    First of all, I love listening to you-I totally relate because I’m the same way. Not everyone understands how much we love luxury items, especially bags. I appreciate all the beautiful things the world has to offer, but I’m also mindful of my limitations- time and money.
    I’m looking forward to see how your 2025 unfolds. I’m still debating if I put myself out there.

      @ they are beyond adorable! And the designer really seems passionate about what she does, and that’s special in itself.
      Based on the world and everything else, it’s important to be conscious of how we spend our precious time and money. Nothing wrong with being thoughtful and practical. I lived in NJ for 30 years and can attest that I had the best shopping at my fingertips. Now my life has changed and I still have the incredible pieces that make me melt all these years later. And that’s what we want. Sending my best!

    Travel has always been our priority. We traveled with kids everywhere, and now that they are grown up they have been around the world and continue on their own. To entice them to travel with us now we rent a large house, so beautiful they can’t refuse 😀.
    The concept of intentional buying is so much better than “deprivation” buying. In addition to be totally in love with each item, there has to be a few of them. With each new purchase a question could be asked : “what do I not love as much as the new item?” There would always be at least one that could be moved on. In my experience it’s impossible to know that you would forever love a bag or a clothing item. Therefore some would need to go.
    Good luck on you new approach 😍

      Love your way you get your kids to travel with you! Hopefully as ours grow older, we can do something similar!

    I love the notion of setting intentions vs deprivation. Our brains don’t exactly “hear” the no anyway, so when say “no” this or “don’t” that it more creates a fixation on the subject. I am taking a similar mindful approach and have been adding things I truly love and are of a quality I feel is going to last. I don’t know about you, but as I have gotten older I almost need natural fibers or I might be a sweaty hot mess 😂 I can also make a garment of any price point LAST forever, so you won’t catch me overpaying for basics but I will pay for natural high quality materials for those basics. And I am with you on travel and the potential savings if you plan to buy when traveling. I will remember that trip way more than a random purchase. ❤

      Travel is the best and buying a special piece (at an even better price) is the cherry on top!

    I remember buying my first designer bag many years ago at Saks in Union Square, San Francisco. It was 800.00. It was a Tod's suede tote and I walked out on cloud nine. It would be nice to feel that way again.

      @nealanderson7475:
      My first was Burberry banner bag from Saks fifth avenue. It was my birthday present! I have since sold that bag.

      That’s the feeling I want to experience every time going forward. I feel like I have all the basics covered. So anything new would simply be because I love it. Cloud nine is a requirement!

    So spot on! Traveling brings me so much joy😍 Last year was definitely a travel-heavy year for me so a lot of my fun money went to that vs handbags. But I wouldn’t have it any other way! Also love traveling with my mom :) The feeling you describe about unboxing a bag when the purchases are a little more few and far and between is exactly how I want to feel too! These bags are luxuries and should feel special! Can’t wait for Paris in August :)

    I think it is fantastic that you will be buying things which bring you joy. I think I can apply this to home furnishings, outside decor and many other items.
    Even books. I spend a lot on books and I have some which I bought years ago which I haven’t read. I’m making much better use of my library card. If I read a book which I love and know I will read again, then I will buy it. I buy lots of Kindle books, but I have really special tomes which I HAVE to own in hardcover.
    Your family trips sound great! Have lots of fun.

      Thx Robin! I love physical books. I like the convenience of a kindle, but nothing compares to the feel of a hardcover book!

      The library is so underused. Some books we read really resonate with us, some are good but still wash over us. I only buy those whose story or facts stay with me now, rather than buying them all.

    Sounds like a really great approach to buying the things you want, Lisa. I would like to try adding jewelry back into my wardrobe. I stopped wearing earrings, necklaces, watches etc a few years back and I never felt the need to buy anything new. But I want to get a few nice pieces ( good quality but not necessarily really expensive) that I can wear every day. I’m excited for you.

      That sounds like a fabulous idea, Patty. As you said, the don’t have to be expensive or luxurious, they just need to make you feel special.

    The positive ‘flip the script’ is good and it works with health too. Instead of cutting things out, bring things in such as a ten minute daily walk or adding an extra vegetable/piece of fruit to the day. The more good habits are incorporated the more old habits naturally phase out. I automatically do a low buy now after doing my first around pandemic time. Two years later I had a very spendy, silly year, did the low buy again last year and it helped me stop and think and was so much easier. For those little things I see creeping up, I give them a 6-12 no buy period. This year again is no more lipsticks or perfumes and now hair products and clothing in general have joined the list. I am two luxe purchases in already though and it’s still January 😅.

      I totally agree about the adding healthy habits instead of cutting things out in regards to your diet/health. Hope you’re loving your first 2 lux purchased

    I agree we should just buy what we love. I don’t ever have a things I won’t buy list. Because I assume I will only buy things I really want. That especially goes for luxury bags. Can’t wait to see what you got in Asia. I need that charm! So cute! Confetti maybe? I don’t see the link for the Etsy shop.

    HI Lisa! I totally understand what you're saying, I can't buy lots of bags every year, I don't go into luxury store's unless I want a particular item. I love just looking, but don't because I feel guilty. So I miss the opportunity to just dream.

      I think it’s ok to go and browse. Honestly, you never know what might really pull your heartstrings. But yes, the guilt thing is definitely real.

    One easy trip is going to Bermuda on a cruise from New York in October or September because it’s not extremely hot and you can go to the beach

    I also feel guilty if I take up a sales associate’s time and do not buy a bag. I know this isn’t good and need to get over it. These are expensive items.

    • @luxuryandlifeinthemiddle
      @luxuryandlifeinthemiddle  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Exactly! But we also know they work on commission so taking their time may be taking them away from a client that is ready to buy. But I guess that’s part of the job.
