to be fair to the models, they work really hard for their bodies. that’s their job. and the brand wants bodies like theirs to showcase their clothes. yes all bodies are beautiful and i love the all body empowerment but i’m tired of everyone hating on the vs models for looking the way they do.
I KNOW RIGHT!? All bodies are beautiful, I can understand the work it may take into being the stereotype of a vs model. However one must wonder if there would be even more profit if there were more variety.

I personally don’t think they’re shaming the models. They’re just pointing out that every body is beautiful! Even if your body type isn’t the same as the bodies of many VS models. They’re all beautiful!
Rewatching this for the first time since it's been posted and seeing all the comments hating on the women in the video for body shaming vs models makes me Incredibly sad. I personally agree with you, they didnt body shame.
I also feel like sometimes people hate on Victoria’s Secret models instead of the company. Victoria’s Secret models are just hard-working individuals doing what they can to get paid.
I hate that there's a stigma around modelling. Sure, some VS models appear to stave themselves or may have admitted to not eating, but I know for a fact that other VS models - Adriana Lima, Lais Ribero - work incredibly hard for their bodies, along with many others in the industry. The fact that people say they are "starving themselves" and "anorexic" or have eating disorders is not only disregarding what they've worked for and body shaming them as well, but also normalizes the mental illness that /is/ eating disorders and makes it seem like it is choice. I love the confidence of the women in this video, but constantly shaming models does not work for me either. I love this video and I think the women in it are so beautiful! This comment is mainly towards some people in the comment section.
They're not trying to shame models in this video though (or at least I couldn't pick anything out but I've only watched it once). I agree with you completely, we shouldn't shame anyone for their bodies whether they're big or small as it does induce eating disorders and makes them become something that is seemingly sought after. However, I think in this video they are just trying to say that they have regular bodies - they don't need to work hard for a 'perfect' body because they aren't in the modelling industry and sometimes that can put people down. The media idolizes thin women which makes it tough for women who don't have (or can't achieve) a body like that. But that stigma of models starving themselves is due to a few years back when that really was what most models were doing and quite a few of them developed eating disorders such as bulimia nervosa. Ever since that downfall from the modelling industry people seem to have latched onto the idea that it is still happening because, after all, we usually aren't informed on anything about their bodies when we see them, we are simply shown a beautiful woman with a body that everyone aims to achieve. But, the models you listed and many others that don't need to starve for their body and have worked hard for it should be shown more and presented more as they can be seen as role models as such because they haven't fallen victim to the issue. Please don't take any of this the wrong way though, I'm agreeing with you entirely :) (Sorry for the long paragraph btw o_o)
Joxii Girls I love this video and I think the women in it are so beautiful! This comment is mainly towards some people in the comment section, and I definitely agree with everything you're saying!! I'm just tired of hearing people repeatedly say models are anorexic and starving themselves xoxo
ok ok I am sorry to burst your bubble but 'skinny people' are not taking away from that. I am skinny that is my body type. You can see every last bone on my body threw my skin. I look sick I look anorexic and I have gotten that said to my face before. I have even heard 'You need to eat more' FROM A DOCTOR when no I am not anorexic, if anything I eat more than I should and day after day I always think that I look hideous, sick, unhealthy! So no skinny people are not free from negitive stigma from people or themselves. And if I am taking this comment the wrong way please do forgive me and feel free to correct me. And with that I bid you goodbye.
The ppl who actually look like models got like no cheers but when the large woman came out the crowd ERRUPTED Edit: I mean people who don’t look like VICTORIA SECRET models, not just models in general
because large women don’t usually have that much confidence and seeing them enjoying the self on the stage and loving themselves would make their co-workers proud
Guys get over it omg Victoria's Secret models aren't regular women. And there's nothing wrong with that. They're are not regular everyday women you see on the street. They're not average. Women nonetheless but they are not regular. Hence the term "super models"
That's like saying a Ferrari is a regular car?????? Like it's a car nonetheless and a blessing just as much as a beat up old vw beetle but it's not common or something you see everyday. It's not regular lol and that's fine
Golden Girl Jay okay yeah but this comment is honestly so unnecessary lol the video is about having self confidence no matter what you look like not about shitting on VS models
Alejandra Garcia I fully understand and support the point of the video being a curvier woman myself. You're missing my point. People are taking the "regular" part of the title way out of context. In no way does my comment bash any body size it addresses the realism of what "regular" means; common abundant normal ( the literal meaning of normal) and attempts to remove the stigma the word comes with. It's plain and simple that vs models aren't normal. They aren't a vast majority of what women look like. They aren't common. Making them not regular. AND THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT WORD. People see the term not regular and take in derogatory offense when literally speaking it is correct. THAT BEING SAID, not being regular doesn't make vs models any less of a woman to someone who is a average regular everyday woman. They are still strong and valued the same as every other woman but they aren't the standard everyday woman. They aren't regular . And that's perfectly fine being different isn't bad people take it that way and they shouldn't
Alejandra Garcia thank you! these women are going out on that stage and parading what their mama gave em and thats a whole lotta sexy so hating on them won't do anything
Models are normal people but their body type can be hard to get and keep with. Models are seen as perfect and they are saying that every body type is perfect.
That Thing You See At The Corner Of Your Eye it's not saying models aren't real women, their job is to fit into societys standards which makes them different from everyday people
I'm getting sick of these comments. I don't like when buzzfeed pushes their BS agenda but stop spewing nonsense. They didn't say they weren't real women...
She is wonderful! I never would have guessed it, too. But it is inspirational that she was so brave to mention this in the video. It´s amazing to see her walk down that runway. In fact, all of them did great and were amazing
