I know some people are saying it’s repetitive but this was eat as a professional athlete more than only focus on protein. I enjoyed it! Make videos that make you happy 😊
I’m a bariatric patient who needs quality protein, but can only eat small portions. I can’t be completely plant-based, but content like this helps me incorporate more plant-based meals.
As someone who exercises a lot but still only a tiny fraction as much as Tom Brady, methinks he eats substantially more calories than this in a day. The recipes all look delicious, though. Definitely going to try that method with the broccoli, I like how it keeps the broccoli stem and makes it seem appetizing.
Wow, I have to say, I am VERY impressed! ALL 3 of those are right up my alley of easy (uncomplicated), protein perfect, and flavorful! Totally going to try those. Oh, and I too say "sir-up" and not "see-r-up". Thanks Merle! 😄
Yesssss the return of my fave series! Also a heads up, Alicia Silverstone has been having a looooot of spotlight for antivax opinions, so if she's in the thumbnail less critical thinking viewers may assume you're aligned similarly. Regardless of who is next, I'm stoked!
Great video. Definitely going to check more of his recipes out. Would have loved to see the protein content on the other two recipes (not just the smoothie)
Your pets are sooo cute 🥰. I am also not a salad person and I don’t like radishes either but I’ll try some of the other things for sure. Thanks for your videos! 🤩
I want that Broccoli dish! I'm going to make it this week. Isa Chandra Moskowitz has an amazing Romesco sauce, so I'm dying to try this one since it is so much easier to make. I can't find it yet.
Also, romesco sauce is so good it could actually be a soup :D And the addition of beans was definitely a must - otherwise it just wouldn't be a filling meal at all!
Thanks Merle for these really hearty meal ideas. I am not vegan/vegetarian since my blood pressure, energy and glucose drop whenever I try it. I'm gathering hearty meal ideas like yours to try out again and see if I can be successful at it eventually.
best of luck with it. My missus found she lacked energy until we added in some seasoned crispy tofu strips into our salads each day, she says she can really feel a difference plus it tastes great (we need it crispy though not floppy!!)😊
Just found your channel, really good. I'm trying to increase my protein intake without any extra meat. Was curious how much total protein was that whole day?
I’ve made this 2x now omitting the protein powder & using powdered peanut butter instead of almond butter and today I added beans to it, problem I’m having is both times it stopped blending and I had a tough time. I’m using a Vitamix too. I ended up adding more plant milk to help it along. Any suggestions? Yours came out perfectly
The last dish has me asking where is the pasta or bread? He’s a tall man with muscle. There’s no way to eat just broccoli with some sauce and be full for dinner.
He probably does not eat most of the recipes on his website..he probably aims to have his macro needs covered down to the gram and eats often the same things😅
I love your channel. I’m always tweaking recipes myself, however, when people are trying out other peoples recipes for a show, I really wish they’d try it as the original person does it.
I would be most likely to try the broccoli dish. It reminds me of one of my current quick and easy favorites: Broccoli dubu-muchim, which is basically blanched broccoli and tofu with seasoning. It sounds too simple, but it is DELICIOUS.
I made the chickpeas the way the recipe says (20 mins at 400f) and they are not crunchy. How do you make them (and I disagree … microwaving is not unhealthy … it simply excites water molecules which create heat)
@@raymarks7430 pat the chickpeas dry and throw them in the microwave for about 5-8 minutes. Then you can further crisp them in a pan with spices and herbs. Internet Shaquille has a great video on this: th-cam.com/video/5EU76q3Vf3Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1ZrHNXVRW2Mw-nPv
👋 MERLE, Everything you try look delicious. Oh by the way I was watching the episodes where you try Hailey Bieber smoothie. If your ever in Boca Raton, Florida you should checkout Garden Butcher. They have their owned version of Hailey Bieber smoothie but more affordable. Garden Butcher is a somewhat affordable less bougie version of Erewhon.
Merle, I virtually have never had a smoothie because I cannot eat bananas. What do you recommend I use instead? I was thinking a baked sweet potato, but that’s not very appealing to me.
These recipes are great but also a little weird in that there's no grains in the 2nd meal and not even protein in the 3rd meal, which is super weird for an athlete? Like?
I’m guessing that the protein in the third meal comes from the almonds in the romesco sauce. None of the meals contained grains. Grains are really not that good for you. If he’s eating for performance, then I get it.
@@louisar4227 Grains are perfectly fine and absolutely fantastic for you. Please stop spreading misinformation. You have zero credentials to be saying things like that. Please re-evaluate your critical thinking skills if you think saying such things is okay. Also, where are you getting this misinformation from? Some keto propaganda? You can do better.
LONG term 58 year old vegan here who is freshly OBSESSED with protein due to losing 50% of my hair (mostly from menopause and hormone issues but some may be due to my diet). I’m forcing down over 100 grams a day of vegan protein.
This does not seem like a particularly high protein diet. I mean, broccoli for dinner? I would use that as an appetizer perhaps, but not a meal. But the sauces sound good. (This isn't a knock on. your video, btw, just an observation on what TB apparently thinks is a high protein diet.)
At 1.65 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight there is no difference in strength and size. That would be .87 grams per lb of bodyweight. Protein is overrated in the diet. Carbs and fat is what fuel the athlete for competition. Protein is what helps recovery throughout the body. We have a bad view of the true body needs for athletes.
Enter those values into Cronometer or similar to get the actual breakdown. Rather base your opinions on facts. Also, as someone has already mentioned, beyond a certain threshold, a higher amount of protein has no significant impact on strength and weight loss. So, over consumption protein has not beneficial effects on health. Every plant food has protein, in varying amounts. So, eating a diversity of foods is helpful in hitting all the essential aminos.
Ciao Merle, if you like pasta, try spaghetti all'assasina, a recioe from bari in southern italy, my father was originated from this area.. many greetings to you all from brunswick in Germany and please stay safe 🙃
TB is vegan , I had no idea ( I’m from the UK) , great news , I’ve not eaten meat in 42 years , I’m 6’2 and 190 , 12% body fat , 250 push ups a day , plant based for the win.

😂😂😂 I do the same thing
LOVED that you added white beans to the romesco sauce. It’s my #1 hack for added protein.

Definitely going to try that method with the broccoli, I like how it keeps the broccoli stem and makes it seem appetizing.
I was thinking the same thing that doesn’t seem like it would be filling
Yeah, from a sports dietetics perspective this is super nutritious but seriously lacking in carbs, and by extension also in calories!
And I would think protein. It would be neat to see the total macros of this day of eating.
He definitely eats more than this in a day too. He isn;t completely vegan either. he's about 80% plant based, and still eats meat
I will definitely be trying out that romesco recipe, maybe with some farro or pasta. Thanks for sharing Merle!

All 3 looked great, especially given how little work was involved. The salad did take my number 1 spot.
So happy to see Aria in this video. Glad to see he’s still in her life

You should try microwaving the chickpeas before baking/pan frying for optimal crunchiness
