You were always one of the more genuine vloggers. I would like to make some sort of a commentary on this video with a few of my reflections about this. I have a few things to say in your honor as well as in honor of the reality, that among all the foreigners in the Philippines, I feel like there is only 3-5% of them who have a proper level of integration and cultural sensitivity whilst also really genuinely caring. And out of those 3-5% only a few of them are even ethical or deeply consider ethics. I have deeply appreciated how you would open up discussions and how it led to me also feeling a little more courage to speak. I am glad to have seen you are well. I hope to hang out again, someday.

Hey Tom! I know this is long overdue but just the same, I want to say thank you for making contents about my country (Philippines) with honesty and transparency. It's sad that some of my countrymen doesn't know better. Your intentions are noble and well meant. It's just unfortunate that some Filipinos have this propensity of not wanting other people minding what they like and who they like. You're one of the rare vloggers that I look forward to watching along with Becoming Filipino, Finn Snow, Dwayne Wooley, Hungry Syrian Wanderer, Bisayang Hilaw and those others who really dwell in the most rural areas, learning the language, making a difference in people's lives. It's one of life's mysteries. You post about the danger of people exploiting Filipinos by pretending and acting through reaction videos (which is the most shallow of all contents) and you got persecuted over it. It's sad you had that negative experience here in the Philippines, I think I mentioned it years ago how many of us Filipinos don't really do well with opinionated people, or at least someone who's just being straightforward. Also, some of us weren't trying to silence you or other foreigners when we say don't get involved with political issues because it'll just ruin things, I'd say we were only trying to ask you to take caution because it's already very chaotic between Filipinos talking about political issues. I wish you well in your journey ahead. Maybe the silver lining there is that you're starting to see newer sides of life, taking newer paths and eventually rediscover yourself and what it is that you live for. Damn. I can’t believe the bashers affected you. Those Filipino Bashers are ruthless. I just got grilled from a Fellow Filipino because I did not know the purpose of Sinulog Festival. He called me “white washed” Your vlogs spoke the truth about PH. As you can see most Filipinos are Catholic, they don’t like it when you speak the truth. Sadly you experienced the worst trait of Filipinos. I never thought you were Pinoy Baiting at all. I mean, what else is the purpose of being a content creator but to gain viewers. It sucks that I feel like you were discouraged by some filipinos. Im a filipino too, and I dislike pinoy baiting as well. But IMO, you should have never paid attention to toxic filipinos. You should have kept doing whatever you enjoy doing. There are toxic people in every country, and being on a platform that let you be seen and judge by thousands of people, youtube comes with negativity. I hope you dont make this as a bad experience, philippines is beautiful place, I was born there but couldn’t live there because of no opportunities there for me. I envy foreigners who’s able to live there and enjoy my country, something I cant do.

Nobody can tell him what to do, and yes I agree getting into politics is not good, it’s very sensitive but anyone should be allowed to criticize regardless of the color of their skin and nationality. This is just proof that many filipinos are easily triggered and it’s proof that majority of filipinos can’t take criticism. There is no perfect countty in the world. I came from the Pholippines and married an American twice. This countyy is not prrfect either. But I came to love it. The politics, racism, poverty, materialism, homelisness, etc. So you see these exist everywhere. I cant ho back to the Philippines either because I dont feel I belong there anymore. I guess I am Americanized. I have lived here longer, 49 years, than in the Philippines. I dont agree with a lot of things but like I said I have made this my home and I dont see living and fying anywhere else but America. Good luck to you. That's the thing with us Filipinos, we bury our head in the sand. We only want to hear good things about the Philippines but hates to be criticized. I want to be vlogger too but I might get killed because I want change. If I have to expose all the corruptions and bad mentalities we have as a nation I might end up floating face down in Pasig river.

No matter how fake you feel vloggers are in the Philippines, they do give joy to Filipinos around the world. That is the most important thing. I really believe what this vlogger said. Well, for what it's worth, at least you enjoyed your time here, and for whatever reason you had to drastically resort on deleting everything that has anything to do with the Philippines, you're right, it's your own thing. Have a great life in your new world. I sincerely wish for you to find that ultimate reason of your being. Just as much as I wish so for myself.
It's sad you had that negative experience here in the Philippines, I think I mentioned it years ago how many of us Filipinos don't really do well with opinionated people, or at least someone who's just being straightforward. Also, some of us weren't trying to silence you or other foreigners when we say don't get involved with political issues because it'll just ruin things, I'd say we were only trying to ask you to take caution because it's already very chaotic between Filipinos talking about political issues.
I wish you well in your journey ahead. Maybe the silver lining there is that you're starting to see newer sides of life, taking newer paths and eventually rediscover yourself and what it is that you live for. I hope you find the place you could truly feel at home in. Be safe and well, Tom.

It sucks that I feel like you were discouraged by some filipinos. Im a filipino too, and I dislike pinoy baiting as well. But IMO, you should have never paid attention to toxic filipinos. You should have kept doing whatever you enjoy doing. There are toxic people in every country, and being on a platform that let you be seen and judge by thousands of people, youtube comes with negativity. I hope you dont make this as a bad experience, philippines is beautiful place, I was born there but couldn’t live there because of no opportunities there for me. I envy foreigners who’s able to live there and enjoy my country, something I cant do.

Mahirap labanan yon at kilala natin karamihan sa pinoy, gusto ka nila pag gusto nila paniniwala mo pero once na ma criticize sila, parang mga halimaw kung makapang lait at bash, yan ang pinaka ayokong trait ng karamihan. Nobody can tell him what to do, and yes I agree getting into politics is not good, it’s very sensitive but anyone should be allowed to criticize regardless of the color of their skin and nationality. It’s not like he is starting a revolution and consipiring against the government so his home country can take over the philippines lol. This is just proof that many filipinos are easily triggered and it’s proof that majority of filipinos can’t take criticism. That’s a given fact because filipinos love attention from foreigners who says good stuff but any foreigner who criticize regardless of whether it is political or not, filipinos will go at you at full force. That’s a very toxic behavior that I despise, that’s why pinoy baiting is a thing. And foreigners know that and takes advantage of it.

Filipino here -- I just wanted to say that I actively shared your videos on Pinoybaiting and whatnot as it was something that resonated a lot with me and several other people in my cycle; I even ended up forwarding it to some of the content creators because I do feel Pinoys are being exploited on that end. I wholeheartedly feel bad that you experienced so much online abuse; I know the anti-foreigner card could easily be pulled in discussions like these, but a lot of your insights were quite frankly spot on and made so much sense. Anyone will judge or bombard you anytime, it will not just happen in the Philippines, it can happen everywhere. Learn to shrug it off. You know yourself better than anyone. There is no perfect countty in the world. I came from the Pholippines and married an American twice. This countyy is not prrfect either. But I came to love it. The politics, racism, poverty, materialism, homelisness, etc. So you see these exist everywhere. I cant ho back to the Philippines either because I dont feel I belong there anymore. I guess I am Americanized. I have lived here longer, 49 years, than in the Philippines. I dont agree with a lot of things but like I said I have made this my home and I dont see living and fying anywhere else but America.

That's the thing with us Filipinos, we bury our head in the sand. We only want to hear good things about the Philippines but hates to be criticized. I want to be vlogger too but I might get killed because I want change. If I have to expose all the corruptions and bad mentalities we have as a nation I might end up floating face down in Pasig river.