I'm all for people empowering themselves with over confidence but to be fair, modeling is a job/career for some women and they work hard on their bodies to look good on the runway. Just because certain women are overweight and comfortable with it doesn't mean they should qualify to be replaced by skinny women in a job where it's required to be skinny. I get you're trying to make a point but it's a little reach for this one.
spacejamgardenz it shouldn't be a requirement to be skinny for a job. it makes curvier girls feel like aliens and like they aren't good enough. we should be able to accept any body type for any job.
It's true, keeping your body up to those standards under contract takes WORK. the workout montages during the fashion show aren't there just to be cute. These women train like athletes for their job! Plus there's also runway classes and modeling school to go to. There's a certain way to walk, they have to learn 3 quarter turns to make sure the press get's their shot for as long as they can etc. You can tell experienced models from people just putting on a show for fun by their posture, how low their chin is, if they do a three point turn, and if they turn back on the end before exiting. Some shoots will go on 12 hours a day and they'll want you to do crazy shots in SUPER high platformed heels. I had one shot that took maybe 10 minutes to get and they wanted me to SQUAT in the heels with my legs at 90 degree angles while keeping my spine straight. A lot of the summer photoshoots happen in the winter so they have time to edit them in the spring and rent space for them. So think about those bikini/swimwear ads where people are jumping off cliffs into water, or having waves come up on them. That water is most likely freezing! Not as easy or glamorous as people think.
Rebecca, for a normal job, people should not be required to look a certain way. But modeling is designed to show off clothes and/or the models themselves. If a company wants people to wear their clothes, you put them on an attractive woman to bring attention to them, that's just how it works. Attractiveness and beauty are not the same. Being "curvy" also doesn't mean being overweight.
yeah but its a model job. It's like saying oh yes overweight people with no daily workout routine and experience should be qualified for police jobs too because equality. That's not how it works. Some jobs, just requires a particular kind of people. Accept it and move on :D I agree that we should accept all kinds of body shapes, as a society but sometimes jobs are jobs. Requirements are there for a reason or else everyone would get jobs what's the point lol
Parawhore ! T H A N K. Y O U. They act like that is just their natural body type and they don't have to work hard. If you're insecure work out and eat healthier, stop trying to make everyone else around you fat too.
Nobody said they should be ashamed. They just said they weren't the average woman, which is true. Their job is to look good so they have time to work as hard as they do on their bodies. The average woman can't realistically dedicate that time into looking that way so they don't. Thus "regular women". Not "better women" or anything like that.
I do not think people make others fat.. unless you are a feeder. I am not thin. I don't want others to be fat. i want them to be them and be happy. Thin.. or fat.. tall or short. I think it is more about self confidence and loving one's self. I am sure even the VS models think they are not good enough and they clearly are.
no ones shaming models, they’re just saying that VS isn’t inclusive and shames other body types saying that they “aren’t the fantasy people want to see”
@@shefalirao4949 because they are not. Tell yourself honestly would you rather look like a VS model or an obese person?. That's why VS angels are seen as fantasy. Most people wouldn't fantasise about being obese or even looking like everyone else i.e average /basic.
That only really works if obese is the beauty standard. As it stands, most people don't want to be obese, so obesity isn't being promoted. Body confidence is, tho. Or do you prefer fat people to feel bad about themselves all the time?
@@goldyd144 Of course not but im talking about the message this video sends not how the public will recive it. The message this video is sending is basically, obesity is beautiful, and thats very harmful because although many people wont belive it some will and it may very well kill them: Heart disease, Diabetes ect.
@@maggiemgee5418 You know someone can find an obese person beautiful without wanting to be obese or thinking being obese is healthy, right? And last I checked, obese women weren't the only women being showcased here. Most body types were. Did you even watch the video?
@@ytho4426 How tall you think these women are, like 160-165? Some of them are (by the looks of it) bordering on like 90kgs ( 7:16 honestly looks over 130kgs ) If you calculate the bmi of women in that height range, even down to 82kgs they would be considered obese. Like even if you push up the height to 170, the max weight you should be and still be considered healthy is 72kg. So to say they are far from obese is just wrong.
All the ladies looked beautiful, but I feel like there's some bad vibes towards VS models here. Also, imo in the thumbnail they used a not so flattering image of a VS model (compared to what I could find online in one sec). As for the buzzfeed lady, I feel like they used the most flattering, best picture of her ever. Idk maybe I'm totally wrong but it seems odd to me.
I get the point of these videos, but stop calling these girls "photoshop" when these girls train like athletes 24/7 and bare all on a live fashion show in itty-bitty lingerie. You can't photoshop live video footage lmao.
Tyler Rose stop calling that one girl obese because no offense these photoshopped girls are the ones being PRAISED the most while Tess is being body shamed atm. Skinny girls have it good honey, fat girls have it rougher!
You CAN still digitally enhance video. Take Whitney Houston, 2011 Michael Jackson Tribute performance, where they had to flesh out her body to hide how emaciated she was due to drug use. I agree with your original point, though. People are so quick to judge others for their body type and it's sad. A VS model is as much a "normal body type" as Tess Holiday, which there's plenty of both to be found in society these days, and everyone in between. I think what a lot of people misunderstand is the point of these types of videos is not to shame one body type but to help support a universally higher self-esteem. It's not about what a person looks like at all, but how they feel about themselves that matters and low self-esteem is extremely damaging.
Tyler Rose Exactly! They totally don't set a realistic standard, since everyone can't afford to live in the gym day in and day out, but people like Elsa Hosk or Candice Swanepoel do look the way they look on the runway because it's their job to look that way.
I have the same body type as the girl who was 4"11 (sry I forget her name). When I saw her I thought "wow she's stunning". I looked down and realized that my body looked just like hers. This rlly helped ❤️
Everyone in the comments is saying that the VS models worked hard and they do but this video is about empowerment and being confident in their own bodies and we should support that
Thank you! People act as if everyone should adopt the routine of working out with a personal trainer 10 times a day, get a chef or live off just salads and become a VS model. But do all that on top of your real life job and/or school, family, etc. VS models look like that because it’s literally their job. Their days are spent preparing to model. Everyday women don’t have that type of job therefore won’t be up to that standard.
