    I was a dyson fan but converted to a shark about 7yrs ago but this hoover came out and I had to try it. I am from a farming household and omg! I am selling my shark and keeping the gen5. Well done Dyson, you won me back.

    4 hours to charge is not half a day. I don’t understand that people say that is takes so long to charge. I have it and I am fine with 4 hours to charge after I vacuum all my house.

    Dysons are expensive because there is no competition that's even close to their cordless vacuums, not even in the same universe, so Dyson can charge ridiculous prices since they know they'll get it.

    Great timing - this is on sale at a very good Black Friday price here in Australia right now, so I’m ordering it. The buy-direct from Dyson includes all the accessories that aren’t available as a bundle in the shops here, so I’ll be buying online.

    I love the Star Wars references! So clever and funny yet seamless! The “pew pew pew” and description of the laser fluffy brush had me laughing out loud. Haha 😂 Thanks! :)
    It’s funny to me how people’s opinions are all over the map about the on/off button! 🤷‍♀️ 😄 I personally don’t care as long as it works, and isn’t a trigger. 😁
    Also, I’ve done a ridiculous amount of research, and I almost got the v15 instead of the Gen5 because of some well-meaning yet misinformed reviews. The suction is incredible! The “gates” on the front of the motorbar are perfect and made to help those who have the “too much suction” issue (certain deep carpets and thin area rugs especially). You just open up the gates part of the way or all the way, and then the overflow of suction is let out and it doesn’t have a problem. I’ve seen it demonstrated, so I’m getting a Gen5 soon and can’t wait!
    And for me, probably the most important feature is the INCREDIBLE filter! Watch Vacuum Facts review. He’s not a nice person in many things he says, but he’s so right about explaining the incredible importance of this new Gen5 filter (the blue filter will also be available for v15 on Dyson.com in a couple weeks!).
    The new filter even filters out mycotoxins and viruses!! That’s incredible!! Mold toxicity is horrendous, and I never knew how bad until it happened to me. Long story short: mycotoxins are potent neurotoxins that come off toxic mold. So when you’re vacuuming… you’re often inhaling these and other dangerous, invisible things, because the suction blows it back into the air. So it’s actually a huge problem. Trust me, I almost died from mold toxicity. You don’t want to mess with mycotoxins! Haha
    So anyway, thank you for the fun review! And I still can’t believe I’m such a Dyson fan now… I always thought the hype was crazy… but I have the V12, and it’s no hype! I just need the new filter, power, etc of the Gen5. But my v12 actually makes vacuuming fun! Haha
    So I’m still a fan of Shark, but the incredible attachments (can’t wait to get the grooming kit on Dyson.com!! My golden retriever sheds constantly! Lol) and value and no monetary upkeep is just incredible! So I’m a Dyson convert! Haha 😄

    Durable? The older versions had their plastic trigger broken after a couple of years and they charge u a lot of money to get it replaced. looks like they have removed that button but added it to the price of the previous product.

    Thank you so much for this review. I’ve been watching reviews and was seriously considering the V12 as it is lightweight. But the power and the HEPA filter of the Gen5 has me sold. I have some nice Turkish rugs made of wool/silk, so I’ll have to experiment with the lowest suction. I will also love the power button and the hidden crevice too. My current V10 takes over three hours to recharge. The Stars Wars references are wonderful.

    • @amack32
      @amack32 ปีที่แล้ว

      The color scheme is the difference between the two. The absolute model (blue and copper color) can be purchased only through Dyson. They are the same vacuum besides that.

      There the best cordless on the market. It's more powerful than my Dyson ball corded vac. They are an engineering company and invest in a lot of R&D with patents. They last for years hence the premium price

    Thanks for the video. Do you now how much the rechargeable batteries cost, I would hate to be in the middle of vacuuming and have to wait 4 hours to charge. Also is the 70 mins of run time on the lowest suction? Because usually no one uses the lowest suction. What are the runtimes for the other suction settings?

    • @blackice7408
      @blackice7408 ปีที่แล้ว

      U really don't need the higher suction modes unless ur vacuuming your driveway or something. The low suction is pretty powerful enough for general normal cleaning

    QUESTION ALL ? is the power button a game changer in the V12 and Gen5 or is the trigger fine and no issue in the V15.....thats why i am trying to rack my brain and pick between the three,,,.....2200 sq ft house total...mostly hardwood with various area rugs and one room has carpet....want something strong enough to clean car also.....thx for your review.....cheers from Canada

    • @ErinLawrenceTV
      @ErinLawrenceTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. I do find that having a power button that locks on is a huge help, particularly when cleaning larger spaces. If you have to hold the trigger the whole time, your arms get very fatigued quickly. While I have complained in previous reviews about the awkward location of the dedicated power on button, it’s still a better option than a pull to hold trigger.

    Hi Erin, Great timing! I just finished vacuuming w/ my Shark Navigator. This Dyson is cool, if a bit pricey. (But I do think I will consider a cordless vacuum when the Shark dies.)

    i just ordered this V15 detect at 799 ( canadian ) 580 ( US )....is that a good deal ? was 200 off ( regular 999 canadian ). I went to a Dyson store and tried them all and i liked the V15 , the trigger was so easy I don't think it will be an issue at all...cheers from Vulcan Canada

    Hello, I bought a vacuum cleaner online and I was disappointed; it didn't pick up dirt well. I relied on ads and presentations like yours. Please conduct more realistic tests. Any vacuum cleaner can handle scattered flakes and chips. Do more tests on carpets with crushed and ingrained dirt. Thx

    Do you think that the dyson gen 5 detect can replace an upright vacuum?

  • @kentconcept2742
    @kentconcept2742 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can I reattach the fluffy head without turning off the vacuum? I’ve noticed that the fluffy head’s green light doesn’t turn back on if I do, and I’m forced to restart the vacuum.

  • @whya2ndaccount

    Where does this fit relative to the V15? Does the "family" go V12, Gen5detect, then V15?
    We tend to find the V15 is a victim of its own efficiency. Very effective suction means lots of full dust containers per room / trips to the bin. But a bigger dust container would make it ungainly.

    • @ErinLawrenceTV
      @ErinLawrenceTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      True… It’s hard to strike a good balance. And I’m not quite sure about the naming conventions myself…

    • @myNEONCITY
      @myNEONCITY ปีที่แล้ว

      Gen5detect is the successor to the V15. New name is slightly confusing but it’s said to represent the new 5th generation Dyson digital motor inside it.
