We learn Luke’s father was Anakin, who became Vader in the original trilogy. In episode 4 we learn that Obi Wan knew Luke’s father by the name Anakin Skywalker. We then learn in Empire that Vader is Luke’s father, and in Return of the Jedi Luke refers to him as Anakin when he talks to him. Palpatine being the Emperor is more of a surprise.

Believe it or not Darth Maul didn't die. He was brought back in the Clone Wars TV series and remained a formidable opponent. His showdown at the end of the final season was amazing. Even though it's animated, they brought back the original Maul actor to do the fight in motion capture. Also, the actor that did Maul's voice in this movie was Peter Serafinowicz, who has appeared in countless films and shows from John Wick 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, to Shaun of the Dead.

    • @tuttleberry
      @tuttleberry ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah, I think George L. once said that he always regretted "killing" Maul, that it was a mistake, and he ended up bringing him back, which I think was a second and bigger mistake. Maul would have had a great legacy just on the Ep 1 fight by itself. The new content Maul was brought back for could easily have had an improved version of Savage Oppress (Maul's brother) inserted in - and then just don't kill Savage (which happened - he was killed too). Yes, Maul was a great character, but bringing him back from an "abdominal separation" is too far-fetched.

38:40 Sam Jackson has said he had a lot of fun working on Star Wars. He still wants to get involved every chance he can. He liked playing someone who was 100% Good. He wasn't an anti-hero or "secretly bad" or anything.
Large portions of the fandom hate his character Mace Windu because Mace is doesn't immediately fawn over "Blond Haired, Blue-Eyed Space!Jesus" Anakin Skywalker. Many people watched the Prequels and didn't get that Anakin Skywalker was a Villain Protagonist. Still don't.
43:43 Okay, exactly what Midichlorians do is a bit fuzzy but I can try to explain it. The way George Lucas describes it, they are sort of like "moths" that surround a "luminous being" and the more of those "moths" a person has, the more Important they are to The Force. It isn't like Dragon ball Z and their Power Levels, that much is certain. Having more Midichlorians does not make you a Jedi. Anyone can be a Jedi. But being a Jedi is not for everyone. Through Self-Discipline, Meditation, Training, and Mindfulness you can divine what The Force Wants from you. In general the answer will be "be more selfless."
BTW "Too Old" in this circumstance means that he cannot fit into the "preschool instruction" that Yoda would usually handle himself. That is where his ethics and the idea that lifting a spacecraft with a thought would be taught. Jedi vary rarely adopt children after the age of 4-5. Or their equivalent with another species. Although they are part of the family, they (for one reason or another) never feel like they fit in. Anakin's problem is that he was already couldn't Let Go of his mother. She is an adult and knew entirely what she was doing when she sent him away. She uses the money Qui-Gon got for her freedom. These are things that Anakin never emotionally accepts. Also the reason he kept feeling cold was because he was already reaching out to The Dark Side to cheat on his tests.
57:30 One more thing: Vader, Tyrannis, Sidious, Plagueis, and Maul are Sith. The Sith were the losers in a Jedi "Civil War" of sorts thousands of years before this takes place. They left for parts unknown but would form Empires to some degree or another and attempt to conquer the Republic and exterminate the Jedi until about 1000 years before Episode I when they lost and lost bad. One Sith survived, Darth Bane. Bane made The Rule of Two: There can only be 2, a Master to hold Power and an Apprentice to crave it. And that is how the Sith survived in hiding for centuries. It is also how The Dark Side "kinda works." here is George Lucas to explain it: th-cam.com/video/wiImoO5QkcA/w-d-xo.html

@@ReyRey-io5bq That happens sometimes, we forget or don't connect certain dots. It would have been interesting to see his reaction when he came to the realization himself. But on the internet some people point out everything you miss or get wrong, when to me, that is part of the fun. It's what makes watching a movie for the second time so great. You put all the pieces together that you missed the first time.
Why does he need to know Anakin is Darth Vader at this very moment? It doesn't take away from the story at all. In fact, It could make the sequel trilogy better if you are unaware. If you don't know that Anakin will be a big time baddie later, it will be even easier to connect and sympathize with his character. And his fall to the dark side and switch to Darth Vader would be an actual surprise. Some people prefer chronological order over release order for this reason. He could have gotten the best of both worlds if people didn't remind him who Anakin was. It's not a huge deal, but it's still a shame.

    1. Of the prequels I like this one the best mostly for the POD race and the underwater sequences,
    2. Jar Jar is mostly comic relief since we don't have C3PO
    3. Liam Neeson was very busy with various productions at the time and was in huge demand and
agreed to do this episode because Qui-Gon Jinn dies and he won't be held to do more.
    4. How Jar Jar becomes a "general" is beyond me.
    5. It's easy to know why this one didn't start the series because of the lack of CGI back in 1977.

I love the film theory that JarJar Binx is a force-sensitive being but his "force powers" manifest in the form of clumsiness much like how Hon Solo's power of the force manifests in the form of Piloting Skills.

The siths are similar to jedis, except they use the dark side of the force, and they did have one in the previous trilogy, it was darth vader, just like the name darth maul in this movie.

I ABSOLUTELY *LOVE* how you are foing things like Dragon Ball and Star Wars, and Loki, but are you going to react to Moon Knight, and She Hulk: Attorney at Law, and What If...? ?!

I remember seeing Darth Maul for the first time in a trailer at the cinema. Just seeing that black and red demon with a double bladed lightsaber after only ever seeing single blades. Me and my boys completely lost our shit. We spent more time whispering about the trailer than watching whatever film we went to see.

57:58 - An-TI-tha-sis. basically means 'opposite.' The easy way to describe the Sith is 'evil Jedi,' but of course it's more complicated than that. While the Jedi philosophy teaches balance and equilibrium, the Sith believe that emotion and ambition are the keys to accomplishment. They tend to draw their power from the 'dark side' of the Force. Although there was a 'Sith' species long ago that followed the Dark Side, modern Sith are members of other species that adopted Sith philosophies. That is why Darth Vader can be called a 'Sith Lord' despite being human.

I love movie. It is very underrated. Im sorry people spoiled whos Anakin for you. This is the movie that introduced me to Star Wars. I remember I was going watch A New Hope with my Dad first but we ended up watching the prequels bc he hadn't watched them. So it was a big shock for me when I found out Anakin was Darth Vader.

Leo, we watch your videos to see YOUR reaction to the movies and shows we love.
It sucks that Patreon has spoiled this trilogy for you, it would be nice to see you watch the entire trilogy and come to your own conclusions without them telling you what to think.
You really weren’t supposed to find out for sure about Vader until episode 3.
Please tell your Patreon subscribers NO SPOILERS

I kinda wish they didn't tell you, it would have made a unique reaction
I wish I recorded my play through of red dead 2 because I didn't realise the family was the family/ the main character from red dead 1 the penny didn't drop until the house was finished & I was walking around the house I thought the old man look familiar & it kept bugging me I thought it was just he looked like the old guy from Toy Story 2, but I watch other peoples play through but they all remembered them

The funny thing with Natalie Portman (Padame) and Keira Knightly (her handmaiden, and decoy), their mom's couldn't recognize them either when they were in make up and on set. And if you look at side by side of them even now and days they look a lot alike.