Morhever your so messed up they are just as beautiful u have a lot of issues on the inside that u need to work on your missing the whole point of this video the point of it is to be confident in every way and that girls need to stop comparing themselves to girls on tv and in the magazine's your sick absolutely vile and a disaster of a human being
Yeah!! I loved the idea, but its hard to watch when their catwalk and poses are this bad. Plus it doesn't seems serious, they're all playing around... ik its just for the video, but if people really wanna make it a thing, they should take it seriously and hire some good models.
@@leticialoquinha My god did u even watch the video they want them to be more confident and plus ur right it's for the video let them have some fun Jesus calm down
this is freaking amazing. when i was watching this i noticed myself thinking "oh i would walk down that runway with confidence! but i'll just get a little more in shape before doing so" and that made me realize how toxic my mindset towards my body is. we are all so so beautiful exactly the way we are right NOW. we're all gorgeous in this very moment - so thanks for promoting self love! ya'll slayed
The interesting part of all of this is that the real definition of woman is subjective. Not all biologically female women even have breasts or curves or whatever... So the line between looking like a woman and not, is a blurred one.
Everyone’s leaving comments about how “wrong” this vid was bc it was “belittling” to skinny people?? This video was about body positivity, it showed heavier, skinny, short, tall, trans, and different colored/ cultured girls in this video. So stop hating on them bc your doing the same thing your “against”
It did not show how skinny girls are beautiful too when the bigger girls came on the crowd *ERUPTED* but when the 2 skinny girls came on the crowd was quiet
+Margarethe Ikss I am fairly certain Adriana Lima doesn't own the rights to making the sign of the cross before embarking upon a nerve wracking endeavor? And your word choice is simply lovely...you should write greeting cards or design inspirational posters 👌🏻🙏🏻👌🏻
They're saying that their female workers at buzzfeed are doing it as male coworkers could have done it too and most likely will as buzzfeed like to do everything even if it means variations of the same things to be thorough.
Florence Kellogg well buzzfeed could do what ever they please, I’m just saying that it’s weird to use the word “women” as if Victoria secret models aren’t women themselves
I actually modeled naked for the art school at my university when I was really short on cash. I was terrified but once I took my robe off a wave of relief came over me. It was a completely liberating experience to see the art people had made of ME AND MY BODY. As a muscular and taller person you wouldn't think I have body image issues but everyone has their struggles. That experience made me see all of the beautiful parts of me both physically and internally after looking at how people who didn't know me decided to depict my image.
✨ I didn't realise Victoria secrecy models weren't regular women.. obviously they are super heroes ✨ while I understand the point of the video is supposed to be more body accepting etc it's not them and us! Those models work very hard to have those type of bodies and get a lot of money because of it.
Which is exactly why they aren't regular! Yes, Super models are gorgeous, and do work very hard to have their bodies the way they are. They're extraordinary. However, by regular women, they mean women you'd find walking down the streets- Not models that do it for a living.
Rubix The Cube : this still doesn't do anything for this stigma of 'then vs us' people are people. buzz feed is more about ratings than promoting normality and videos like this get views because it lures people into to thinking they are 'empowered' by being regular and looking like a Vs model is a myth when regular women could very well look like them if they put the work in.
Please use grammar. I'm not trying to be rude, but I can't read a thing you just posted. The video never said ANYTHING about models being bad- Just that they all promoted a singular body type, one that is nearly unachievable. Of course Buzzfeed is doing this for views. All major companies do everything for views. Welcome to TH-cam. And there is no stigma against models. At all. They're seen as perfect, and everyone wants to be one, so what's the harm in promoting normal, healthy body types?
So you are saying that the 4'11" woman could grow 8" if she "put the work in?" Models are chosen for a set of reasons, some of which people have little control over outside of surgery (i.e. even ear lobes, even teeth, few women of colour, restricted body types etc.) It is nice to see variety on the runway.
models that walk for companies like chanel do have weird looking faces, it's weird how their faces are counted as unique but they're actually unattractive. vs models are nothing like that tho
THE5 * i said some models have weird looking faces, and very unattractive also. i said victoria secret models are nothing like that. read my comment properly, lol
I just wanna say all these women have amazing bodies , and I love how even though they were all nervous they went out there and slayed that runway I loved all the joy and confidence that was just radiating off of them 👏🏾🥰😍🤩🤩🥵
I just got super cringed out when I noticed the audience was the buzzfeed workers like oh god Keith's on the left there and ryan (I think that's his name) is recording
Sam McCoy yeah i feel like it’s kind of creepy to get out there in your underwear in front of all your coworkers especially the dudes i wouldn’t feel comfortable with that
Yes, again I'm all for body positivity but EVERYONE has insecurities. Not just overweight people. Every single one of those beautiful girls were going outside their comfort zone. Not just the overweight ones.
Cassi Cow I think the main reason is because curvy/plus size women are not prevalent in mainstream media; thin people, especially those built like fashion models, are usually looked at in a more positive light.
All these women are so beautiful! I'm so happy you guys made this video, seeing so many different body types was really inspiring and empowering!! Thank you guys so much
Maitreyi Shishir because opticaly speaking a clothes fall better on a body who is tall and slim, a lot of people think that it is about beauty standard but fashion industry rules are not set for a beauty standard but to make the clothes look like the best.
Baobab Bombastic But that’s not how the clothes will look on anyone else, so what’s the point? Most people don’t look that way and so it won’t look the best on them. Clothes shouldn’t look best on the least common body that’s typically an unhealthy weight, but on every body.
That's not the point. A tall slime body can show off the dress better than a short chubby girl. That might not be fair to a lot of people, but i do agree with the fashion industry. Is about the best way of showing off the clothing and doesn't revolve around how someone feels about the way the girls should look.
Keith just sitting in the front row just acting like a dad
Cal Bart I love that man
I think I heard Keith the best from the whole audience sometimes. So nice.

