos on the right.
I love kristen
Wait, they broke up?!?
Sound School
Thanks Fadhel Hawramany!
I was kinda waiting for her to bust out strange magic
Listen the original of Bobbie Gentry.
That is even better then this.
But this is also good.
Oh well.
At least you will have The Principles of Ingsoc to fall back on.
Oh My Gosh what does she have Stuck up her Nose.. She murdered this song.
exCUSE me? you've never..... how the hell have you been living?

And after this performance they both made some sweet loving in her dressing room.
That didn't happen. Sean is gay and has a husband.

sean hayes is gay, right?
sounds like someone stepping on a cat ...
lip sync
lip synched and she's not even playing the guitar...
She is actually playing. Watch carefully.
Alejandro del río How is she playing it towards the end when she isn't even holding it anymore?
Embarrassing performance

She is playing, there are two guitars there. her and the other musician who supports.
Was/ is she sick? She looks really skinny, even for her. :(
she sounds like a pomeranian
Pomeranian Dog Right?
Thanks to this guy for ruining the song with crappy wrong notes, shoulda kept it to himself
