Modern sobriety isn't stuck in a church basements AA meeting, congratulations on 9 yrs of spreading the word through your surfing and living a good life!
@@FreshwaterFloof that’s loaded. lol to not have to go into a shitty job for the rest of your life that you hate? Not being able to do the things you love?
Bro, I've been watching you for years. The end of the video, about your sobriety, was the most logical and honest inspiration I've needed. You weren't too critical, but completely understood, to me. Keep shining dude.
I know you probably won't read this but I really needed your sobriety message this morning. It really gave me the motivation to stop the weed. Thank you.
Preach brother. I never would've believed it, but I've been alcohol free for several years now (never did take to drugs thankfully), and my life has gradually gotten significantly better ever since. Thanks for being open and honest about your journey, and for keep the stoke alive for all us frustrated, land-locked, full-time-working, former surfer, dreamers.
Congrats Ben. Not a surfer but you don’t need to be to love this channel. Every day you live your life fully, you truly appreciate the people and “son” around you. Wife, friends, business acquaintances (who with you are more like friends) and fans. You actively take accountability for the things in your life that didn’t go your way (traditional professional surfing) and are still friends or acquaintances with people you knew from that life. It’s clear you honestly have no jealousy or resentment towards those who did make it which is why you have such strong bonds and true friendships with those who would be considered famous in that world. It’s clear how you all feel about each other and without your honesty and obvious pride in their accomplishments that wouldn’t be possible. You are a true example that people need to see now more than ever in your day to day interactions with your friends, family and the many local surfers and surf shops in your area. You don’t just show the best on here, you share the whole journey from perfect rides to being slammed by ways. That’s both a choice and a message as each wave is a representation of the challenges everyone faces, you can try and ride them out, you get slammed often but when it goes well it’s a transcendent thing of beauty. Most importantly you never stop paddling out! What I get most besides the fun, feeling of community and some faith in humanity from your videos is hope that just because I lost all that used to matter through injuries and continuing health issues after a car accident doesn’t mean my life is over. There are a few things I have as much passion for as you have for surfing. I might be broke because of the accident and I may face many waves of pain that I need to keep surfing until I can glide instead of crashing. You have made me see that doesn’t define nor own me. The real friends are still here and, like you, I have ideas to start small that have the potential to at the very least support my everyday life needs with my own work once again. My path isn’t through a website but the medium doesn’t matter, effort does, keep “surfing” until I can successfully ride that wave does. I don’t think I’m the only person you’ve opened the eyes of to finding a path to a life that gives you peace and happiness outside of the so called traditional paths. Your site is a beacon of inspiration and hope for all who’ve hit walls or lost their way. Every claim you make is a call to stake our own. Ordered my pineapple to keep reminding me every day is another opportunity. Wishing you, Jordan, Dennis and all your families and friends a happy holiday and another year of living your dreams from another dreamer in training.
Reading this is truly a deep honor. I feel it in my heart. I really am pretty speechless to be honest with you, but I appreciate you taking the time to write this message and share this sentiment with me. Thank you and best of luck to you along your journey !
@@BenGravyy Ben thank you for reading and commenting. People like you are the inspiration and hope many of us need and your honesty about the bad as well as the good is what makes you different in an often fake on line world. I very rarely comment or post and didn’t start watching TH-cam until injury and illness limited mobility for awhile. I didn’t expect to watch surfing or to find exactly what I needed to help me see there was a way forward by doing so. I can’t imagine ever being on camera but I hope my writing can help a fraction of the lives you’ve impacted.
As always Ben, congrats on another year of sobriety. Our lives both changed around the same time in Dec 2015, mine being finding my now wife and getting out of a 6 year abusive relationship. You continue to be an inspiration to me and looking forward to sharing the water again with you soon. Thanks for the friendship over the years and keeping me motivated. Yeeew.
I've just quit smoking weed and given up cigarettes I barely drink now and that's the next to go I think even today maybe I may be able to stop completely finally! Your message there Ben really helps give me the stoke I need to do this ❤🤙😎 so much love to you and the family bro from ours here in Cornwall. Keep it up bro 🤙 yeeeew
Thank you Ben for being an inspiration to all that have been and still living with active addiction. I decided to put the bottle down three years ago and your videos are keeping me positive to keep on thinking positive!! To keep on pushing!! Not everyday is a good one but not everyday is negative like it was before!!
Congratulations on 9 years of sobriety. May God guide your path for all the years to come and continue making your dreams come true. Merry Christmas. Oh, and the best part was watching Dennis ripping up the beach and enjoying his life too.
Thanks Ben, congrats on 9 years. Will be 5 myself in March, largely inspired by you. It’s been great following along since the early days. Stoked I got my book signed by you in the UK!
19:36 is the best part of this video. @BenGravyy I love how you said this, and how sobriety is maybe not the answer for everyone. I'm on 11 years in January, and I can't even begin to explain how my life has changed for the positive. Keep inspiring us Ben, for The Dream 🤙
Thanks for all the positive vibes! Merry Christmas to all the Gravys! Thanks for reminding us all what a sober life can do for us all, but like you said, we all dont drink or use drugs yet so many of us struggle every day . Surfing and just watching your vlogs is a joy and a positive step in living the best life we can. Thank you Ben and Happy New Year!
Congrats on 9 years. I’ll have 4 next month. I felt the same, like how the hell am I gonna do this? But it’s an inside job one day at a time. I love your gratitude. It’s easy to think “I got this” but the truth is, I don’t, so I just keep working. Thanks for your inspiration
Thank you for the awesome vids ! Always entertaining. Just hit 11 years on the 30th of November . Thanks for sharing your story and keep the videos coming ! 🤙
Hey dude next year when u hit 10 you should do some voice over on every wave and give a little story recounting each year and talking about the progress.
Episode 5, more fun & humorous to watch Hawaii surf sessions filmed by the great, the one & only, Makki…excellent personal & self reflective message @ the end there Ben…also watching Denny get in his “zoomie” session to close out the vlog was great!…thanks for giving all of us, your fans, a fantastic 2024 year worth of fun & creative meaningful vlogs, dude, your a good man Ben Gravy! 🎄🤙🏼
Congrats on 9 years sober. My girlfriend and I have just started down the path of sobriety, for her health (liver issues). I have a few friends that have been completely sober for a few yrs to help encourage us. We're about to take a surf and amusement park trip to Florida with our dog Thrasher the Corgi. Next time you get down to OBX we should get him and Denis together on the beach. We live on the beach rd near a pretty good spot in KDH.
There are people who you'll never meet who are still alive because of a seed you planted when you surfed the wake of a ferry boat! Congratulations and Merry Christmas!!
Yeah ben! Congrats on your 9yr sobriety brother!🤙🏽👊🏽💪🏽 Im going on my 8th yr sober, i wanted to quit drinking so i could be the best father i can be to my children and set good examples for them, i also quit to become healthier and be around longer for them. 🤙🏽
Big 9ers! Thanks for more stoke! Maybe the last clean swell of 24' in Pensacola today! Saw a tiki band do Godzilla from Blue Oyster Cult. Epic! BTW, alcohol is messing up your cameraman. He looks rough. Maybe put a beetle on him while he's passed out would help. Obviously not a licensed therapist here!

If you have money and free time…
I doubt Ben is loaded. Just enough to keep the lifecycle going
@bobsmith8124 you get that this IS BENS JOB....his career? Pretty sure he started drunk and broke.
@bobsmith8124 money and free time for Sobriety? AA is free online 24/7/365....or at your local church basement, lol