And with that I bid you goodbye.
there are thin women in the video
YES preach. Totally agree
The ppl who actually look like models got like no cheers but when the large woman came out the crowd ERRUPTED
Edit: I mean people who don’t look like VICTORIA SECRET models, not just models in general
Why tho
because large women don’t usually have that much confidence and seeing them enjoying the self on the stage and loving themselves would make their co-workers proud
Gabrielle A I understand but I think that's kinda unfair to the smaller people. Skinny shaming is the same as fat shaming
Yeah skinny people can be just as insecure as someone large
@@gabby284 people can be skinny/normal and still very insecure, they should have been appreciated the same.

Yes, but people have a very hard time differentiating between the two; I know I did.
All of them look so beautiful!
Erica Purr Stop lying
Erica Purr no they dont
Man... I'm so sorry I have a different opinion than you both. I must be wrong because I have a different view on beauty. How unfortunate. 🙄
Erica Purr I completely agree with your view on beauty and their confidence made them all look so beautiful.
I agree Erica, they all look AMAZING xx
I don‘t like that they are calling themselves normal women but the v.s models not...
They are using the word 'normal' because they represent the body type of an average woman. Not every woman is 5'10 and a 23" waist.
Models are normal people but their body type can be hard to get and keep with. Models are seen as perfect and they are saying that every body type is perfect.
bc victoria secret models are not real women and are secretly transgender. MtF
lizzienicolee
First of all, trans women are 100% real women. Secondly, most of the vs models were born female.
cream
It’s not a joke to say women that happen to be trans aren’t real women, it’s just plain discrimination.
If you listen closely, you'll hear that Buzzfeed used the same audience cheering sound for every model.
ZozziGames wee, woo. every 7 seconds.
ZozziGames I was just about to say that, bit weird tbh
ZozziGames that wooo tho
whahaha that's terrible omg, didn't even notice that

ColleensQueen yasssss
ColleensQueen Who is she?
That's what I saying.
Twenty Øne Crybabies The girl with the short blond hair who is really tall
Devin does and teaches pole dances and she was a stock model before joining Buzzfeed
So models aren't real women. But if you were to say the lady at 1:24 isn't a real woman you'd get hate for it.
That Thing You See At The Corner Of Your Eye it's not saying models aren't real women, their job is to fit into societys standards which makes them different from everyday people
That Thing You See At The Corner Of Your Eye Oh, no one said models weren't real women, sweetie.
I'm getting sick of these comments. I don't like when buzzfeed pushes their BS agenda but stop spewing nonsense. They didn't say they weren't real women...

I know. She is beautiful. I am gender fluid so seeing trans people is so inspirational to me.
Maryann Torres so people like Hitler being born wasn't a mistake God deliberately made Hitler is that what you trying to say
She is wonderful! I never would have guessed it, too. But it is inspirational that she was so brave to mention this in the video. It´s amazing to see her walk down that runway. In fact, all of them did great and were amazing
this is seriously not about god making mistakes, it's about feeling good about yourself and your identity.
Maryann Torres female
I'm all for people empowering themselves with over confidence but to be fair, modeling is a job/career for some women and they work hard on their bodies to look good on the runway. Just because certain women are overweight and comfortable with it doesn't mean they should qualify to be replaced by skinny women in a job where it's required to be skinny. I get you're trying to make a point but it's a little reach for this one.
spacejamgardenz i agree with you so fricking much
spacejamgardenz it shouldn't be a requirement to be skinny for a job. it makes curvier girls feel like aliens and like they aren't good enough. we should be able to accept any body type for any job.
Accept it and move on :D
I agree that we should accept all kinds of body shapes, as a society but sometimes jobs are jobs. Requirements are there for a reason or else everyone would get jobs what's the point lol
This actually made me smile. Like I was beaming. This is so inspirational and all these women were GORGEOUS
Models work hard for their bodies.
Naomi: *Don't compare yourself to me*

Mary Launer ok but like the way she looks doesn't change how awful of a person she is

Lol
Victoria secret models work for their bodies... none of them are saying that you have to look like them it’s their personal preference..
They do realize that vs models don't just wake up like that right? They work hard for their bodies so why should they be ashamed about it?
Parawhore ! Exactly!!
Parawhore ! T H A N K.
Parawhore ! some do, there's actually bad modeling agencies that'smake people starve themselves.

Body positivity is good and it's very important but you shouldn't be promoting obesity
Maggie Bowers PREACH
So to say they are far from obese is just wrong.

these aren’t women, they’re *goddesses*
All the ladies looked beautiful, but I feel like there's some bad vibes towards VS models here. Also, imo in the thumbnail they used a not so flattering image of a VS model (compared to what I could find online in one sec). As for the buzzfeed lady, I feel like they used the most flattering, best picture of her ever. Idk maybe I'm totally wrong but it seems odd to me.
this is 50 times more interesting then the Victoria secret fashion show you see a variety of body types and actually can relate to theses women
+Lovely_Day Not everyone has that body type, it would be interesting to see more body types and show women that all sizes are beautiful.
Those Victoria models are working out
mind you, just because these women are thicker doesn't mean that none of them work out
Maya Paredes I agree with you
I get the point of these videos, but stop calling these girls "photoshop" when these girls train like athletes 24/7 and bare all on a live fashion show in itty-bitty lingerie.
WHITE KNIGHT
Tyler Rose exactly, Victoria's Secret models work so hard to get how fit they are
Tyler Rose Exactly!

That one girl with hair “Auri”😀
Everyone in the comments is saying that the VS models worked hard and they do but this video is about empowerment and being confident in their own bodies and we should support that
Thank you! People act as if everyone should adopt the routine of working out with a personal trainer 10 times a day, get a chef or live off just salads and become a VS model. But do all that on top of your real life job and/or school, family, etc. VS models look like that because it’s literally their job. Their days are spent preparing to model. Everyday women don’t have that type of job therefore won’t be up to that standard.
After working at BuzzFeed everyone just becomes perfect models

The interesting part of all of this is that the real definition of woman is subjective. Not all biologically female women even have breasts or curves or whatever... So the line between looking like a woman and not, is a blurred one.

Amy Kill by "regular women" they mean non models. Not "these are aliens and we're humans"
So, now models are like aliens or what?
models that walk for companies like chanel do have weird looking faces, it's weird how their faces are counted as unique but they're actually unattractive. vs models are nothing like that tho

Jahmye Neera There are small people that have body issues and aren't comfortable with their body
I don't really think you should take it to heart. it might have been people their very close too
Cassi Cow I think the main reason is because curvy/plus size women are not prevalent in mainstream media; thin people, especially those built like fashion models, are usually looked at in a more positive light.
agreed, BUT the media only portrays one body type, and it isn't the heavier type. people are used to seeing the slim girls.
All these women are so beautiful! I'm so happy you guys made this video, seeing so many different body types was really inspiring and empowering!! Thank you guys so much
Who else saw Keith (from the try guys)
Lmao!! I did!
I never understand why short girls can't model 😕
Maitreyi Shishir because opticaly speaking a clothes fall better on a body who is tall and slim, a lot of people think that it is about beauty standard but fashion industry rules are not set for a beauty standard but to make the clothes look like the best.
Me too
Wow really? Huh they'd be missing out on me lol I'm only 5'2" but I'm pretty
Who else was just looking at the audience to see who was there?
Just me?
k.(btw Keith was there)
woo woo just repeated, why not use the original crowd sounds?

When people can't change themselves, they change standards
Wow
You hit the point!
